Shukla Dashami · amanta Jyeshtha · computed for New Delhi
Ganga Dussehra in 2027 falls on Sunday, 13 June 2027. It is kept on the Shukla Dashami of amanta Jyeshtha.
Why Ganga Dussehra Is on 13 June in 2027
The Shukla Dashami begins at 02:44 on 13 June 2027 and ends at 02:12 on 14 June 2027. The 2027 instants are the same everywhere; only the clock they are read on changes. The rule recorded for Ganga Dussehra tests the tithi at sunrise, the default test for most of the calendar.
On 13 June 2027 the Sun rises at 05:22 and sets at 19:19 at New Delhi. The Shukla Dashami is running at that sunrise, which is the test, so 13 June 2027 is the day.
In 2027 the Shukla Dashami lasts 23 hours 28 minutes, against 25 hours 32 minutes in 2026 and 21 hours 47 minutes in 2028: a tithi is twelve degrees of the Moon’s gain on the Sun, and the Moon never gains at a steady rate. The day itself runs 13 hours 57 minutes from sunrise to sunset at New Delhi.
The daily panchang for 13 June 2027 gives Shukla Dashami at sunrise; the day before, Shukla Navami; the day after, Shukla Ekadashi. At that sunrise the yoga is Vyatipata and the karana Taitila. The panchang for 13 June 2027 has the rest of the day.
When the Shukla Dashami begins, the Moon is in Hasta, ruled by the Moon.
