Every one of these takes the full 13 of 13, and none of the three tests looks at the sign to do it: 1/1 is one of the four Bhakoot axes that pay in full, a shared sign lord is an automatic 5 on Graha Maitri, and one sign gives one element and therefore one varna rank on both sides. A score that comes out the same for twelve different pairs has distinguished none of them, so it is not printed on the cards.

What is printed instead is the one classical fact that does vary — how the shared sign lord stands in its own sign. No koota scores it, and it is the only thing separating these twelve pages from each other.

How much of compatibility can two zodiac signs actually decide?
Three of the eight Ashtakoota tests, worth 13 of the 36 guna: Varna (1), Graha Maitri (5) and Bhakoot (7). The other five cannot be read from signs — Nadi (8), Gana (6), Yoni (4) and Tara (3) are all decided by the birth nakshatra, and Vashya (2) depends on half-sign divisions that authorities assign differently. Any tool that gives you a single compatibility percentage from two sign names has produced it from nothing.
What is Bhakoot dosha?
Bhakoot, worth 7 guna, is decided entirely by the mutual distance between the two Moon signs, and it is all-or-nothing. Three axes score zero: 2/12 (Dwirdwadash), 5/9 (Navpancham) and 6/8 (Shadashtak). The other four — same sign, 3/11, 4/10 and 7/7 — score the full 7. Of the three doshas, Shadashtak is treated most seriously and Navpancham most leniently, because being 5th and 9th from each other is otherwise the most auspicious relationship two houses can have.
When is Bhakoot dosha cancelled?
The standard cancellation is a Graha Maitri of 5 — the two sign lords being the same planet or natural friends. Aries and Scorpio are both ruled by Mars and sit on the 6/8 axis, so the dosha is cancelled by the shared lord. A shared nakshatra lord is the other common exception, but that needs both birth nakshatras rather than the signs.
How many guna do we need to marry?
18 of 36 is the conventional pass mark, and above 24 is considered strong. But Guna Milan is a filter, not a verdict — Mangal dosha, the condition of the 7th house and both Venus positions all sit outside it, and a couple can pass Guna Milan comfortably while carrying a serious affliction that Ashtakoota never tests for.
What happens when both partners have the same rashi?
All 12 same-rashi pairs score the identical 13 of 13, and for reasons that never look at the sign: 1/1 is one of the four Bhakoot axes that pay in full, a shared sign lord is an automatic 5 on Graha Maitri, and one sign means one element means one varna rank on both sides, so Varna cannot come out any way but 1. A perfect score shared by twelve different pairs has distinguished none of them. What does vary is the sign lord's own dignity in its own sign — Mercury is exalted in Virgo, five lords reach moolatrikona, six have plain ownership — and whether the three nakshatras inside that rashi leave Gana and Nadi open. The classical caution for a same-rashi match is not a dosha: it is that neither partner supplies what the other is short of.
Is this the same as sun-sign compatibility?
No. Vedic matching uses Chandra rashi, the sidereal Moon sign, while Western sun-sign compatibility uses the tropical Sun sign.
