Why Aquarius and Aquarius Take All 13 — and Why That Is Not the Finding
Bhakoot reads nothing but the distance between the two Moon signs. Four of the seven distances pay the full 7 and 1/1 is one of them; the three that pay nothing are the axes Aquarius forms with Capricorn and Pisces (2/12), with Gemini and Libra (5/9), and with Cancer and Virgo (6/8). None of those six can be reached by pairing Aquarius with itself, so the 7 here is arithmetic rather than assessment.
Graha Maitri exists to catch a pair whose sign lords dislike each other, so for Aquarius the question is who Saturn dislikes. Saturn counts Sun, Moon and Mars natural enemies, so it is Aquarius matched with Aries, Cancer, Leo or Scorpio where this koota actually bites. With Saturn on both sides there is no second lord and so nothing to weigh, and the test returns its maximum for the simplest reason available to it.
Varna is read from the element alone, and Aquarius is air, which makes both partners Shudra — artisan — adaptable, service-minded — rank 1 of 4, below Brahmin, Kshatriya and Vaishya. The test normally pays 1 only when the man’s rank equals or exceeds the woman’s, and that condition is what decides the score for 54 of the 66 pairs of different signs. Here it is Shudra on both sides, so the direction stops mattering.
Which is why Aquarius with Aquarius lands on 13 of 13 and so does every other same-rashi pair, and why the total is the least informative thing on this page. A test that returns one answer to twelve different questions has not distinguished between them. What does distinguish them is Saturn’s own standing in Aquarius — moolatrikona, which no koota scores — and what doubling Aquarius’s particular element and mobility does to two people.
The other 23 guna cannot appear on this page, because they need both birth nakshatras and those need two birth times. A shared Aquarius Moon narrows the field to three birth stars instead of 27 — a real narrowing, and not an answer.

The Three Kootas Two Aquarius Moons Can Settle / राशि कूट
One rashi counted from itself is the 1st in both directions, so the axis is 1/1 and Bhakoot pays in full. The pairings it zeroes are Aquarius with Capricorn, Pisces, Gemini, Libra, Cancer and Virgo — and a sign forms none of those with itself.
Saturn rules both charts, and a shared lord is the strongest of the six results this koota returns. It is also the standard cancellation for Bhakoot dosha — which this pair has no use for, since 1/1 is not one of the afflicted axes.
Both partners are Shudra, rank 1 of 4, because Aquarius is air and Varna is read from the element alone. One rank on both sides means the usual question of whose rank is higher never arises.
The 1/1 Axis, for Two Aquarius Charts / एक ही राशि
Two charts in the same rashi share an outlook so completely that there is nothing to negotiate and nothing to learn. The classics award the full 7 and then warn that the pair reinforces each other's weaknesses as readily as their strengths.
Worth being precise about what that warning is not. It is not a dosha, nothing needs cancelling, and 1/1 keeps company with the three most workable axes in the scheme. The caution is about a missing counterweight, and for Aquarius the missing counterweight is specific: no partner whose instinct is to move first, and nothing more grounded in the room. Ten of the eleven pages where Aquarius meets a different sign bring one of those two in from the other side. The eleventh is Gemini: air as well, so nothing more grounded arrives there either, and dual where the counterweight would have to be movable.
What Doubling Aquarius Looks Like
A friendship first, and both partners mean that as the foundation rather than as a downgrade. Neither is possessive, neither is much interested in how a couple is supposed to behave, and the arrangement often looks unconventional from outside and entirely stable from within.
What this pair is unusually good at
Space is not something either has to negotiate for, which removes the argument Aquarius most often has with the other eleven signs. Intellectual respect is mutual and constant, and loyalty here is real without needing to be demonstrated.
What specifically goes wrong
Both process feeling as an idea, and both do it at the moment closeness is most wanted, so the hardest conversations in this pair get held at a distance by two people who each experience themselves as being perfectly reasonable. Each waits for the feeling to become explicable before discussing it, and it frequently does not.
Neither column is a prediction and neither carries a score. They describe what happens when a trait has no opposite in the room, which is the one thing a shared rashi does genuinely guarantee — unlike the 13 guna above, which it guarantees for eleven other pairs as well.
Saturn in Aquarius — the One Thing That Varies Across the Twelve
Guna Milan never asks how the sign lord itself stands. For two different signs that question has two answers, one in each direction; for two of the same sign it has one, and that single answer is the only classical fact separating these twelve pages. Across the twelve it comes out three ways — one exaltation, five moolatrikonas and six plain ownerships — and this page is one of the five.
Lord of both charts · मूलत्रिकोण · 0°–20° · moolatrikona — the dignity above ownership
Saturn rules Aquarius and holds its moolatrikona here as well, 0°–20°. Moolatrikona ranks under exaltation and above plain ownership, and it is the more forgiving of the two because it is a span of degrees rather than one exact point: should Saturn itself fall in Aquarius in either chart — which is where this stops being a statement about the rashi and becomes a placement — anywhere inside 0°–20° is the stronger dignity, while an exaltation has to be very nearly hit. Saturn's exaltation lies in Libra, a rashi Saturn does not rule, so Aquarius is as strong as Saturn gets anywhere Saturn owns.
The same graha, its other rashi
Saturn rules two signs and does not stand the same way in both. In Aquarius it is moolatrikona; in Capricorn it is own sign. Every koota reads the two pairs identically — 13 of 13, Bhakoot 7, Graha Maitri 5, Varna 1 — so this is the whole of what separates them, and it favours Aquarius.
Capricorn & Capricorn — the other doubled Saturn pair →A dignity is not a guna and no score attaches to it. It says how comfortably the lord of both charts sits in the rashi both Moons occupy — the kind of thing an astrologer reads and a compatibility percentage has no way to hold. In a real match it would be weighed against where Saturn actually falls in each chart, how strong it is there, and which dasha is running.
Doubled Air, Doubled Sthira — the Combination Only Aquarius Has
Aquarius is the fixed air sign and the only rashi that is both — ideas held with the stubbornness usually reserved for possessions. Doubled, the pair agrees on principle and will not budge on it, which makes them formidable together and immovable when the principle is the thing that needs revisiting.
Air is also Gemini and Libra; Sthira is also Taurus, Leo and Scorpio. That is what makes this pair’s position unusual rather than merely similar. Aquarius with Gemini still puts two different mobilities in the room; Aquarius with Taurus still puts two elements there. Only Aquarius with Aquarius puts neither, and that is the precise sense in which these twelve pages describe something the other 66 do not.
Neither element nor mobility carries any guna. Element decides what a sign cares about, mobility decides how immovably it holds it, and the twelve rashis are exactly the twelve combinations of the two — four elements by three mobilities, none repeated and none missing. So Aquarius is the only rashi that is both air and fixed, and this is the only pair in the zodiac that can double that combination.
The Same Rashi Is Not the Same Nakshatra
A rashi spans 30° and a nakshatra 13°20′, and the two do not divide evenly, so Aquarius holds parts of exactly three birth stars and nine padas — split 2, 4 and 3 between them. Two Aquarius Moons therefore have three candidates rather than 27 — a real narrowing, and nowhere near enough to settle the four kootas that depend on the nakshatra. Those four are worth 21 of the 36 guna between them, more than the 13 on this page.
| Nakshatra | Padas here | Dasha lord | Gana | Nadi | Yoni |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dhanishta | 2 of 4 | Mars | Rakshasa | Madhya | Lion |
| Shatabhisha | 4 of 4 | Rahu | Rakshasa | Adi | Horse |
| Purva Bhadrapada | 3 of 4 | Jupiter | Manushya | Adi | Lion |
Dhanishta and Purva Bhadrapada are each cut by a rashi boundary, so Aquarius holds only part of both — which is why the three are not equal thirds. Aquarius holds only Rakshasa and Manushya nakshatras, so Gana cannot fall below 0 of 6 here whichever of the three each Moon fell in — one of the few things a shared Aquarius does quietly guarantee. The three carry Madhya and Adi nadi between them, so two of them do share a nadi and Nadi's 8 guna turns on which pair of birth stars it is. Yoni draws on only 2 animal symbols here — Lion and Horse, and the opening mahadasha follows the nakshatra rather than the sign: Mars, Rahu, Jupiter are the three lords an Aquarius Moon can start life under, and their periods are not the same length.
Aquarius in a Relationship
Aquarius wants a friend first and a partner second, and the friendship is not a lesser thing — it is what makes the rest durable. It is loyal, unpossessive, and genuinely uninterested in conventional expectations of how a couple should behave.
What it needs
Independence, intellectual respect, and space that is not negotiated for. Aquarius needs to be left alone sometimes without it meaning anything.
Where it goes wrong
Emotional detachment at exactly the moment closeness is wanted. Aquarius processes feeling as an idea, which the partner experiences as being held at a distance during the hardest conversations.
Aquarius horoscope and monthly rashifal →Read That Column Twice
On the other 66 pages that profile sits next to a different one and the reader compares the two. Here there is nothing to compare it with, which is the finding rather than an omission: what Aquarius needs is what Aquarius is being asked to supply, and what goes wrong for Aquarius arrives from both directions at once.
So read the friction line as a description of the room rather than of a person. It is not a difficulty this pair negotiates its way through, because the negotiating position is identical on both sides of the table — two Shudra charts, both Sthira, both answering to Saturn.
That is not a verdict, and nothing here says the match is a poor one. It is the reason the honest recommendation for a same-rashi match is a full nakshatra reading instead of a number.
The Opposite Case: Aquarius and Leo
If 1/1 is the axis with nothing to negotiate, 7/7 is the one where everything is negotiated. Leo sits in Aquarius’s 7th house — the house of marriage itself — is fire against Aquarius’s air, answers to Sun rather than Saturn, and holds precisely what Aquarius does not. Bhakoot pays that axis the same 7 it pays this one, which is a useful reminder that the koota is not measuring similarity.
