What a Sign Pair Can and Cannot Tell You
Ashtakoota awards 36 guna across eight tests. Only three of the eight can be read from two Moon signs: Varna, Graha Maitri and Bhakoot, worth 13 guna between them. The four heaviest tests — Nadi (8), Gana (6), Yoni (4) and Tara (3) — are decided by the birth nakshatra, and Vashya (2) turns on half-sign divisions the authorities assign differently. So a page like this one can give you 13 guna honestly and cannot give you the other 23 at all.
This is worth knowing because most sign-compatibility tools quote a single percentage. There is no classical calculation that produces one from two sign names.

The Three Rashi Kootas / राशि कूट
Libra and Scorpio form the 2/12 axis — Dwirdwadash dosha. Bhakoot is all-or-nothing.
Mutually neutral. Venus and Mars are naturally neutral to each other.
Libra is Shudra (artisan — adaptable, service-minded) and Scorpio is Brahmin (priestly — reflective, values-led). Varna is directional: it scores 1 when the man's varna rank is equal or higher and 0 when it is lower, so this pair scores 1 with the Scorpio partner as the man and 0 the other way round.
The 2/12 Axis / भकूट
One sign sits in the other's 2nd house — family, savings, speech — while that other sits in its 12th, the house of loss and expenditure. The classical reading is asymmetric: the partner in the 12th position tends to give more than they receive, in money and in effort. Of the three Bhakoot doshas this is the one most often cited in refusals, because it names a specific and durable imbalance rather than a general difficulty.
Dwirdwadash dosha applies and is not cancelled by the standard exception
Venus and Mars are not natural friends, so Graha Maitri scores 3 of 5 rather than the full 5 that cancels Bhakoot. Other cancellations exist — a shared nakshatra lord is the common one — but they need both birth nakshatras, not the signs.
The Two Sign Lords in Each Other’s Signs
Guna Milan never asks where each sign’s lord would stand in the other’s sign — but the question is answerable from the two rashis alone, and the answer differs across all 66 pairs of different signs. Venus, the lord of Libra, is in a neutral sign in Scorpio, and Mars, the lord of Scorpio, is in a neutral sign in Libra. Neither direction is dramatic, so this test neither helps nor harms the pair.
Lord of Libra · सम क्षेत्र
Scorpio belongs to Mars, toward whom Venus is neither friendly nor hostile. Venus is therefore neither strengthened nor weakened in Scorpio — on this test the pair is simply not commented on in that direction, which is a more honest answer than manufacturing one.
Lord of Scorpio · सम क्षेत्र
Turned around, the answer is the same: Libra belongs to Venus, Mars is neither friendly nor hostile toward Venus, and so Mars is neither strengthened nor weakened in Libra. Neutral in both directions — six of the 66 pairs — means the dignity test declines to comment on this match at all, which is worth knowing before someone reads a silence as approval.
A dignity is not a score and there is no guna attached to it — this is a statement about how comfortably each sign’s lord sits in the other’s territory, which is the sort of thing an astrologer reads from the chart and a compatibility percentage cannot encode. In a real kundli match it would be weighed against where those planets actually fall in the two birth charts, which can strengthen or override it.
Mobility — Chara and Sthira
The twelve rashis divide three ways by mobility: Libra is Chara (movable) and Scorpio is Sthira (fixed). One sign is Chara, movable, and the other Sthira, fixed — the classically complementary mobility pairing. One partner initiates and the other consolidates, which works well while both accept the division and becomes a standing argument the moment the fixed partner is asked to move quickly or the movable one is asked to settle.
Mobility carries no guna either, and it is not the same distinction as element — it describes how a sign holds a position rather than what it cares about, which is why it explains a different class of argument from the Air-versus-Water one below.
Libra in a Relationship
Libra is the most naturally partnered sign of the twelve and is genuinely happier in a pair. It is charming, considerate, and unusually willing to meet in the middle — the compromise is offered before it is asked for.
What it needs
Harmony, beauty in the shared environment, and a partner who does not force confrontation as a first resort.
Where it goes wrong
Avoidance. Libra will agree to keep the peace and then quietly resent the agreement, so problems surface late and pre-decided. Indecision on ordinary matters becomes genuinely wearing.
Libra horoscope →Scorpio in a Relationship
Scorpio does not do this casually. It gives everything or nothing, wants to know its partner completely, and is intensely loyal to whoever it has admitted past the perimeter. The intensity is the attraction and the difficulty in equal measure.
What it needs
Absolute honesty and a partner who does not flinch at depth. Scorpio would rather hear something painful than be managed.
Where it goes wrong
Jealousy and the long memory. A betrayal — including one Scorpio has inferred rather than witnessed — is not forgotten, and the withdrawal that follows is total. Control disguised as concern is the pattern to watch.
Scorpio horoscope →Where the Friction Sits
Libra works in Air and Scorpio in Water, which is where the recurring misunderstanding will live. It shows up as a difference in pace and in what each treats as obvious rather than as a difference in intention. Venus and Mars set different priorities, and in practice the argument is usually between those two priorities rather than between the two people.
Read the two profiles above against each other and the specific fault line is usually obvious: “Avoidance” meeting “jealousy and the long memory” is the pattern this pair will keep returning to.

Get the Other 23 Guna
Nadi, Gana, Yoni and Tara account for 21 of the 36 guna and all four need both birth nakshatras — which need birth time and place, not just the sign. Kundli matching calculates the full Ashtakoota, plus Mangal dosha and the 7th house, which sit outside Guna Milan entirely.
