What a Sign Pair Can and Cannot Tell You
Ashtakoota awards 36 guna across eight tests. Only three of the eight can be read from two Moon signs: Varna, Graha Maitri and Bhakoot, worth 13 guna between them. The four heaviest tests — Nadi (8), Gana (6), Yoni (4) and Tara (3) — are decided by the birth nakshatra, and Vashya (2) turns on half-sign divisions the authorities assign differently. So a page like this one can give you 13 guna honestly and cannot give you the other 23 at all.
This is worth knowing because most sign-compatibility tools quote a single percentage. There is no classical calculation that produces one from two sign names.

The Three Rashi Kootas / राशि कूट
Scorpio and Pisces form the 5/9 axis — Navpancham dosha. Bhakoot is all-or-nothing.
Mutual friends. Mars and Jupiter are natural friends to each other.
Both signs are Brahmin varna (priestly — reflective, values-led), so this scores the full 1 whichever way round the couple is.
The 5/9 Axis / भकूट
This is the dharma trine, and the most interesting contradiction in Ashtakoota. Being 5th and 9th from each other is the single most auspicious relationship two houses can have — it governs children, teaching, shared belief and genuine attraction — and yet Bhakoot scores it 0. Most authorities treat Navpancham dosha as the mildest of the three and freely cancel it, precisely because the underlying relationship is so favourable. A pair scoring 0 here is not in the same position as a pair scoring 0 on Shadashtak.
Navpancham dosha is cancelled here
The widely accepted cancellation is a Graha Maitri of 5 — the two sign lords being the same planet or natural friends. Mars and Jupiter are natural friends, so the dosha is treated as nullified and the pair is read on its other kootas.
The Two Sign Lords in Each Other’s Signs
Guna Milan never asks where each sign’s lord would stand in the other’s sign — but the question is answerable from the two rashis alone, and the answer differs across all 66 pairs of different signs. Mars, the lord of Scorpio, is in a friend's sign in Pisces, and Jupiter, the lord of Pisces, is in a friend's sign in Scorpio. Neither direction is dramatic, so this test neither helps nor harms the pair.
Lord of Scorpio · मित्र क्षेत्र
Pisces belongs to Jupiter, whom Mars counts a natural friend, so Scorpio's lord is a welcome guest rather than a merely tolerated one. Not a strength on the scale of exaltation, but nothing in this direction works against the pair.
Lord of Pisces · मित्र क्षेत्र
The reverse reads the same way and for its own reason: Scorpio answers to Mars, whom Jupiter counts a natural friend, so Pisces's lord is received rather than merely tolerated in Scorpio. Friendly in both directions is the second-best shape this test produces — twelve of the 66 pairs have it — and it is a quiet strength no guna total will report.
A dignity is not a score and there is no guna attached to it — this is a statement about how comfortably each sign’s lord sits in the other’s territory, which is the sort of thing an astrologer reads from the chart and a compatibility percentage cannot encode. In a real kundli match it would be weighed against where those planets actually fall in the two birth charts, which can strengthen or override it.
Mobility — Sthira and Dvisvabhava
The twelve rashis divide three ways by mobility: Scorpio is Sthira (fixed) and Pisces is Dvisvabhava (dual). Sthira meets Dvisvabhava. The fixed sign supplies the position and the dual sign supplies the flexibility around it, which is a workable arrangement so long as the dual partner's adaptability is not mistaken for agreement.
Mobility carries no guna either, and it is not the same distinction as element — it describes how a sign holds a position rather than what it cares about, which is why it explains a different class of argument from the shared Water one below.
Scorpio in a Relationship
Scorpio does not do this casually. It gives everything or nothing, wants to know its partner completely, and is intensely loyal to whoever it has admitted past the perimeter. The intensity is the attraction and the difficulty in equal measure.
What it needs
Absolute honesty and a partner who does not flinch at depth. Scorpio would rather hear something painful than be managed.
Where it goes wrong
Jealousy and the long memory. A betrayal — including one Scorpio has inferred rather than witnessed — is not forgotten, and the withdrawal that follows is total. Control disguised as concern is the pattern to watch.
Scorpio horoscope →Pisces in a Relationship
Pisces gives more than it is asked for and reads its partner's state before being told. It is romantic in the literal sense — it forms an image of the relationship and then loves the image with real devotion, sometimes past the point where the actual relationship supports it.
What it needs
Gentleness, emotional attunement, and a partner who does not exploit the willingness to give.
Where it goes wrong
The boundaries are porous, so Pisces absorbs the partner's moods and loses its own position. Difficulty is avoided rather than addressed — the escape can be literal — and the idealisation makes it slow to see who the partner actually is.
Pisces horoscope →Where the Friction Sits
Both signs are Water, so they share a basic mode of operating and will rarely misread each other's motives. The classical caution about a same-element pair is that it has no corrective: what Scorpio overdoes, Pisces also overdoes, and there is nobody in the room supplying the missing element. Mars and Jupiter set different priorities, and in practice the argument is usually between those two priorities rather than between the two people.
Read the two profiles above against each other and the specific fault line is usually obvious: “Jealousy and the long memory” meeting “the boundaries are porous, so Pisces absorbs the partner's moods and loses its own position” is the pattern this pair will keep returning to.

Get the Other 23 Guna
Nadi, Gana, Yoni and Tara account for 21 of the 36 guna and all four need both birth nakshatras — which need birth time and place, not just the sign. Kundli matching calculates the full Ashtakoota, plus Mangal dosha and the 7th house, which sit outside Guna Milan entirely.

How Scorpio and Pisces actually get along
Everything above is the arithmetic — the three rashi kootas a kundli match scores, the Bhakuta axis, Mars and Jupiter in each other’s signs. The Scorpio and Pisces relationship guide is the other half: how the two communicate, where the friction shows up day to day, and what each tends to want from the other. Read this one for the guna, that one for the relationship.
