What a Sign Pair Can and Cannot Tell You
Ashtakoota awards 36 guna across eight tests. Only three of the eight can be read from two Moon signs: Varna, Graha Maitri and Bhakoot, worth 13 guna between them. The four heaviest tests — Nadi (8), Gana (6), Yoni (4) and Tara (3) — are decided by the birth nakshatra, and Vashya (2) turns on half-sign divisions the authorities assign differently. So a page like this one can give you 13 guna honestly and cannot give you the other 23 at all.
This is worth knowing because most sign-compatibility tools quote a single percentage. There is no classical calculation that produces one from two sign names.

The Three Rashi Kootas / राशि कूट
Leo and Pisces form the 6/8 axis — Shadashtak dosha. Bhakoot is all-or-nothing.
Mutual friends. Sun and Jupiter are natural friends to each other.
Leo is Kshatriya (warrior — assertive, protective) and Pisces is Brahmin (priestly — reflective, values-led). Varna is directional: it scores 1 when the man's varna rank is equal or higher and 0 when it is lower, so this pair scores 1 with the Pisces partner as the man and 0 the other way round.
The 6/8 Axis / भकूट
Shadashtak — the hardest of the three. One sign falls in the other's 6th house of illness, debt and conflict, the other in the 8th of upheaval and longevity. The reading is again asymmetric: the partner in the 8th position from the other carries more of the strain. This is the Bhakoot dosha the classics take most seriously, and the one where a cancellation should be demonstrated rather than assumed.
Shadashtak dosha is cancelled here
The widely accepted cancellation is a Graha Maitri of 5 — the two sign lords being the same planet or natural friends. Sun and Jupiter are natural friends, so the dosha is treated as nullified and the pair is read on its other kootas.
The Two Sign Lords in Each Other’s Signs
Guna Milan never asks where each sign’s lord would stand in the other’s sign — but the question is answerable from the two rashis alone, and the answer differs across all 66 pairs of different signs. Sun, the lord of Leo, is in a friend's sign in Pisces, and Jupiter, the lord of Pisces, is in a friend's sign in Leo. Neither direction is dramatic, so this test neither helps nor harms the pair.
Lord of Leo · मित्र क्षेत्र
Pisces belongs to Jupiter, whom Sun counts a natural friend, so Leo's lord is a welcome guest rather than a merely tolerated one. Not a strength on the scale of exaltation, but nothing in this direction works against the pair.
Lord of Pisces · मित्र क्षेत्र
The reverse reads the same way and for its own reason: Leo answers to Sun, whom Jupiter counts a natural friend, so Pisces's lord is received rather than merely tolerated in Leo. Friendly in both directions is the second-best shape this test produces — twelve of the 66 pairs have it — and it is a quiet strength no guna total will report.
A dignity is not a score and there is no guna attached to it — this is a statement about how comfortably each sign’s lord sits in the other’s territory, which is the sort of thing an astrologer reads from the chart and a compatibility percentage cannot encode. In a real kundli match it would be weighed against where those planets actually fall in the two birth charts, which can strengthen or override it.
Mobility — Sthira and Dvisvabhava
The twelve rashis divide three ways by mobility: Leo is Sthira (fixed) and Pisces is Dvisvabhava (dual). Sthira meets Dvisvabhava. The fixed sign supplies the position and the dual sign supplies the flexibility around it, which is a workable arrangement so long as the dual partner's adaptability is not mistaken for agreement.
Mobility carries no guna either, and it is not the same distinction as element — it describes how a sign holds a position rather than what it cares about, which is why it explains a different class of argument from the Fire-versus-Water one below.
Leo in a Relationship
Leo is generous, warm and demonstrative, and it loves publicly. Loyalty is close to absolute while the relationship is working. Leo wants to be proud of its partner and wants its partner visibly proud of it.
What it needs
Admiration, and to be chosen out loud. Leo can tolerate almost any difficulty except being taken for granted.
Where it goes wrong
The pride will not permit an apology easily, so small ruptures ossify. Leo also assumes it should lead, which becomes a standing fight with a partner who has the same assumption.
Leo horoscope →Pisces in a Relationship
Pisces gives more than it is asked for and reads its partner's state before being told. It is romantic in the literal sense — it forms an image of the relationship and then loves the image with real devotion, sometimes past the point where the actual relationship supports it.
What it needs
Gentleness, emotional attunement, and a partner who does not exploit the willingness to give.
Where it goes wrong
The boundaries are porous, so Pisces absorbs the partner's moods and loses its own position. Difficulty is avoided rather than addressed — the escape can be literal — and the idealisation makes it slow to see who the partner actually is.
Pisces horoscope →Where the Friction Sits
Leo works in Fire and Pisces in Water, which is where the recurring misunderstanding will live. It shows up as a difference in pace and in what each treats as obvious rather than as a difference in intention. Sun and Jupiter set different priorities, and in practice the argument is usually between those two priorities rather than between the two people.
Read the two profiles above against each other and the specific fault line is usually obvious: “The pride will not permit an apology easily, so small ruptures ossify” meeting “the boundaries are porous, so Pisces absorbs the partner's moods and loses its own position” is the pattern this pair will keep returning to.

Get the Other 23 Guna
Nadi, Gana, Yoni and Tara account for 21 of the 36 guna and all four need both birth nakshatras — which need birth time and place, not just the sign. Kundli matching calculates the full Ashtakoota, plus Mangal dosha and the 7th house, which sit outside Guna Milan entirely.
