Leo & Virgo
सिंह और कन्या राशि अनुकूलता
2/12 axis · Dwirdwadash dosha · Bhakoot 0/7 · Graha Maitri 4/5
What a Sign Pair Can and Cannot Tell You
Ashtakoota awards 36 guna across eight tests. Only three of the eight can be read from two Moon signs: Varna, Graha Maitri and Bhakoot, worth 13 guna between them. The four heaviest tests — Nadi (8), Gana (6), Yoni (4) and Tara (3) — are decided by the birth nakshatra, and Vashya (2) turns on half-sign divisions the authorities assign differently. So a page like this one can give you 13 guna honestly and cannot give you the other 23 at all.
This is worth knowing because most sign-compatibility tools quote a single percentage. There is no classical calculation that produces one from two sign names.

The Three Rashi Kootas / राशि कूट
Leo and Virgo form the 2/12 axis — Dwirdwadash dosha. Bhakoot is all-or-nothing.
Friend and neutral. The table is one-sided here: Sun treats Mercury as neutral, while Mercury treats Sun as a friend.
Leo is Kshatriya (warrior — assertive, protective) and Virgo is Vaishya (merchant — practical, provident). Varna is directional: it scores 1 when the man's varna rank is equal or higher and 0 when it is lower, so this pair scores 1 with the Leo partner as the man and 0 the other way round.
The 2/12 Axis / भकूट
One sign sits in the other's 2nd house — family, savings, speech — while that other sits in its 12th, the house of loss and expenditure. The classical reading is asymmetric: the partner in the 12th position tends to give more than they receive, in money and in effort. Of the three Bhakoot doshas this is the one most often cited in refusals, because it names a specific and durable imbalance rather than a general difficulty.
Dwirdwadash dosha applies and is not cancelled by the standard exception
Sun and Mercury are not natural friends, so Graha Maitri scores 4 of 5 rather than the full 5 that cancels Bhakoot. Other cancellations exist — a shared nakshatra lord is the common one — but they need both birth nakshatras, not the signs.
The Two Sign Lords in Each Other’s Signs
Guna Milan never asks where each sign’s lord would stand in the other’s sign — but the question is answerable from the two rashis alone, and the answer differs across all 66 pairs of different signs. Sun, the lord of Leo, is in a neutral sign in Virgo, and Mercury, the lord of Virgo, is in a friend's sign in Leo. Neither direction is dramatic, so this test neither helps nor harms the pair.
Lord of Leo · सम क्षेत्र
Virgo belongs to Mercury, toward whom Sun is neither friendly nor hostile. Sun is therefore neither strengthened nor weakened in Virgo — on this test the pair is simply not commented on in that direction, which is a more honest answer than manufacturing one.
A dignity is not a score and there is no guna attached to it — this is a statement about how comfortably each sign’s lord sits in the other’s territory, which is the sort of thing an astrologer reads from the chart and a compatibility percentage cannot encode. In a real kundli match it would be weighed against where those planets actually fall in the two birth charts, which can strengthen or override it.
Mobility — Sthira and Dvisvabhava
The twelve rashis divide three ways by mobility: Leo is Sthira (fixed) and Virgo is Dvisvabhava (dual). Sthira meets Dvisvabhava. The fixed sign supplies the position and the dual sign supplies the flexibility around it, which is a workable arrangement so long as the dual partner's adaptability is not mistaken for agreement.
Mobility carries no guna either, and it is not the same distinction as element — it describes how a sign holds a position rather than what it cares about, which is why it explains a different class of argument from the Fire-versus-Earth one below.
Leo in a Relationship
Leo is generous, warm and demonstrative, and it loves publicly. Loyalty is close to absolute while the relationship is working. Leo wants to be proud of its partner and wants its partner visibly proud of it.
What it needs
Admiration, and to be chosen out loud. Leo can tolerate almost any difficulty except being taken for granted.
Where it goes wrong
The pride will not permit an apology easily, so small ruptures ossify. Leo also assumes it should lead, which becomes a standing fight with a partner who has the same assumption.
Leo horoscope →Virgo in a Relationship
Virgo shows love by doing things — organising, remembering, fixing, quietly handling what the partner has not noticed. It is far more devoted than it is romantic, and the devotion is easy to miss if you are waiting for a declaration.
What it needs
To be appreciated for the practical work, and a partner who meets their commitments. Virgo forgives a great deal but not unreliability.
Where it goes wrong
The criticism. Virgo's instinct is to improve what it loves, and improvement delivered unrequested lands as disapproval. It also worries out loud, which the partner hears as blame.
Virgo horoscope →Where the Friction Sits
Leo works in Fire and Virgo in Earth, which is where the recurring misunderstanding will live. It shows up as a difference in pace and in what each treats as obvious rather than as a difference in intention. Sun and Mercury set different priorities, and in practice the argument is usually between those two priorities rather than between the two people.
Read the two profiles above against each other and the specific fault line is usually obvious: “The pride will not permit an apology easily, so small ruptures ossify” meeting “the criticism” is the pattern this pair will keep returning to.

Get the Other 23 Guna
Nadi, Gana, Yoni and Tara account for 21 of the 36 guna and all four need both birth nakshatras — which need birth time and place, not just the sign. Kundli matching calculates the full Ashtakoota, plus Mangal dosha and the 7th house, which sit outside Guna Milan entirely.
