What a Sign Pair Can and Cannot Tell You
Ashtakoota awards 36 guna across eight tests. Only three of the eight can be read from two Moon signs: Varna, Graha Maitri and Bhakoot, worth 13 guna between them. The four heaviest tests — Nadi (8), Gana (6), Yoni (4) and Tara (3) — are decided by the birth nakshatra, and Vashya (2) turns on half-sign divisions the authorities assign differently. So a page like this one can give you 13 guna honestly and cannot give you the other 23 at all.
This is worth knowing because most sign-compatibility tools quote a single percentage. There is no classical calculation that produces one from two sign names.

The Three Rashi Kootas / राशि कूट
Taurus and Capricorn form the 5/9 axis — Navpancham dosha. Bhakoot is all-or-nothing.
Mutual friends. Venus and Saturn are natural friends to each other.
Both signs are Vaishya varna (merchant — practical, provident), so this scores the full 1 whichever way round the couple is.
The 5/9 Axis / भकूट
This is the dharma trine, and the most interesting contradiction in Ashtakoota. Being 5th and 9th from each other is the single most auspicious relationship two houses can have — it governs children, teaching, shared belief and genuine attraction — and yet Bhakoot scores it 0. Most authorities treat Navpancham dosha as the mildest of the three and freely cancel it, precisely because the underlying relationship is so favourable. A pair scoring 0 here is not in the same position as a pair scoring 0 on Shadashtak.
Navpancham dosha is cancelled here
The widely accepted cancellation is a Graha Maitri of 5 — the two sign lords being the same planet or natural friends. Venus and Saturn are natural friends, so the dosha is treated as nullified and the pair is read on its other kootas.
The Two Sign Lords in Each Other’s Signs
Guna Milan never asks where each sign’s lord would stand in the other’s sign — but the question is answerable from the two rashis alone, and the answer differs across all 66 pairs of different signs. Venus, the lord of Taurus, is in a friend's sign in Capricorn, and Saturn, the lord of Capricorn, is in a friend's sign in Taurus. Neither direction is dramatic, so this test neither helps nor harms the pair.
Lord of Taurus · मित्र क्षेत्र
Capricorn belongs to Saturn, whom Venus counts a natural friend, so Taurus's lord is a welcome guest rather than a merely tolerated one. Not a strength on the scale of exaltation, but nothing in this direction works against the pair.
Lord of Capricorn · मित्र क्षेत्र
The reverse reads the same way and for its own reason: Taurus answers to Venus, whom Saturn counts a natural friend, so Capricorn's lord is received rather than merely tolerated in Taurus. Friendly in both directions is the second-best shape this test produces — twelve of the 66 pairs have it — and it is a quiet strength no guna total will report.
A dignity is not a score and there is no guna attached to it — this is a statement about how comfortably each sign’s lord sits in the other’s territory, which is the sort of thing an astrologer reads from the chart and a compatibility percentage cannot encode. In a real kundli match it would be weighed against where those planets actually fall in the two birth charts, which can strengthen or override it.
Mobility — Sthira and Chara
The twelve rashis divide three ways by mobility: Taurus is Sthira (fixed) and Capricorn is Chara (movable). One sign is Chara, movable, and the other Sthira, fixed — the classically complementary mobility pairing. One partner initiates and the other consolidates, which works well while both accept the division and becomes a standing argument the moment the fixed partner is asked to move quickly or the movable one is asked to settle.
Mobility carries no guna either, and it is not the same distinction as element — it describes how a sign holds a position rather than what it cares about, which is why it explains a different class of argument from the shared Earth one below.
Taurus in a Relationship
Taurus commits slowly and then almost immovably. It shows affection through provision — food, comfort, security, physical presence — rather than through declarations, and it expects the same in return.
What it needs
Consistency, physical affection, and no sudden changes to the shared plan. Taurus needs to be told about a decision before it is made, not after.
Where it goes wrong
The stubbornness is total once a position is taken, and possessiveness reads as care from the inside and as control from the outside. Taurus will endure an unhappy situation for years rather than restructure it.
Taurus horoscope →Capricorn in a Relationship
Capricorn is not demonstrative and is deeply serious about commitment. It shows love by building — a home, a future, a stable position — and it treats the relationship as something to be maintained rather than performed.
What it needs
Respect, a partner who takes responsibility seriously, and time. Capricorn warms over years, not weeks.
Where it goes wrong
The reserve reads as coldness, and work reliably wins the argument against the relationship. Capricorn is also quietly critical and slow to say what it actually needs, so the partner is left inferring.
Capricorn horoscope →Where the Friction Sits
Both signs are Earth, so they share a basic mode of operating and will rarely misread each other's motives. The classical caution about a same-element pair is that it has no corrective: what Taurus overdoes, Capricorn also overdoes, and there is nobody in the room supplying the missing element. Venus and Saturn set different priorities, and in practice the argument is usually between those two priorities rather than between the two people.
Read the two profiles above against each other and the specific fault line is usually obvious: “The stubbornness is total once a position is taken, and possessiveness reads as care from the inside and as control from the outside” meeting “the reserve reads as coldness, and work reliably wins the argument against the relationship” is the pattern this pair will keep returning to.

Get the Other 23 Guna
Nadi, Gana, Yoni and Tara account for 21 of the 36 guna and all four need both birth nakshatras — which need birth time and place, not just the sign. Kundli matching calculates the full Ashtakoota, plus Mangal dosha and the 7th house, which sit outside Guna Milan entirely.

How Taurus and Capricorn actually get along
Everything above is the arithmetic — the three rashi kootas a kundli match scores, the Bhakuta axis, Venus and Saturn in each other’s signs. The Taurus and Capricorn relationship guide is the other half: how the two communicate, where the friction shows up day to day, and what each tends to want from the other. Read this one for the guna, that one for the relationship.
