Kartik Purnima 2028: Thursday, 2 November 2028

Kartik Purnima in 2028 falls on Thursday, 2 November 2028. It is kept on the Purnima of amanta Kartika.

Why Kartik Purnima Is on 2 November in 2028

The Purnima begins at 13:08 on 1 November 2028 and ends at 14:47 on 2 November 2028. The 2028 instants are the same everywhere; only the clock they are read on changes. The rule recorded for Kartik Purnima tests the tithi at sunrise, the default test for most of the calendar.

On 2 November 2028 the Sun rises at 06:34 and sets at 17:35 at New Delhi. The Purnima is running at that sunrise, which is the test, so 2 November 2028 is the day.

In 2028 the Purnima lasts 25 hours 39 minutes, against 20 hours 41 minutes in 2026 and 23 hours 0 minutes in 2027: a tithi is twelve degrees of the Moon’s gain on the Sun, and the Moon never gains at a steady rate. The day itself runs 11 hours 1 minute from sunrise to sunset at New Delhi. The Purnima ends at the full moon itself, 14:47 on 2 November 2028, with the Moon in Aries and Bharani.

When the Purnima begins, the Moon is in Ashwini, ruled by Ketu.
