Ashlesha Nakshatra: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027
14 days in 2026 · 10 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi
Ashlesha is the 9th of the 27 nakshatras. A panchang names a day by the nakshatra running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Ashlesha was the nakshatra at sunrise in New Delhi on 24 days: 14 in 2026 and 10 in 2027. Three times it began after one sunrise and ended before the next, so it named no day at all (between the sunrises of 23 January 2027 and 24 January 2027; 6 July 2027 and 7 July 2027; 17 December 2027 and 18 December 2027), and it never held two sunrises in a row.
The muhurta texts put Ashlesha in the Tikshna (sharp) group, which is the class the muhurat filter reads it by. Its own page, Ashlesha nakshatra, covers it as a birth star.

By weekday, Ashlesha held sunrise most often on Mondays (6 times) and least on Wednesdays (2): Sunday 3, Monday 6, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 2, Thursday 3, Friday 4, Saturday 3. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the nakshatra run on unrelated cycles.
Festivals that fell on an Ashlesha day: Sakat Chauth (6 January 2026), Holika Dahan (2 March 2026) and Jagannath Rath Yatra (16 July 2026).
In the cycle Ashlesha comes after Pushya and before Magha; all 27 are on the nakshatra index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: आश्लेषा नक्षत्र.
