Bharani Nakshatra: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027
12 days in 2026 · 13 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi
Bharani is the 2nd of the 27 nakshatras. A panchang names a day by the nakshatra running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Bharani was the nakshatra at sunrise in New Delhi on 25 days: 12 in 2026 and 13 in 2027. Once it began after one sunrise and ended before the next, so it named no day at all (between the sunrises of 12 June 2026 and 13 June 2026), and it never held two sunrises in a row.
The muhurta texts put Bharani in the Ugra (fierce) group, which is the class the muhurat filter reads it by. Its own page, Bharani nakshatra, covers it as a birth star.

By weekday, Bharani held sunrise most often on Sundays (5 times) and least on Fridays (2): Sunday 5, Monday 4, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Thursday 3, Friday 2, Saturday 4. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the nakshatra run on unrelated cycles.
Festivals that fell on a Bharani day: Akshaya Tritiya (19 April 2026), Shani Jayanti (16 May 2026), Ratha Saptami (13 February 2027), Krishna Janmashtami (24 August 2027) and Kartik Purnima (14 November 2027).
In the cycle Bharani comes after Ashwini and before Krittika; all 27 are on the nakshatra index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: भरणी नक्षत्र.
