Jyeshtha Nakshatra: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027

15 days in 2026 · 16 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi

Jyeshtha is the 18th of the 27 nakshatras. A panchang names a day by the nakshatra running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Jyeshtha was the nakshatra at sunrise in New Delhi on 31 days: 15 in 2026 and 16 in 2027. It never fell between two sunrises without holding one, and four times it held two sunrises in a row, naming two consecutive days (25 July 2026 and 26 July 2026; 15 October 2026 and 16 October 2026; 1 February 2027 and 2 February 2027; 15 July 2027 and 16 July 2027).

The muhurta texts put Jyeshtha in the Tikshna (sharp) group, which is the class the muhurat filter reads it by. Its own page, Jyeshtha nakshatra, covers it as a birth star.

By weekday, Jyeshtha held sunrise most often on Tuesdays and Thursdays (6 times) and least on Wednesdays and Saturdays (3): Sunday 5, Monday 4, Tuesday 6, Wednesday 3, Thursday 6, Friday 4, Saturday 3. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the nakshatra run on unrelated cycles.

Festivals that fell on a Jyeshtha day: Devshayani Ekadashi (25 July 2026).

In the cycle Jyeshtha comes after Anuradha and before Mula; all 27 are on the nakshatra index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: ज्येष्ठा नक्षत्र.
