Variyan Yoga: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027

12 days in 2026 · 14 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi

Variyan is the 18th of the 27 yogas. A panchang names a day by the yoga running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Variyan was the yoga at sunrise in New Delhi on 26 days: 12 in 2026 and 14 in 2027. Three times it began after one sunrise and ended before the next, so it named no day at all (between the sunrises of 7 September 2026 and 8 September 2026; 28 October 2026 and 29 October 2026; 29 August 2027 and 30 August 2027), and once it held two sunrises in a row, naming two consecutive days (29 March 2027 and 30 March 2027).

Variyan is not among the nine yogas the muhurat filter rejects, so on its 26 days the yoga is no obstacle; the other four limbs still have to pass.

By weekday, Variyan held sunrise most often on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (5 times) and least on Tuesdays and Fridays (2): Sunday 3, Monday 4, Tuesday 2, Wednesday 5, Thursday 5, Friday 2, Saturday 5. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the yoga run on unrelated cycles.

Festivals that fell on a Variyan day: Nirjala Ekadashi (14 June 2027), Hariyali Teej (4 August 2027), Kartik Purnima (14 November 2027) and Mokshada Ekadashi (9 December 2027).

In the cycle Variyan comes after Vyatipata and before Parigha; all 27 are on the yoga index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: वरीयान् योग.
