Moon Mahadasha, Venus Antardasha (Chandra–Shukra)
1 year 8 months (classical) · 609 days (solar) · sub-period 8 of 9 in a 10-year mahadasha
The Venus antardasha is the eighth of the nine sub-periods inside the Moon mahadasha. 10 × 20 ÷ 120 makes the Moon–Venus sub-period 1 year 8 months on the classical year of twelve thirty-day months, which is how the texts state it, or 609 days on the solar year of 365.2425 days that the dasha calculator uses.
Venus’s turn in the Moon mahadasha comes only after the Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury and Ketu have run, which takes 7 years 10 months. When the Moon–Venus sub-period gives way to Moon–Sun, 6 months of the Moon mahadasha remains.
Venus’s 20 years make every Venus antardasha 20/120 of the mahadasha containing it, so inside the Moon’s 10 years the Moon–Venus sub-period is the longest of the nine.
The Nine Pratyantardashas of Moon–Venus
A pratyantardasha of Moon–Venus is 10 × 20 × its own lord’s years ÷ 14,400, and the nine run in cycle order starting from Venus. Venus’s is the longest inside Moon–Venus at 100 days and the Sun’s the shortest at 30 days, on the classical year and rounded to the day.

How the Moon and Venus Stand to Each Other
On the natural friendship table, the Moon counts Venus neutral while Venus counts the Moon an enemy. The table is not symmetric, so the Moon–Venus relationship has to be quoted in both directions, as it is here, rather than as one word.
Counted between the signs they own, Taurus is the 11th from the Moon’s Cancer and Libra is the 4th from the Moon’s Cancer. Whatever the ascendant, the houses the Moon rules and the houses Venus rules sit at those same distances from each other in the chart, so the Moon–Venus sub-period always joins lordships that far apart.
The Moon is exalted in Taurus, a sign Venus owns. In the Moon–Venus sub-period, then, one lord's dignity is placed on the other’s ground.
The Same Pair the Other Way Round: Venus–Moon
10 × 20 equals 20 × 10, so the Moon antardasha of the Venus mahadasha is exactly as long as Moon–Venus: 1 year 8 months. Nothing else about Venus–Moon matches. It is the third sub-period of Venus’s 20 years rather than the eighth of the Moon’s 10; it opens after 4 years 4 months of the Venus mahadasha, against 7 years 10 months here; and its pratyantars start from the Moon instead of Venus.
What the Texts Assign to the Moon and Venus
The karaka list the tables give the Moon, the mahadasha lord, is mother, the mind (manas), water, milk, the public, comfort and the home; for Venus, the lord of the Moon–Venus sub-period, it is marriage, vehicles, art, music, luxury, hotels and cosmetics. Parashari practice reads the sub-period through the houses each of the two owns and occupies in the birth chart, and through where Venus stands counted from the Moon there. None of that is a forecast, and this page makes none: without a chart, Moon–Venus is a length and a position, and the 1 year 8 months above is the whole of what can be said about it in general.
A birth with the Moon in Rohini, Hasta or Shravana opens life inside the Moon mahadasha itself, part-way through, and whether the Moon–Venus sub-period is still ahead depends on how far the Moon had gone into the nakshatra. For a birth in Bharani, Purva Phalguni or Purva Ashadha, the Venus mahadasha comes first, and the Moon mahadasha is the third in that sequence.
The Other Sub-Periods of the Moon Mahadasha
The full table for the Moon mahadasha, with where each sub-period opens and closes, is on the Moon mahadasha page. How the Moon mahadasha is read as a whole is in our Moon mahadasha article, and the system itself in Vimshottari dasha explained. This page in Hindi: चन्द्र महादशा में शुक्र अंतर्दशा.
When does Moon–Venus run in your chart?
The dates come from the Moon’s longitude at birth. The calculator gives them; a pandit reads what the two lords hold in your chart.
