Nag Panchami in 2027 falls on Friday, 6 August 2027. It is kept on the Shukla Panchami of amanta Shravana.
Why Nag Panchami Is on 6 August in 2027
The Shukla Panchami begins at 02:27 on 6 August 2027 and ends at 00:23 on 7 August 2027. The 2027 instants are the same everywhere; only the clock they are read on changes. The rule recorded for Nag Panchami tests the tithi at sunrise, the default test for most of the calendar.
On 6 August 2027 the Sun rises at 05:45 and sets at 19:08 at New Delhi. The Shukla Panchami is running at that sunrise, which is the test, so 6 August 2027 is the day.
In 2027 the Shukla Panchami lasts 21 hours 56 minutes, against 24 hours 7 minutes in 2026 and 21 hours 4 minutes in 2028: a tithi is twelve degrees of the Moon’s gain on the Sun, and the Moon never gains at a steady rate. The day itself runs 13 hours 23 minutes from sunrise to sunset at New Delhi.
The daily panchang for 6 August 2027 gives Shukla Panchami at sunrise; the day before, Shukla Chaturthi; the day after, Shukla Shashthi. At that sunrise the yoga is Siddha and the karana Bava. The panchang for 6 August 2027 has the rest of the day.
When the Shukla Panchami begins, the Moon is in Uttara Phalguni, ruled by the Sun.
