The five windows in Jammu on 29 June 2027
In clock order through the day. Which numbered eighth of daylight Rahu Kaal, Gulika and Yamaghanta each take is fixed by the weekday rather than by the clock, and no two weekdays share the assignment: on a Tuesday Rahu Kaal is the 7th of the eight, Gulika the 5th and Yamaghanta the 3rd. Sunrise 05:25 to sunset 19:42 is 14h 17m, so an eighth of it runs 107.1 minutes and a fifteenth — which is what Abhijit is — runs 57 minutes. The Length column is the gap between two endpoints each rounded to the whole minute, which is why the three eighths below read 107 minutes apiece.
| Window | IST | Length | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brahma muhurat | 03:49–05:25 | 96 minutes | a fixed span ending at sunrise — the one row here that is not a fraction of daylight |
| Yamaghanta | 08:59–10:46 | 107 minutes | the 3rd of eight parts of daylight |
| Abhijit muhurat | 12:05–13:02 | 57 minutes | the 8th of fifteen parts, straddling local midday |
| Gulika Kaal | 12:34–14:21 | 107 minutes | the 5th of eight parts of daylight |
| Rahu Kaal | 16:08–17:55 | 107 minutes | the 7th of eight parts of daylight |
The convention the classical almanacs record is that nothing new is begun inside Rahu Kaal, Gulika or Yamaghanta, and that Abhijit and Brahma muhurat are the day’s two settled windows — Brahma muhurat being the ninety-six minutes ending at sunrise, which is why it is the one window here whose length never changes with the season. What the tradition does not do is grade the rest of the day, and neither does this page. Choosing a window for a purpose needs a chart as well as a clock.
What a national panchang gets wrong in Jammu today
The column on the right is the site’s own national table for 29 June 2027, computed for New Delhi from the JPL DE421 ephemeris — the numbers /panchang/2027-06-29/ actually prints. It is the same table almost every panchang in the vertical is a copy of. Every limb on it is right for Jammu; every time on it is wrong, and the last column is by how much.
| Jammu | National (New Delhi) | Difference | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunrise | 05:25 | 05:26 | −1 min |
| Sunset | 19:42 | 19:23 | +19 min |
| Brahma muhurat | 03:49-05:25 | 03:50-05:26 | −1 min |
| Rahu Kaal | 16:08-17:55 | 15:53-17:38 | +15 min |
| Gulika Kaal | 12:34-14:21 | 12:24-14:09 | +10 min |
| Yamaghanta | 08:59-10:46 | 08:55-10:39 | +4 min |
| Abhijit muhurat | 12:05-13:02 | 11:56-12:52 | +9 min |
The widest of them on 29 June 2027 is Sunset, which a national table places 19 minutes earlier than Jammu's. Longitude explains most of it: Jammu sits 2.35° west of New Delhi, and four minutes per degree is the whole of the local-time correction. The rest is latitude, which does not shift sunrise so much as stretch the day — and because Rahu Kaal is a fraction of that day rather than a span on a clock, a stretched day moves the window further than it moves sunrise. That is why the difference in the table above is not one number repeated seven times.
An eighth of the day is not ninety minutes
Rahu Kaal, Gulika and Yamaghanta are each one eighth of the interval from sunrise to sunset. That is a definition, not an approximation, and it means the length of each is a property of the day rather than a fixed quantity anyone can print once. A table quoting a flat ninety minutes is therefore wrong here today by 17 minutes, and wrong in the short direction — it closes the window early. Across 2027 in Jammu an eighth runs from 74 minutes to 108 minutes, so the error is not a constant either. Abhijit is a fifteenth of the same interval rather than an eighth, so it runs 57 minutes today — a little over half of Rahu Kaal, and it moves with local solar noon rather than with the clock. Brahma muhurat is the exception: fixed at 96 minutes because it is defined as a span before sunrise rather than a fraction of daylight, so in Jammu it shifts with sunrise and never changes length.
Where 29 June sits in Jammu’s year
14h 17m of daylight is the 14th longest of Jammu’s 365 days in 2027. The year’s longest sits 2 minutes above it, on 19 June and 2 other days at the same length; its shortest 258 minutes below, on 22 December. Since yesterday sunrise has moved 1 minute later and sunset has held, so the day is 1 minute shorter — and every window above has moved with it. A monthly table hides that; a dated page is where it shows.
Of the 38 cities this site computes, Jammu is the joint 12th to see the sun on 29 June 2027, sharing the printed minute with one other city. Sunrise across all 38 spans 94 minutes, from 04:33 in Guwahati to 06:07 in Thiruvananthapuram — and Rahu Kaal’s opening spans 75 minutes, which is the more useful of the two numbers and the one no national table can carry.
The five limbs on 29 June 2027
| Tithi | Krishna Dashami (Krishna Paksha) |
|---|---|
| Nakshatra | Ashwini |
| Yoga | Atiganda |
| Karana | Vanija |
| Vara | Tuesday |
These five are the same everywhere in India, and they are listed here for completeness rather than because they vary by city — a tithi is an angular relationship between the Sun and the Moon, and an angle does not have a postal address. One caveat is honest and worth stating: the almanac convention is to read each limb at sunrise, and the tabulated values above are read at New Delhi's sunrise. Jammu’s sunrise is 1 minute earlier than that, so on a day when a limb turns over inside that gap, the value current at Jammu’s own sunrise is the neighbouring one. The site does not guess which days those are; where a limb is close to its boundary the honest place to look is the neighbouring-day view on the national page for 29 June 2027, which shows the days on either side for exactly this reason.
29 June 2027 in Jammu and the cities nearest it
East to west, in the order the sun reaches them: Jammu and the four cities nearest it, with Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram, which see the sun first and last of all 38 on this date. The last column is measured from Jammu, so the table differs on every page that shares this date.
| City | Sunrise | Rahu Kaal | An eighth | vs Jammu |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guwahati | 04:33 | 14:53–16:36 | 103 min | −75 min |
| Dehradun | 05:18 | 15:52–17:37 | 106 min | −16 min |
| Chandigarh | 05:22 | 15:57–17:43 | 106 min | −11 min |
| Jammu | 05:25 | 16:08–17:55 | 107 min | — |
| Delhi | 05:26 | 15:53–17:38 | 105 min | −15 min |
| Amritsar | 05:28 | 16:06–17:53 | 106 min | −2 min |
| Thiruvananthapuram | 06:07 | 15:35–17:09 | 95 min | −33 min |
The two columns do not run in the same order, and 29 June 2027 is one of the dates where that is visible: Jammu sees the sun before Thiruvananthapuram and still reaches Rahu Kaal 33 minutes after it. The reason is in the fourth column. Both cities take the same numbered eighth on a Tuesday, but Thiruvananthapuram’s eighth is 95 minutes against 107 in Jammu, and several eighths of that difference accumulate before the window opens. A shorter day reaches its own afternoon sooner.

Questions about Jammu on 29 June 2027
What is the Rahu Kaal in Jammu on 29 June 2027?
16:08 to 17:55 IST, running 107 minutes. It is the 7th of eight parts of daylight, and on a Tuesday that is the part the convention assigns. Because it is a fraction of the interval from sunrise (05:25) to sunset (19:42) rather than a fixed clock span, both its start and its length are specific to Jammu on this date.
What time is sunrise in Jammu on 29 June 2027?
05:25 IST, with sunset at 19:42 — 14h 17m of daylight. Computed for 32.7266°N 74.857°E, which is 1 minute earlier than the New Delhi sunrise a national panchang prints for the same date.
Is the tithi different in Jammu?
No. The tithi on 29 June 2027 is Krishna Dashami (Krishna Paksha) and the nakshatra is Ashwini, and both are the same everywhere in India — they are angular relationships between the Sun and the Moon, not local observations. What changes by city is every time on this page, because sunrise, sunset and the five windows derived from them are functions of latitude and longitude.
Is Rahu Kaal always ninety minutes in Jammu?
No. It is one eighth of the interval from sunrise to sunset, so it changes with the date: on 29 June 2027 in Jammu that eighth is 107.1 minutes, and the row above reads 107 minutes because the table prints each endpoint to the whole minute rather than the length itself. Over 2027 the figure moves far enough here that a flat ninety minutes is out by as much as 18 minutes, on nothing but the calendar.

These windows are right for Jammu. Which one is right for you is a different question
Everything above is arithmetic on Jammu’s sunrise, and it is correct to the minute. Whether a particular hour of 29 June 2027 suits a particular undertaking depends on your birth chart, and no page computed from a latitude can answer that.
