The five windows in Lucknow on 2 April 2027

In clock order through the day. Which numbered eighth of daylight Rahu Kaal, Gulika and Yamaghanta each take is fixed by the weekday rather than by the clock, and no two weekdays share the assignment: on a Friday Rahu Kaal is the 4th of the eight, Gulika the 2nd and Yamaghanta the 7th. Sunrise 05:56 to sunset 18:23 is 12h 27m, so an eighth of it runs 93.4 minutes and a fifteenth — which is what Abhijit is — runs 50 minutes. The Length column is the gap between two endpoints each rounded to the whole minute, which is why the three eighths below read 93 minutes apiece.

The five sunrise-derived windows for Lucknow on 2 April 2027, with each one’s length and definition
WindowISTLengthWhat it is
Brahma muhurat04:20–05:5696 minutesa fixed span ending at sunrise — the one row here that is not a fraction of daylight
Gulika Kaal07:29–09:0393 minutesthe 2nd of eight parts of daylight
Rahu Kaal10:36–12:1093 minutesthe 4th of eight parts of daylight
Abhijit muhurat11:45–12:3450 minutesthe 8th of fifteen parts, straddling local midday
Yamaghanta15:16–16:5093 minutesthe 7th of eight parts of daylight

The convention the classical almanacs record is that nothing new is begun inside Rahu Kaal, Gulika or Yamaghanta, and that Abhijit and Brahma muhurat are the day’s two settled windows — Brahma muhurat being the ninety-six minutes ending at sunrise, which is why it is the one window here whose length never changes with the season. What the tradition does not do is grade the rest of the day, and neither does this page. Choosing a window for a purpose needs a chart as well as a clock.

What a national panchang gets wrong in Lucknow today

The column on the right is the site’s own national table for 2 April 2027, computed for New Delhi from the JPL DE421 ephemeris — the numbers /panchang/2027-04-02/ actually prints. It is the same table almost every panchang in the vertical is a copy of. Every limb on it is right for Lucknow; every time on it is wrong, and the last column is by how much.

The widest of them on 2 April 2027 is Sunset, which a national table places 16 minutes later than Lucknow's. Longitude explains most of it: Lucknow sits 3.74° east of New Delhi, and four minutes per degree is the whole of the local-time correction. The rest is latitude, which does not shift sunrise so much as stretch the day — and because Rahu Kaal is a fraction of that day rather than a span on a clock, a stretched day moves the window further than it moves sunrise. That is why the difference in the table above is not one number repeated seven times.

An eighth of the day is not ninety minutes

Rahu Kaal, Gulika and Yamaghanta are each one eighth of the interval from sunrise to sunset. That is a definition, not an approximation, and it means the length of each is a property of the day rather than a fixed quantity anyone can print once. A table quoting a flat ninety minutes is therefore wrong here today by 3 minutes, and wrong in the short direction — it closes the window early. Across 2027 in Lucknow an eighth runs from 78 minutes to 104 minutes, so the error is not a constant either. Abhijit is a fifteenth of the same interval rather than an eighth, so it runs 50 minutes today — a little over half of Rahu Kaal, and it moves with local solar noon rather than with the clock. Brahma muhurat is the exception: fixed at 96 minutes because it is defined as a span before sunrise rather than a fraction of daylight, so in Lucknow it shifts with sunrise and never changes length.

Where 2 April sits in Lucknow’s year

12h 27m of daylight is the 161st longest of Lucknow’s 365 days in 2027. The year’s longest sits 83 minutes above it, on 18 June and 7 other days at the same length; its shortest 120 minutes below, on 17 December and 5 other days at the same length. Since yesterday sunrise has moved 1 minute earlier and sunset has held, so the day is 1 minute longer — and every window above has moved with it. A monthly table hides that; a dated page is where it shows.

Of the 38 cities this site computes, Lucknow is the joint 8th to see the sun on 2 April 2027, sharing the printed minute with one other city. Sunrise across all 38 spans 79 minutes, from 05:13 in Guwahati to 06:32 in Mumbai — and Rahu Kaal’s opening spans 77 minutes, which is the more useful of the two numbers and the one no national table can carry.

The five limbs on 2 April 2027

TithiKrishna Ekadashi (Krishna Paksha)

These five are the same everywhere in India, and they are listed here for completeness rather than because they vary by city — a tithi is an angular relationship between the Sun and the Moon, and an angle does not have a postal address. One caveat is honest and worth stating: the almanac convention is to read each limb at sunrise, and the tabulated values above are read at New Delhi's sunrise. Lucknow’s sunrise is 14 minutes earlier than that, so on a day when a limb turns over inside that gap, the value current at Lucknow’s own sunrise is the neighbouring one. The site does not guess which days those are; where a limb is close to its boundary the honest place to look is the neighbouring-day view on the national page for 2 April 2027, which shows the days on either side for exactly this reason.

Mumbai06:3211:10–12:4293 min+34 min

On 2 April 2027 the two columns happen to run in the same order, which is not something to rely on: because every city takes the same numbered eighth on a Friday and an eighth is a fraction of that city’s own daylight, a place that sees the sun later can reach its Rahu Kaal first whenever its day is enough shorter. Whether that happens depends on the date and on which eighth the weekday assigns, so the ordering here is a fact about 2 April 2027 and not a rule.

Worth noting about 2 April 2027

  • The tithi at sunrise is Krishna Ekadashi, the eleventh of the paksha. Which sunrise an Ekadashi observance is reckoned from differs between sampradayas, so the table states the tithi current at sunrise and nothing beyond it.

Questions about Lucknow on 2 April 2027

What is the Rahu Kaal in Lucknow on 2 April 2027?

10:36 to 12:10 IST, running 93 minutes. It is the 4th of eight parts of daylight, and on a Friday that is the part the convention assigns. Because it is a fraction of the interval from sunrise (05:56) to sunset (18:23) rather than a fixed clock span, both its start and its length are specific to Lucknow on this date.

What time is sunrise in Lucknow on 2 April 2027?

05:56 IST, with sunset at 18:23 — 12h 27m of daylight. Computed for 26.8467°N 80.9462°E, which is 14 minutes earlier than the New Delhi sunrise a national panchang prints for the same date.

Is the tithi different in Lucknow?

No. The tithi on 2 April 2027 is Krishna Ekadashi (Krishna Paksha) and the nakshatra is Shravana, and both are the same everywhere in India — they are angular relationships between the Sun and the Moon, not local observations. What changes by city is every time on this page, because sunrise, sunset and the five windows derived from them are functions of latitude and longitude.

Is Rahu Kaal always ninety minutes in Lucknow?

No. It is one eighth of the interval from sunrise to sunset, so it changes with the date: on 2 April 2027 in Lucknow that eighth is 93.4 minutes, and the row above reads 93 minutes because the table prints each endpoint to the whole minute rather than the length itself. Over 2027 the figure moves far enough here that a flat ninety minutes is out by as much as 14 minutes, on nothing but the calendar.

These windows are right for Lucknow. Which one is right for you is a different question

Everything above is arithmetic on Lucknow’s sunrise, and it is correct to the minute. Whether a particular hour of 2 April 2027 suits a particular undertaking depends on your birth chart, and no page computed from a latitude can answer that.
