Shukla Chaturthi Tithi: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027

10 days in 2026 · 12 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi

Shukla Chaturthi is the 4th of the 30 tithis, the bright fortnight’s 4th. A panchang names a day by the tithi running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Shukla Chaturthi was the tithi at sunrise in New Delhi on 22 days: 10 in 2026 and 12 in 2027. Twice it began after one sunrise and ended before the next, so it named no day at all (between the sunrises of 20 April 2026 and 21 April 2026; 17 July 2026 and 18 July 2026), and it never held two sunrises in a row.

Its number, 4, makes Shukla Chaturthi a rikta (“empty”) tithi, one of the three the muhurat filter rejects in both fortnights, so none of its 22 days is offered as a muhurat day. A list of the days a tithi held sunrise is not a list of vrat days: an observance tied to a tithi is fixed by its own rule, which the festival pages apply one by one.

By weekday, Shukla Chaturthi held sunrise most often on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (4 times) and least on Mondays (1): Sunday 4, Monday 1, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, Friday 2, Saturday 3. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the tithi run on unrelated cycles.

Festivals that fell on a Shukla Chaturthi day: Ganesh Chaturthi (4 September 2027).

In the cycle Shukla Chaturthi comes after Shukla Tritiya and before Shukla Panchami; all 30 are on the tithi index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: शुक्ल चतुर्थी तिथि.
