Shiva Yoga: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027

14 days in 2026 · 13 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi

Shiva is the 20th of the 27 yogas. A panchang names a day by the yoga running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Shiva was the yoga at sunrise in New Delhi on 27 days: 14 in 2026 and 13 in 2027. Twice it began after one sunrise and ended before the next, so it named no day at all (between the sunrises of 20 December 2026 and 21 December 2026; 5 August 2027 and 6 August 2027), and once it held two sunrises in a row, naming two consecutive days (30 May 2026 and 31 May 2026).

Shiva is not among the nine yogas the muhurat filter rejects, so on its 27 days the yoga is no obstacle; the other four limbs still have to pass.

By weekday, Shiva held sunrise most often on Saturdays (5 times) and least on Sundays and Thursdays (3): Sunday 3, Monday 4, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 4, Thursday 3, Friday 4, Saturday 5. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the yoga run on unrelated cycles.

Festivals that fell on a Shiva day: Nirjala Ekadashi (25 June 2026), Hariyali Teej (15 August 2026) and Maha Shivratri (6 March 2027).

In the cycle Shiva comes after Parigha and before Siddha; all 27 are on the yoga index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: शिव योग.
