Rohini Vrat 2027 Dates: 12 Days, None in November

Published 2026-10-26 | Live Pandit Ji

Rohini Vrat (रोहिणी व्रत) is a monthly fast in the Jain calendar, tied not to a lunar day but to a nakshatra. From 26 October 2026 to the end of the site’s daily panchang on 31 December 2027, the Moon stands in Rohini at New Delhi sunrise on fifteen mornings: three more in 2026, starting Thursday 29 October 2026, and twelve in 2027, ending Monday 13 December 2027. One month of 2027 gets none at all, and the section on November below explains why without filling the hole.

What Rohini Vrat Is

Jain calendars mark the vrat on the day the Moon is in Rohini, the fourth of the twenty-seven nakshatras, and Jain vrat books connect it with Vasupujya, the twelfth Tirthankara. Families that keep it differ on what the day’s fast allows and on how long the vow is kept up; this page does not set out a katha or a procedure, and it takes no position on who keeps the vrat or what keeping it brings.

The nakshatra table gives Rohini the Moon as lord, Brahma as presiding deity and a cart as its symbol, with Manushya gana. Its span is Taurus 10°00′ to 23°20′, which places it wholly inside one sign: unlike its neighbours Krittika and Mrigashira, which each straddle a sign boundary, Rohini lies entirely in Taurus (Vrishabha). The Rohini nakshatra page covers the nakshatra itself; this one is only about the calendar.

How the Dates Are Read

This page applies that rule in its plainest form: the vrat day is the day whose sunrise finds the Moon in Rohini. The site’s daily panchang already records the nakshatra current at each New Delhi sunrise, computed from the DE421 ephemeris, so the list is a straight read of that column with nothing interpolated. For each day the table also gives the tithi at the same sunrise, the sunrise itself, and the nakshatra at the following morning’s sunrise, which shows where Rohini hands over.

The site’s table of nakshatra crossings carries rows for the Sun, the other grahas and the nodes, but none for the Moon, so this page has no instant at which Rohini begins or ends and prints none. It reads sunrise and nothing else.

No two of these mornings are consecutive: every listed day is preceded by a sunrise in another nakshatra and followed by one. Across the twelve days of 2027 the weekdays spread unevenly, with three on Mondays, two each on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and one each on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

November 2027: No Rohini Sunrise

After Tuesday 19 October the next Rohini sunrise in the table is Monday 13 December, 55 days later. The Moon does pass through Rohini in between, in mid-November; it simply does so between two sunrises. These are the New Delhi sunrise nakshatras around it:

16 November 2027Tuesday06:44MrigashiraKrishna Tritiya
17 November 2027Wednesday06:44ArdraKrishna Chaturthi

The sunrise of Monday 15 November has the Moon in Krittika; the next morning’s has it already in Mrigashira. The site’s Moon sign-change table puts the Moon in Taurus from 13:42 on 14 November until 17:22 on 16 November, which covers both of those sunrises, and Rohini is the middle stretch of Taurus between the end of Krittika and the start of Mrigashira. So the whole of Rohini falls after the 15 November sunrise and before the 16 November one, and a strict sunrise rule finds no day for it.

This is the nakshatra version of a kshaya tithi, and a printed Jain almanac has to settle it by a rule of its own, and almanacs need not agree with one another on it. This page does not choose among them and gives no November 2027 date. If you keep the vrat, the almanac your own community follows is the place to find the November day.

Why the Gaps Are 27 or 28 Days

The Moon goes once round the twenty-seven nakshatras faster than it goes once from new moon to new moon. In the list above, nine of the gaps between successive Rohini mornings are 27 days and four are 28, a mean of 27.3 days; the new moons in the site’s lunation table are on average 29.5 days apart. Because the nakshatra cycle is the shorter one, each Rohini morning comes a little earlier in the lunar month than the last. The sunrise-tithi column shows it: the window opens on Krishna Chaturthi in the waning fortnight, steps back by one to three tithis each time, crosses Purnima into the waxing fortnight, reaches Shukla Pratipada on 5 June, slips back past the new moon to Krishna Trayodashi on 2 July, and, after the November gap, closes on Purnima.

The same arithmetic gives a calendar month two Rohini mornings now and then, and takes one away elsewhere. In this window July 2027 has two, on 2 July and 29 July, and November 2027 has none. Calendar year 2027 ends up with twelve: one in each of ten months, two in July and none in November.

Where Rohini Hands Over

On thirteen of the fifteen days the next sunrise finds the Moon in Mrigashira, the following nakshatra. On 23 December 2026 and 5 June 2027 it is already in Ardra, meaning Mrigashira comes and goes between two sunrises, the same thing that happens to Rohini in November 2027. Looking back instead of forward, the morning before is Krittika every time but once: before 29 July 2027 the previous sunrise is in Bharani.

Other Observances on the Same Days

Three of the dates coincide with festival rows in the site’s tables. Karva Chauth, fixed there by the Krishna Chaturthi at sunrise, falls on 29 October 2026 and on 19 October 2027 (the Karva Chauth 2027 page has the second), and both mornings are Rohini mornings. Akshaya Tritiya on 8 May 2027 is fixed by the tithi at midday rather than sunrise, which is why that row’s sunrise tithi reads Shukla Dwitiya. These are coincidences of the calendar; the observances are separate and none of them depends on the other.

If You Are Not in New Delhi

The nakshatra at a given instant is the same everywhere; sunrise is not. On a day when Rohini begins or ends close to dawn, a city whose sunrise is well earlier or later than New Delhi’s can read a different nakshatra at its own sunrise. Because the page has no Rohini start and end instants, it cannot say which of the fifteen rows are close calls, and it does not pretend to. The panchang calculator is worked out for New Delhi alone, as this list is; the clock times of sunrise and sunset in other cities during 2026 and 2027 are on the city panchang pages, and the Rohini in the daily panchang page lists every sunrise the nakshatra holds across the tables.

What This Page Does Not Do

It reads one column of a New Delhi table. It does not read anyone’s chart, does not elect a muhurat, does not supply a November 2027 date, and does not say what the vrat brings to the person keeping it. Where a Jain almanac and this list disagree, the almanac is the authority for those who follow it.

Your Own Nakshatra

The dates above are the same for everyone. The nakshatra the Moon held when you were born is a separate question, answered by the birth chart. The Janam Kundli report computes it from date, time and place of birth, with its lord, deity, symbol, nadi and yoni, alongside the lagna, each graha by sign and house, and the dasha sequence with dates. It contains no predictions or remedies, and it does not pick a vrat day.
