Hartalika Teej 2028: Tuesday, 22 August 2028

Hartalika Teej in 2028 falls on Tuesday, 22 August 2028. It is kept on the Shukla Tritiya of amanta Bhadrapada.

Why Hartalika Teej Is on 22 August in 2028

The Shukla Tritiya begins at 08:44 on 22 August 2028 and ends at 05:10 on 23 August 2028. The 2028 instants are the same everywhere; only the clock they are read on changes. The rule recorded for Hartalika Teej tests the tithi at sunrise, the default test for most of the calendar.

On 22 August 2028 the Sun rises at 05:54 and sets at 18:53 at New Delhi. The Shukla Tritiya begins after that sunrise and is over before the next one, so it holds no sunrise at all — a kshaya tithi — and the convention the panchang generator applies, recorded in its source, keeps Hartalika Teej on the day the tithi begins.

In 2028 the Shukla Tritiya lasts 20 hours 26 minutes, against 23 hours 59 minutes in 2026 and 21 hours 29 minutes in 2027: a tithi is twelve degrees of the Moon’s gain on the Sun, and the Moon never gains at a steady rate. The day itself runs 12 hours 59 minutes from sunrise to sunset at New Delhi.

When the Shukla Tritiya begins, the Moon is in Uttara Phalguni, ruled by the Sun.
