Krishna Chaturdashi Tithi: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027
11 days in 2026 · 11 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi
Krishna Chaturdashi is the 29th of the 30 tithis, the dark fortnight’s 14th. A panchang names a day by the tithi running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Krishna Chaturdashi was the tithi at sunrise in New Delhi on 22 days: 11 in 2026 and 11 in 2027. Three times it began after one sunrise and ended before the next, so it named no day at all (between the sunrises of 15 May 2026 and 16 May 2026; 3 June 2027 and 4 June 2027; 30 August 2027 and 31 August 2027), and it never held two sunrises in a row.
Its number, 14, makes Krishna Chaturdashi a rikta (“empty”) tithi, one of the three the muhurat filter rejects in both fortnights, so none of its 22 days is offered as a muhurat day. A list of the days a tithi held sunrise is not a list of vrat days: an observance tied to a tithi is fixed by its own rule, which the festival pages apply one by one.

By weekday, Krishna Chaturdashi held sunrise most often on Sundays (5 times) and least on Tuesdays (1): Sunday 5, Monday 4, Tuesday 1, Wednesday 4, Thursday 3, Friday 2, Saturday 3. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the tithi run on unrelated cycles.
Festivals that fell on a Krishna Chaturdashi day: Diwali (8 November 2026) and Narak Chaturdashi (28 October 2027).
In the cycle Krishna Chaturdashi comes after Krishna Trayodashi and before Amavasya; all 30 are on the tithi index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: कृष्ण चतुर्दशी तिथि.
