Krishna Shashthi Tithi: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027

12 days in 2026 · 10 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi

Krishna Shashthi is the 21st of the 30 tithis, the dark fortnight’s 6th. A panchang names a day by the tithi running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Krishna Shashthi was the tithi at sunrise in New Delhi on 22 days: 12 in 2026 and 10 in 2027. Three times it began after one sunrise and ended before the next, so it named no day at all (between the sunrises of 2 September 2026 and 3 September 2026; 21 September 2027 and 22 September 2027; 18 December 2027 and 19 December 2027), and it never held two sunrises in a row.

Its number, 6, is neither rikta nor among the tithis the muhurat filter favours. A list of the days a tithi held sunrise is not a list of vrat days: an observance tied to a tithi is fixed by its own rule, which the festival pages apply one by one.

By weekday, Krishna Shashthi held sunrise most often on Fridays (5 times) and least on Thursdays (2): Sunday 3, Monday 3, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 3, Thursday 2, Friday 5, Saturday 3. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the tithi run on unrelated cycles.

In the cycle Krishna Shashthi comes after Krishna Panchami and before Krishna Saptami; all 30 are on the tithi index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: कृष्ण षष्ठी तिथि.
