Shukla Navami Tithi: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027

14 days in 2026 · 12 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi

Shukla Navami is the 9th of the 30 tithis, the bright fortnight’s 9th. A panchang names a day by the tithi running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Shukla Navami was the tithi at sunrise in New Delhi on 26 days: 14 in 2026 and 12 in 2027. It never fell between two sunrises without holding one, and twice it held two sunrises in a row, naming two consecutive days (22 July 2026 and 23 July 2026; 18 November 2026 and 19 November 2026).

Its number, 9, makes Shukla Navami a rikta (“empty”) tithi, one of the three the muhurat filter rejects in both fortnights, so none of its 26 days is offered as a muhurat day. A list of the days a tithi held sunrise is not a list of vrat days: an observance tied to a tithi is fixed by its own rule, which the festival pages apply one by one.

By weekday, Shukla Navami held sunrise most often on Tuesdays (5 times) and least on Mondays (2): Sunday 4, Monday 2, Tuesday 5, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4, Friday 4, Saturday 3. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the tithi run on unrelated cycles.

Festivals that fell on a Shukla Navami day: Dussehra (20 October 2026), Maha Navami (20 October 2026), Ram Navami (15 April 2027), Dussehra (9 October 2027) and Maha Navami (9 October 2027).

In the cycle Shukla Navami comes after Shukla Ashtami and before Shukla Dashami; all 30 are on the tithi index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: शुक्ल नवमी तिथि.
