Shukla Ashtami Tithi: Every Day It Held Sunrise, 2026 and 2027
11 days in 2026 · 13 in 2027 · sunrise at New Delhi
Shukla Ashtami is the 8th of the 30 tithis, the bright fortnight’s 8th. A panchang names a day by the tithi running at sunrise, and between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027 Shukla Ashtami was the tithi at sunrise in New Delhi on 24 days: 11 in 2026 and 13 in 2027. Once it began after one sunrise and ended before the next, so it named no day at all (between the sunrises of 24 February 2026 and 25 February 2026), and once it held two sunrises in a row, naming two consecutive days (7 October 2027 and 8 October 2027).
Its number, 8, is neither rikta nor among the tithis the muhurat filter favours. A list of the days a tithi held sunrise is not a list of vrat days: an observance tied to a tithi is fixed by its own rule, which the festival pages apply one by one.

By weekday, Shukla Ashtami held sunrise most often on Mondays and Thursdays (5 times) and least on Sundays and Wednesdays (2): Sunday 2, Monday 5, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 2, Thursday 5, Friday 3, Saturday 4. Over two years that spread is chance, not a pattern; the weekday and the tithi run on unrelated cycles.
Festivals that fell on a Shukla Ashtami day: Ram Navami (26 March 2026), Durga Ashtami (19 October 2026) and Durga Ashtami (7 October 2027).
In the cycle Shukla Ashtami comes after Shukla Saptami and before Shukla Navami; all 30 are on the tithi index. For what the five limbs are and how a day’s panchang is read, see reading the panchang and the guide to choosing a day. This page in Hindi: शुक्ल अष्टमी तिथि.
