The arc between them spans 6 padas, from Ashlesha pada 4 up to Purva Phalguni pada 1, and Mars crosses every degree of it three times: forward before 10 January, backward until 1 April, and forward again afterwards. Mars is in a friend's sign in Leo and debilitated in Cancer.
