Mercury Retrograde 2024: Dates, Signs and Stations

The first window: 2 April to 25 April, in Aries and Pisces

Mercury stations retrograde on 2 April 2024 at 3°02′ Aries, in Ashwini, and stations direct on 25 April 2024 at 21°47′ Pisces, in Revati. Between the two stations it travels back 11.2° of the zodiac over 24 days.

3°02′ Aries, the 2 April station, is in Ashwini pada 1, the Aries navamsa. 21°47′ Pisces, the 25 April station, is in Revati pada 2, the Capricorn navamsa. The arc between them spans 4 padas, from Revati pada 2 up to Ashwini pada 1, and Mercury crosses every degree of it three times: forward before 2 April, backward until 25 April, and forward again afterwards. Mercury is in a neutral sign in Aries and debilitated in Pisces.

That arc crosses a sign boundary, so the 2 April retrograde of 2024 begins in Aries and ends in Pisces. The day of that backward re-entry is outside the 2026–2028 ingress table, so this page does not give one.

The site’s ingress, nakshatra and conjunction tables run from 2026 to 2028, so for the 2024 window they have nothing to add, and this page adds nothing in their place.

The second window: 5 August to 29 August, in Leo and Cancer

Mercury stations retrograde on 5 August 2024 at 9°54′ Leo, in Magha, and stations direct on 29 August 2024 at 27°13′ Cancer, in Ashlesha. Between the two stations it travels back 12.7° of the zodiac over 24 days.

9°54′ Leo, the 5 August station, is in Magha, close enough to a pada edge that the pada depends on the ayanamsa. 27°13′ Cancer, the 29 August station, is in Ashlesha pada 4, the Pisces navamsa. The arc between them spans 4 padas, from Ashlesha pada 4 up to Magha pada 3, and Mercury crosses every degree of it three times: forward before 5 August, backward until 29 August, and forward again afterwards. Mercury is in a friend's sign in Leo and in an enemy's sign in Cancer.

That arc crosses a sign boundary, so the 5 August retrograde of 2024 begins in Leo and ends in Cancer. The day of that backward re-entry is outside the 2026–2028 ingress table, so this page does not give one.

The site’s ingress, nakshatra and conjunction tables run from 2026 to 2028, so for the 2024 window they have nothing to add, and this page adds nothing in their place.

It begins 125 days after the previous Mercury retrograde began on 2 April 2024, and 102 days after that one ended.

The third window: 26 November to 16 December, in Scorpio

Mercury stations retrograde on 26 November 2024 at 28°28′ Scorpio, in Jyeshtha, and stations direct on 16 December 2024 at 12°11′ Scorpio, in Anuradha. Between the two stations it travels back 16.3° of the zodiac over 20 days.

28°28′ Scorpio, the 26 November station, is in Jyeshtha pada 4, the Pisces navamsa. 12°11′ Scorpio, the 16 December station, is in Anuradha pada 3, the Libra navamsa. The arc between them spans 6 padas, from Anuradha pada 3 up to Jyeshtha pada 4, and Mercury crosses every degree of it three times: forward before 26 November, backward until 16 December, and forward again afterwards. Mercury is in a neutral sign in Scorpio.

The whole 16.3° lies inside Scorpio, so for the 26 November retrograde of 2024 there is no sign change to date: Mercury in Scorpio covers all 20 days.

The site’s ingress, nakshatra and conjunction tables run from 2026 to 2028, so for the 2024 window they have nothing to add, and this page adds nothing in their place.

It begins 113 days after the previous Mercury retrograde began on 5 August 2024, and 89 days after that one ended.
