Mercury in Scorpio is in a neutral sign. Scorpio is ruled by Mars, and Mercury counts Mars neutral.

The relationship is not mutual, and that is the most useful thing on this page. Mercury regards Mars as neutral, but Mars regards Mercury as an enemy. Every graha casts a full aspect on the 7th house from itself, and Mercury has no special drishti beyond it, so the 7th is the whole of its reach. Counting from Scorpio, that lands on:

• 7th from Scorpio → Taurus (Vrishabha), ruled by Venus.

Taurus is not one of Mercury’s own rashis, so the single aspect Mercury throws from Scorpio lands on Venus’s territory. Whose territory it is decides how the aspect is received.

• 2 December 2026 to 22 December 2026 — 20 days, after which Mercury moves on to Sagittarius.
• 26 November 2027 to 15 December 2027 — 19 days, after which Mercury moves on to Sagittarius.

Dates rather than clock times, because that is what a placement question needs. The ingress instants are computed and are printed on the monthly readings, where they matter for choosing a day.

Mercury also combusts: within 14° of the Sun when direct, 12° when retrograde — and Mercury is never far from the Sun, so combustion is common. A combust Mercury in Scorpio is read as weakened whatever the dignity above says, which is the standard case where the textbook verdict and the actual sky disagree.

Reading Mercury in Scorpio

Mercury signifies speech, writing, trade, accounts, mathematics, maternal uncles, students. In Scorpio those significations are filtered through a sthira water sign ruled by Mars, and the dignity above says how much support they get in the process.
