Mercury in Aries is in a neutral sign. Aries is ruled by Mars, and Mercury counts Mars neutral.

The relationship is not mutual, and that is the most useful thing on this page. Mercury regards Mars as neutral, but Mars regards Mercury as an enemy. The classical friendship table is asymmetric, which readers almost always assume it is not. • 30 April 2026 to 15 May 2026 — 15 days, after which Mercury moves on to Taurus.
• 22 April 2027 to 6 May 2027 — 14 days, after which Mercury moves on to Taurus.

Dates rather than clock times, because that is what a placement question needs. The ingress instants are computed and are printed on the monthly readings, where they matter for choosing a day.

Mercury also combusts: within 14° of the Sun when direct, 12° when retrograde — and Mercury is never far from the Sun, so combustion is common. A combust Mercury in Aries is read as weakened whatever the dignity above says, which is the standard case where the textbook verdict and the actual sky disagree.

Mercury signifies speech, writing, trade, accounts, mathematics, maternal uncles, students. In Aries those significations are filtered through a chara fire sign ruled by Mars, and the dignity above says how much support they get in the process.
