Saturn in Aries is debilitated. Aries is ruled by Mars, and Saturn counts Mars an enemy.

The relationship is not mutual, and that is the most useful thing on this page. Saturn regards Mars as an enemy, but Mars regards Saturn as neutral. The classical friendship table is asymmetric, which readers almost always assume it is not. In practice it means Saturn settles into Aries more warily than the host intends, so the placement behaves differently depending on which of the two is the stronger graha in the chart.

Aries is a chara fire sign governing the head, and Saturn is reckoned malefic, governing karma, discipline, longevity, hard work. Whatever Saturn signifies — longevity, karma, labour, servants, old age, iron, coal, and delay itself — is what this rashi’s restlessness moves along. Every graha casts a full aspect on the 7th house from itself, and Saturn adds the 3rd and the 10th — Saturn alone aspects the 3rd and 10th. Counting from Aries, that lands on:

• 3rd from Aries → Gemini (Mithuna), ruled by Mercury.
• 7th from Aries → Libra (Tula), ruled by Venus.
• 10th from Aries → Capricorn (Makara), ruled by Saturn. Saturn rules this sign, so it is aspecting its own house from Aries.

Note the one that matters: at least one sign Saturn aspects from Aries is a sign Saturn itself rules. A graha aspecting its own rashi protects it, and it is the strongest single argument for reading this placement generously.

How Far Aries Is From Saturn’s Own Ground

A graha is read partly by how far it has been displaced from the rashi it owns, and that distance is simple counting. Counting inclusively from Capricorn and from Aquarius, Aries falls as follows:

• 3rd from Aquarius — a 3/11, the upachaya pairing.

This is the part of the page that is not in a textbook. Computed from the DE421 sidereal ephemeris, Saturn occupies Aries for one stretch inside 2026 and 2027:

• 3 June 2027 to 20 October 2027 — 139 days, after which Saturn moves on to Pisces.

Dates, not clock times, and deliberately so. Saturn crosses this boundary at well under a tenth of a degree per day, which means the exact instant of the ingress depends on which ayanamsa a table uses rather than on the solar system. The day is solid; a minute would be a decoration.

Saturn also combusts: within 15° of the Sun. A combust Saturn in Aries is read as weakened whatever the dignity above says, which is the standard case where the textbook verdict and the actual sky disagree.

Reading Saturn in Aries

Saturn signifies longevity, karma, labour, servants, old age, iron, coal, and delay itself. In Aries those significations are filtered through a chara fire sign ruled by Mars, and the dignity above says how much support they get in the process. At debilitation they arrive without the host’s backing, so they depend on aspects, dispositor and dasha to reach anything.

This is not a prediction, and it cannot be one: the house Aries occupies from the ascendant, which of the nine padas above holds the graha, and the running dasha all change the answer.
