Grand Trine and T-Square Dates 2026–2028 (Sky Patterns)

Published 2026-10-28 | Live Pandit Ji

No aspect pattern is in orb on 28 October 2026. The last one, a T-square of Mars opposite Pluto with Venus at the apex, dropped out of orb on 14 October 2026. The next will be another T-square: the Sun opposite Uranus, with Mars at the apex, in orb 21–29 November 2026. From 2026 to 2028 the sky holds seven grand trines, 12 kites and 17 T-squares by the count this page uses, and no grand cross.

Every row below comes from an hourly run of the JPL DE421 ephemeris over the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. The Moon is left out by choice: at roughly 13° a day it passes through any 6° orb in about a day. A row is a stretch of consecutive hours in which every leg of the pattern is within 6° of its exact angle, so the dates are good to the day and no time of day is quoted. “Tightest” is the smallest value the worst leg reaches in that stretch, and the signs in the tables are each body’s sign on the date of that tightest value.

How Western Astrologers Draw These Figures

In modern Western astrology a grand trine is three bodies each about 120° from the other two, an equilateral triangle on the zodiac. A kite, as modern Western astrologers draw it, is a grand trine with a fourth body opposite one corner, which puts the fourth body about 60° from each of the other two corners; this page calls the fourth body the tail. A T-square is two bodies in opposition with a third about 90° from both; Western writers call that third body the apex. A grand cross is four bodies in two oppositions, each about 90° from its neighbours.

“About” is where the convention lives. This page counts a pattern only while every leg is within 6° of exact, and that is a choice: other writers use wider orbs, narrower ones, or a different orb for each body. The choice changes the census. At a 3° orb only 16 of the 36 rows would still appear (and over shorter stretches): 4 of the 7 grand trines, 5 of the 12 kites and 7 of the 17 T-squares. The three grand trines lost at 3° are the September 2027 ones of Mercury, Venus and the Sun. The mystic rectangle, another four-body figure of two oppositions joined by trines and sextiles, is not searched for here at all.

All 19 grand trines and kites are built on one slow trine: Uranus in tropical Gemini and Pluto in tropical Aquarius, exact on 18 July 2026, 29 November 2026, 15 June 2027, 13 January 2028 and 10 May 2028. A faster body completes the triangle when it passes the third corner in Libra. That happens seven times: Venus, Mercury, the Sun and Mars each take a turn, and the Sun, Mercury and Venus each do it in both 2026 and 2027. The tightest is the Venus trine of 6–17 August 2026, at 1.34°; the longest is the Mars one of 20 July – 4 August 2027, about a fortnight. The September 2027 trines are looser, none closer than 4.80°, and after 4 October 2027 there is no grand trine at all to the end of 2028.

Each of the seven grand trines also forms a kite with Neptune, which sits in tropical Aries opposite the Libra corner, and so opposite the faster body each time. The other five kites have Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, the Sun and Venus as the tail, in tropical Leo opposite Pluto. A kite adds legs to a trine, so it can never be tighter than the trine it sits on, and the table bears that out row by row.

The search for a “grand air trine in September 2026” finds two rows here, since two grand trines begin that month: Mercury–Uranus–Pluto, 10–16 September 2026 and Sun–Uranus–Pluto, 22 September – 2 October 2026. Both are air trines only in the tropical zodiac. Under Lahiri the same three bodies fall in Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn, earth signs, because each body’s sidereal sign is the one before its tropical sign in every row of this table. The angles are untouched by the switch; only the labels move. A “grand fire trine” does not occur in either zodiac at 6°. The Jupiter–Saturn trine, exact on 1 September 2026, 3 April 2027 and 12 July 2027 with both bodies in tropical fire signs each time, never picks up a third body within the orb.

Mars is in 10 of the 17 T-squares, at the apex in three of them. The tightest and also the longest is Mercury opposite Mars with Uranus at the apex, 2–22 February 2027, at 0.14° on 17 February 2027, closer than any trine in the census. After 22 July 2027 no T-square forms for just over a year, until 26 July 2028. Seven of the eight T-squares of 2028 contain Saturn and Pluto, because the two are square (exact on 24 June 2028 and 15 November 2028) and each of those seven closes when a faster body reaches the point opposite Saturn or Pluto. The outer-planet aspects page dates that Saturn–Pluto square, the Uranus–Pluto trine and the other slow aspects one by one.

Modality: Why a T-Square Can Span Two

Western astrologers sort the signs into three modalities, cardinal, fixed and mutable, which repeat in that order round the zodiac starting from Aries (Aries cardinal, Taurus fixed, Gemini mutable, Cancer cardinal again); the classical Indian names for the same three groups are chara, sthira and dvisvabhava. Four signs 90° apart share a modality, which is why T-squares are labelled “cardinal” or “fixed”. But the pattern is measured in degrees and the label in signs, and a 6° orb lets a leg reach across a sign edge.

Under Lahiri every one of the 17 T-squares lands in a single modality. In the tropical zodiac three do not: 8–16 August 2026 (cardinal + mutable), 21–29 November 2026 (mutable + fixed) and 3–5 January 2027 (fixed + mutable). And in each of the other 14, the two zodiacs give different modalities: the first of them, 28 September – 7 October 2026, for instance, is fixed in a tropical almanac and cardinal in a Lahiri one. One leg can even split an opposition across signs: in 3–5 January 2027 Venus and Uranus are in tropical Scorpio and Gemini, signs that do not face each other, though the two are within 6° of 180°.

The next T-square is one of the three mixed ones. In it, the Sun is in tropical Sagittarius and Uranus in Gemini, both mutable, while Mars at the apex is still in Leo, a fixed sign, because a 90° leg inside the orb can reach back across a sign edge. Under Lahiri the three fall in Scorpio, Taurus and Leo, all fixed.

No Grand Cross at a 6° Orb

The search covered every set of four of the nine bodies, with each body tried in each position, and found no hour from 2026 to 2028 when two oppositions sat square to each other with all six legs inside 6°. A T-square is three corners of a grand cross; none of the 17 gets its fourth corner filled. A list that does show a grand cross in these years must be using a wider orb, another body list or the Moon; that is a choice of its own, not an error on either side.

How This Differs From Graha Drishti

The Vedic system of aspects works another way. In the drishti table on the graha drishti page, a graha aspects whole signs, with no orb at all, and the table covers the seven grahas and the nodes; Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have no row in it, so not one of the patterns above has a counterpart there. The sign arithmetic does line up in one place. The corners of every grand trine in the table are four signs apart in both zodiacs, the 5th and 9th from one another, and among the seven grahas in the drishti table only Jupiter carries a special aspect on those counts. For the nodes the table records that traditions differ: some give Rahu Jupiter’s 5th, 7th and 9th, and classical texts give neither node an aspect of its own. An opposition between two signs is the 7th, which every one of the seven grahas aspects. Where a planet’s own opposition to the Sun is the question, the Mars, Jupiter and Saturn opposition dates give the instant for each; and for bodies bunched into one sign rather than spread round the circle, see the stellium dates.

What Comes Next

After the T-square of 21–29 November 2026, the next grand trine will be Mars, Uranus and Pluto, in orb 20 July – 4 August 2027, with kites forming inside it. The rest of the calendar is in the two tables above, in date order.

What This Page Does Not Give

No figure in these tables is given a significance here, whether for someone’s chart, a zodiac sign, a nation or prices. The tables record where nine bodies stood relative to one another, and that geometry is equally true whatever anyone makes of it, so it cannot be the evidence for an interpretation. Times of day are left out as well: every stretch in the tables lasts more than a day, and the hour a pattern enters an orb depends on the orb.

In Brief

  • Census 2026 to 2028, every leg within 6°: seven grand trines, 12 kites, 17 T-squares, no grand cross
  • Grand trines: all on the Uranus–Pluto trine; air signs in the tropical zodiac, earth signs under Lahiri; none in 2028
  • September 2026: Mercury–Uranus–Pluto, 10–16 September 2026 and Sun–Uranus–Pluto, 22 September – 2 October 2026
  • T-squares: Mars in 10 of 17; the 2028 ones mostly on the Saturn–Pluto square; three span two modalities in the tropical zodiac, none under Lahiri
  • Next: T-square 21–29 November 2026; next grand trine 20 July – 4 August 2027
  • At a 3° orb: 16 of the 36 rows remain

The Angle Left Out: Conjunctions

Every figure above is made of oppositions, squares, trines and sextiles. Two bodies at the same longitude are a conjunction, and the conjunctions section dates each meeting of two grahas in the site’s sidereal table, pair by pair; it covers the Sun, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and the nodes, not the Moon or the outer planets.
