Jupiter Transit 2027: Every Guru Gochar Date

Three Signs in One Year (गुरु गोचर 2027)

The site’s table of average pace gives Jupiter, Guru or Brihaspati, about one year per sign, and a date list built on that average would put the whole of 2027 in one sign. The ephemeris puts it in three. Jupiter opens the year in Leo already moving backwards, slips back into Cancer in January, turns direct there in April, returns to Leo at the end of June and crosses into Virgo at the end of November. Its only station of the calendar year is the direct one, on 13 April 2027.

What follows is the calendar year 2027 on its own terms: every dated event in order, the days each sign gets, how firm each printed time is, and the three conjunctions that fall inside one August fortnight.

Every Jupiter Date in 2027

The rows merge the site’s sign-ingress, station, nakshatra-crossing and conjunction tables, computed from the JPL DE421 ephemeris with the Lahiri ayanamsa. Times are IST and appear only on the three sign changes; everything else is dated by the day. The last column gives the standing of the sign in the classical dignity and friendship tables that the site’s planet data records.

The conjunction table also holds Jupiter–Ketu rows for 2027. Those are computed on the mean node, so none of them is printed here. The Virgo spell carries on past 31 December; the next row is in 2028.

Why the October 2026 Leo Entry Does Not Hold

A search for the date Jupiter enters Leo turns up 31 October 2026, and that crossing is real. But Jupiter stations retrograde in Leo on 13 December 2026, and the backward motion takes it over the boundary into Cancer on 25 January 2027. It stations direct in Cancer on 13 April 2027, a retrograde of 121 days, and crosses forward into Leo again on 26 June 2027. That second entry is the one that holds: it comes 238 days after the first. The stations are given by the day only, because a planet at its station is barely moving and no minute would mean anything. For anyone asking when Jupiter is direct in Cancer: the station of 13 April falls inside the Cancer spell, and the retrograde table’s own longitude for it lies in Ashlesha, the last nakshatra of the sign. Jupiter had first entered Cancer on 2 June 2026, so 2027 brings no new Cancer transit, only a return to a sign it had left in October.

Days in Each Sign in 2027

Cut at its three sign changes, the calendar year falls into four spells that add up to 365 days. Leo gets 177 days of 2027 across its two spells, just under half the year, and the second of those is the longest single stretch. Cancer gets 152 in one unbroken spell, and Virgo only the last 36 days.

On the classical tables, Cancer is Jupiter’s sign of exaltation, so 152 days of 2027 are spent there, the direct station among them. Leo belongs to the Sun, which Jupiter’s row in that table lists as a friend; Virgo belongs to Mercury, which the same row lists as an enemy. Its own signs, Sagittarius and Pisces, and its debilitation sign, Capricorn, are not occupied at any point in the year. These are classifications in a table, and no outcome is attached to any of them here.

Where the Aspects Fall

The Parashari scheme in the site’s planet data gives Jupiter the 5th and 9th as special aspects on top of the 7th that every graha casts, and the right-hand column of the table above counts them from each sign. From every sign Jupiter occupies in 2027, one of the three aspects falls on Sagittarius or Pisces, the signs it owns.

The aspect count also runs into Saturn’s year. Saturn enters Aries on 3 June 2027 and backs into Pisces on 20 October 2027, both dated by the day only, since Saturn moves too slowly for a minute; the Saturn transit 2027 page tells that story. Laid against Jupiter’s rows, a Jupiter aspect falls on the sign Saturn occupies on 281 of the year’s 365 days, in three stretches, each beginning on one of Jupiter’s own sign changes:

• 25 January to 2 June, 129 days: Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn in Pisces, which is the ninth sign from Jupiter.
• 26 June to 19 October, 116 days: Jupiter in Leo, Saturn in Aries, which is the ninth sign from Jupiter.
• 26 November to 31 December, 36 days: Jupiter in Virgo, Saturn in Pisces, which is the seventh sign from Jupiter.

In the last stretch the two face each other across the seventh, and Saturn’s own seventh aspect falls back on Virgo, so the aspect runs both ways. The gaps between the stretches are the weeks when one of the two has changed sign and the other has not yet. All of this is counting on the scheme; what an aspect amounts to depends on the houses those signs are in a given chart.

How Firm the Printed Times Are

The site prints a minute only for a crossing made at 0.1° a day or faster. At that bar a single arcminute of longitude is worth 4 hours of clock time, and Jupiter’s three crossings in 2027 are not far above it. A small disagreement in longitude, such as two almanacs using slightly different ayanamsa values, therefore moves these times by hours, not minutes:

• Cancer, 25 January, 02:15 IST: 0.118° a day (backwards), so one arcminute is about 3 hours 23 minutes.
• Leo, 26 June, 04:48 IST: 0.173° a day, so one arcminute is about 2 hours 19 minutes.
• Virgo, 26 November, 18:03 IST: 0.131° a day, so one arcminute is about 3 hours 3 minutes.

At those rates the dates themselves are soft. The Cancer return at 02:15 IST is less than one arcminute of motion past midnight, so a reckoning that differs by a single arcminute can print it on 24 January. The Leo re-entry at 04:48 IST is about 2.1 arcminutes past midnight, and the Virgo entry at 18:03 IST is about 1.9 arcminutes short of the next midnight. Every one of the year’s three sign-change dates could move by a day under a disagreement of two or three arcminutes. Separately, the Cancer crossing and the Leo crossing fall before 05:30 IST, so a sidereal ephemeris kept in UTC prints both on the previous date. A one-day difference between two lists is usually this, not an error in either.

Nakshatras in 2027 (गुरु नक्षत्र गोचर)

Jupiter changes nakshatra four times in 2027, and two of those changes are the sign changes themselves: Cancer ends with Ashlesha and Leo opens with Magha, so the boundaries coincide. The other two fall in the second Leo spell: Purva Phalguni on 31 August 2027 and Uttara Phalguni on 4 November 2027, which Jupiter then carries over into Virgo, because that nakshatra straddles the two signs in the site’s nakshatra table. The Purva Phalguni crossing comes so early on its IST date that UTC lists show the day before. The Leo page sets out each nakshatra’s lord and symbol; this page names no pada.

Two absences are worth knowing. None of the nakshatras the site’s planet data gives to Jupiter, Punarvasu, Vishakha and Purva Bhadrapada, is reached in 2027. And although the nakshatra table names Brihaspati as the deity of Pushya, Jupiter itself does not go back into Pushya in this loop: the retrograde stops inside Cancer’s last nakshatra.

Three Conjunctions in Twelve Days

All of Jupiter’s non-node meetings in 2027 come in one cluster in Leo, inside a span of 12 calendar days:

• 20 August 2027: Mercury, about 11.0° into Leo.
• 26 August 2027: Venus, about 12.3° into Leo.
• 31 August 2027: the Sun, about 13.4° into Leo.

Jupiter barely moves across those days, so the three fall within a few degrees of one another; it is the faster bodies that do the closing. The classical friendship table treats the three differently, and not symmetrically. Jupiter’s row lists Mercury and Venus as enemies, while each of their rows counts Jupiter neutral; the rows for the Sun and Jupiter name each other as friends. Into Virgo, and Out Again in 2028

The 26 November 2027 entry into Virgo repeats the pattern of the Leo one. Jupiter stations retrograde in Virgo on 12 January 2028, backs into Leo on 28 February 2028 after a first Virgo spell of 94 days, and re-enters Virgo later that year before reaching Libra on 26 December 2028. Which House Jupiter Occupies From Your Moon Sign

In gochara the sign holding the Moon at birth, the janma rashi, is house one, and the count runs forward from it. The grid does that count for each of Jupiter’s 2027 signs, and each number links to the site’s page for that house. Because the three signs are neighbours, each row steps by one house: the Cancer column is always one house before the Leo column, and the Virgo column one after. Counting from the Moon leaves most of a reading out.
