Jupiter in Leo 2026: Guru Gochar Singh Rashi Dates

The Entry Date, and Why It Is Not the Whole Story (गुरु का सिंह राशि में गोचर)

Jupiter — Guru, or Brihaspati — crosses from Cancer into Leo, Simha rashi, on 31 October 2026. That is the date the sidereal ephemeris behind this site gives. On its own, though, an entry date gives a misleading picture of the months that follow.

The site’s own table of average pace says Jupiter spends about one year in each sign, which is a mean over an orbit of 11.86 years. In practice Jupiter’s stay in Leo arrives in pieces, because 43 days after the entry it turns retrograde (vakri), backs out of Leo, spends 152 days in Cancer, and only then comes forward again. The pieces are what a reader of this transit needs.

This page gives the day for every event and no clock time for any of them. At the entry Jupiter is moving 0.12° a day, only just above the 0.1° a day below which the site’s ingress table refuses to publish a minute at all; a small difference in ayanamsa moves an instant like that by hours. Stations, where the apparent motion reverses, get dates too.

Three Spells in Leo, Not One

Read in order off the tables, Jupiter’s passage through Leo runs like this:

• 31 October 2026: enters Leo, moving forward.
• 13 December 2026: stations retrograde, still in Leo.
• 25 January 2027: moving backwards, leaves Leo and re-enters Cancer.
• 13 April 2027: stations direct, in Cancer.
• 26 June 2027: enters Leo for the second time.
• 26 November 2027: leaves Leo for Virgo.
• 28 February 2028: retrograde again, backs out of Virgo into Leo for a third spell, turning direct inside Leo on 14 May 2028.
• 24 July 2028: leaves Leo for good.

Counted from the date of entry to the date of exit, the first spell is 86 days, the second 153 days and the third 147 days: 386 days in Leo all told, spread across three calendar years. The second spell is the longest and the only one in which Jupiter moves forward from start to finish. The first is short because the retrograde turn comes so early: on 13 December 2026 Jupiter has got less than three degrees into the sign. The Cancer interlude between the first two spells is 152 days. Before the entry, Jupiter had been in Cancer since 2 June 2026, 151 days earlier — that is the transit covered by the site’s older Jupiter transit 2026 article, which deals with the June entry into Cancer and not with this one. A search for “guru gochar 2026 to 2027” is, in effect, asking about all of the above at once: one sign change in June, another in October, a retreat in January and a return in June.

One calendar caution. Every date here is the Indian Standard Time date. The retreat into Cancer on 25 January 2027 and the return to Leo on 26 June 2027 both happen early enough in the IST day that the same instant still falls on the previous date in UTC, and therefore in the Americas. A Western almanac that prints 24 January 2027 and 25 June 2027 is describing the same moments, not disagreeing.

The Nakshatras Jupiter Passes Through (नक्षत्र)

Leo opens with Magha, so the sign boundary and the nakshatra boundary are the same line: the ingress table and the nakshatra-crossing table give the identical instant for Jupiter entering Leo and entering Magha. In the first spell Jupiter never gets out of Magha, which occupies Leo 0°00′ – 13°20′; the station falls in its opening degrees, and when Jupiter backs into Cancer on 25 January 2027 it lands in Ashlesha, the last nakshatra of Cancer (Cancer 16°40′ – 30°00′). The direct station on 13 April 2027 also falls inside Ashlesha.

The second spell is the one that crosses the sign. Jupiter re-enters Magha with Leo on 26 June 2027, moves into Purva Phalguni on 31 August 2027 and into Uttara Phalguni on 4 November 2027, 22 days before it leaves the sign. Uttara Phalguni is the nakshatra that straddles the boundary (Leo 26°40′ – Virgo 10°00′), so Jupiter carries it on into Virgo.

Jupiter and the Sun’s Sign

Leo is ruled by the Sun, and in the classical natural-friendship table (naisargika maitri) the relation runs both ways: the Sun is listed among Jupiter’s friends (Sun, Moon, Mars) and Jupiter among the Sun’s (Moon, Mars, Jupiter). That is the whole basis on which the site’s Jupiter in Leo page describes the placement as in a friend’s sign. Leo exalts and debilitates none of the seven grahas, so there is no further dignity to state, and this page will not invent one. What is worth noticing is the direction of travel: Jupiter’s exaltation sign is Cancer, the sign it is leaving, and the retrograde loop takes it back there for the 152-day interlude.

The Parashari aspect scheme gives Jupiter drishti on the 5th, 7th and 9th signs from wherever it sits. From Leo those are Sagittarius (Dhanu, the 5th), Aquarius (Kumbha, the 7th) and Aries (Mesha, the 9th). What that means for a person depends on where those signs fall in their chart.

During the second spell the sign’s own lord passes Jupiter: the conjunction table has the Sun and Jupiter at the same longitude in Leo on 31 August 2027, the same date Jupiter crosses into Purva Phalguni.

Mars Enters Leo, and the Mars–Jupiter Conjunction (गुरु-मंगल युति)

On 12 November 2026, 12 days into the transit, Mars (Mangal) enters Leo as well. Mars is the faster body and closes the gap, and the tables give the exact conjunction on 16 November 2026, at about 1.7° of Leo, inside Magha, while Jupiter is still moving forward. The friendship table lists Mars and Jupiter as friends of each other, so this is a meeting of two mutually friendly grahas in the sign of a third that both list as a friend.

The page gives the day and not the minute. Mars on its own is fast enough to time, but the instant of a conjunction is set by how quickly the gap between the two bodies closes, which is Mars’s speed less Jupiter’s; and with Jupiter slowing towards its station that difference is the figure that governs the error, not Mars’s speed alone.

Mars then makes a loop of its own. It stations retrograde in Leo on 10 January 2027, follows Jupiter back into Cancer on 10 March 2027, returns to Leo on 26 April 2027 ahead of Jupiter, and leaves for Virgo on 5 July 2027, 9 days after Jupiter’s return. Although both planets run the Leo–Cancer–Leo route in the same months, the conjunction table records only the one exact meeting.

Which House Leo Is From Your Moon Sign (चंद्र राशि से भाव)

In the gochara method the site’s tables follow, a transit is placed by counting from the janma rashi — the sign the Moon occupied at birth — with that sign as the 1st. The table below does only that counting. The third column is the house’s classical name as the site’s house tables record it, following the Parashari scheme, and the last links that house’s own page. A house’s name tells you its subject matter. It is not a forecast about that subject, and this page makes none for any sign.

During the Cancer interlude every row moves back by one house, so the count above applies only to the Leo spells. The count is from the Moon, not from the Sun sign; the difference is the subject of Sun sign vs Moon sign.

What the table cannot do is read the transit. A house counted from the Moon is one input; a reading of a gochara also takes in the natal chart’s lagna, which house Leo occupies from it, what natal planets sit in Leo or in the signs Jupiter aspects, what Jupiter rules in that chart, and the dasha running at the time. In Short

Jupiter enters Leo on 31 October 2026 and leaves it, after a retrograde loop through Cancer, on 26 November 2027, with a third spell that begins retrograde from 28 February 2028 to 24 July 2028. Mars meets it in Leo on 16 November 2026. Every figure is a day, because for slow ingresses, stations and a slow-closing conjunction the day is what survives a change of ephemeris or ayanamsa.
