Jupiter in Virgo is in an enemy's sign. Virgo is ruled by Mercury, and Jupiter counts Mercury an enemy.

The relationship is not mutual, and that is the most useful thing on this page. Jupiter regards Mercury as an enemy, but Mercury regards Jupiter as neutral. The classical friendship table is asymmetric, which readers almost always assume it is not. In practice it means Jupiter settles into Virgo more warily than the host intends, so the placement behaves differently depending on which of the two is the stronger graha in the chart.

Jupiter also combusts: within 11° of the Sun. A combust Jupiter in Virgo is read as weakened whatever the dignity above says, which is the standard case where the textbook verdict and the actual sky disagree.

Reading Jupiter in Virgo

Jupiter signifies children, teachers and gurus, higher learning, dharma, wealth, and the husband in a woman's chart. In Virgo those significations are filtered through a dvisvabhava earth sign ruled by Mercury, and the dignity above says how much support they get in the process.
