graha in rashi

Jupiter in Pisces (Guru in Meena)

Benefic · Water · Dvisvabhava · ruled by Jupiter

Jupiter in Pisces is in its own sign. Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, which is Jupiter itself — so the graha here is its own dispositor, and there is no third party to route its results through.

Pisces is a dvisvabhava water sign governing the feet, and Jupiter is reckoned benefic, governing wisdom, dharma, wealth, children, teachers. Whatever Jupiter signifies children, teachers and gurus, higher learning, dharma, wealth, and the husband in a woman's chart — is what this rashi’s dual nature splits in two.

The Dignity, Stated Precisely

  • In Pisces: in its own sign.
  • Jupiter’s own signs: Sagittarius and Pisces.
  • Exalted in: Cancer, deepest at 5°.
  • Debilitated in: Capricorn.
  • Moolatrikona: Sagittarius 0°–10°.
  • Pisces’s lord: Jupiter. Pisces exalts Venus at 27° and debilitates Mercury at 15°.

What Jupiter Aspects From Pisces

Every graha casts a full aspect on the 7th house from itself, and Jupiter adds the 5th and the 9ththe trinal aspect, the most benevolent in the system. Counting from Pisces, that lands on:

  • 5th from PiscesCancer (Karka), ruled by Moon.
  • 7th from PiscesVirgo (Kanya), ruled by Mercury.
  • 9th from PiscesScorpio (Vrishchika), ruled by Mars.

None of the 3 signs Jupiter aspects from Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, so its drishti here falls entirely on territory belonging to other grahas. Whose territory it is decides how the aspect is received.

How Far Pisces Is From Jupiter’s Own Ground

A graha is read partly by how far it has been displaced from the rashi it owns, and that distance is simple counting. Counting inclusively from Sagittarius and from Pisces, Pisces falls as follows:

  • 4th from Sagittariusa square, both of them kendra houses.
  • 1st from Piscesthe same rashi. This is Jupiter’s own rashi, so there is no displacement at all.
  • 9th from Cancer, the sign of its exaltationa trine, the easiest of the distances.
  • 3rd from Capricorn, the sign of its fall — a 3/11, the upachaya pairing.
  • Opposite Pisces stands Virgo, ruled by Mercury — the rashi Jupiter faces from here, and therefore the one it aspects whatever else it does or does not aspect.

The Company Jupiter Keeps in Pisces

Dignity runs in both directions, and the rashi has its own roster. Pisces runs from 330°00′ to 360°00′ of sidereal longitude — the arc the Sun crosses about Mar 15 – Apr 13 — faces north, is classed female, and as a water sign is of the Brahmin varna. Within those thirty degrees:

  • Ruled by Jupiter — which is Jupiter itself.
  • Exalts Venus at 27° — not Jupiter, so the strongest single degree of Pisces is not Jupiter’s.
  • Debilitates Mercury at 15°, a different graha from Jupiter.
  • Holds no moolatrikona. Pisces contains no graha’s moolatrikona stretch, so there is no privileged arc within it.

So Jupiter shares Pisces with both an exaltation degree and a debilitation degree belonging to other grahas. A graha sitting close to either point is read against it, which is a reason the exact degree matters more in Pisces than in a sign carrying neither. Pisces’s own traits — compassionate, intuitive, artistic, dreamy, sensitive — are the register in which wisdom, dharma, wealth, children, teachers gets expressed when Jupiter sits here.

The Nine Padas Jupiter Crosses in Pisces

A rashi is thirty degrees and a pada is three degrees twenty minutes, so every sign holds exactly nine padas — never a round number of nakshatras. Pisces holds 3 nakshatras in whole or in part: Purva Bhadrapada (pada 4), Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati.

PadaSidereal longitudeNakshatraLordNavamsa
1330°00′333°20′Purva Bhadrapada pada 4JupiterCancer
2333°20′336°40′Uttara Bhadrapada pada 1SaturnLeo
3336°40′340°00′Uttara Bhadrapada pada 2SaturnVirgo
4340°00′343°20′Uttara Bhadrapada pada 3SaturnLibra
5343°20′346°40′Uttara Bhadrapada pada 4SaturnScorpio
6346°40′350°00′Revati pada 1MercurySagittarius
7350°00′353°20′Revati pada 2MercuryCapricorn
8353°20′356°40′Revati pada 3MercuryAquarius
9356°40′360°00′Revati pada 4MercuryPisces

Jupiter rules Punarvasu, Vishakha, Purva Bhadrapada, and one of them falls inside Pisces: Purva Bhadrapada (pada 4). Those degrees are the part of Pisces where Jupiter is on its own ground regardless of what the sign lord thinks of it — a nakshatra lordship is a second, finer layer of dignity, and it does not have to agree with the first.

When Jupiter Is Actually in Pisces

Here is the honest answer, and it is a computed one: Jupiter does not enter Pisces at any point in 2026 or 2027. The DE421 ephemeris this site computes from covers those two years, and across the whole of it Jupiter never crosses into this rashi.

The negative is worth turning into a measurement, because it is one. On 1 January 2026, the first day the tables cover, Jupiter stands in Gemini; by 1 January 2028 it has reached Virgothree signs further on. From Virgo, Pisces is a further six signs ahead — that is how much of the zodiac still separates Jupiter from this rashi when the tables run out.

That is a property of orbital period rather than an accident. Jupiter takes about twelve years to travel the zodiac, so it spends roughly a year in each sign and a two-year window can only ever reach a few of them. This page is therefore about the placement as a natal condition — what it means in a chart born with it — and not about a transit you can wait for.

Where Jupiter does go in this window is worth knowing, and it is on the Jupiter page; the monthly readings under our rashifal archive date every ingress it does make.

Jupiter also combusts: within 11° of the Sun. A combust Jupiter in Pisces is read as weakened whatever the dignity above says, which is the standard case where the textbook verdict and the actual sky disagree.

Reading Jupiter in Pisces

Jupiter signifies children, teachers and gurus, higher learning, dharma, wealth, and the husband in a woman's chart. In Pisces those significations are filtered through a dvisvabhava water sign ruled by Jupiter, and the dignity above says how much support they get in the process. In its own sign the graha needs no permission from anyone; it delivers its significations directly.

This is not a prediction, and it cannot be one: the house Pisces occupies from the ascendant, which of the nine padas above holds the graha, and the running dasha all change the answer. Jupiter is reckoned benefic, and it gains in the 1st, 5th, 9th, 2nd and 11th while it struggles in the 6th, 8th and 12th — so Jupiter in Pisces is a different placement in each of them. Under Kaal Purush Pisces is the 12th bhava, so Jupiter in the 12th house is the same pairing read from the bhava side, with the Pisces transit dated for each of the twelve ascendants.

For what Jupiter does when strong and when afflicted, its 16-year mahadasha, and the full remedy set, see the Jupiter (Guru) page. The short form: Jupiter’s day is Thursday, its gemstone is Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj), its mantra is Om Guruve Namah, and its deities are Brihaspati, Dakshinamurthy, and Vishnu.
