Graha Drishti: Which Planet Aspects Which House
Published 2026-10-26 | Live Pandit Ji
What Graha Drishti Means (ग्रह दृष्टि)
Drishti is the Sanskrit for sight or glance, and graha drishti is the name Jyotish gives to a planet’s aspect: the houses, besides its own, that a graha is counted as reaching in a chart. The texts describe it in the language of looking, and the word carries that image; on this page it is a counting rule and nothing more.
The count is by whole signs. The sign a graha occupies is the 1st, the next sign is the 2nd, and so on round the zodiac, so “the 7th from Saturn” is simply the sign opposite Saturn’s. This site counts signs, not degrees, everywhere it states an aspect. Other methods weigh an aspect by the distance in degrees between two bodies; the site’s tables contain no such scheme, so none is given here. For what each of the twelve houses stands for, see the guide to the 12 houses or the houses section.
The Graha Drishti Chart for All Nine Grahas
The middle column is the wording of the site’s planet table. Every one of the seven grahas from the Sun to Saturn reaches the 7th. Mars, Jupiter and Saturn add what the tradition calls special aspects, two each, so they cover four signs counting their own, against two for the Sun, the Moon, Mercury and Venus. The rows for Rahu and Ketu are printed as the table words them, because the table records a disagreement rather than a set of houses.
| Graha | Houses aspected (planet table) | Beyond the 7th | Signs covered, own included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sun (सूर्य) | The 7th house only | None | 2 |
| Moon (चन्द्र) | The 7th house only | None | 2 |
| Mars (मंगल) | The 4th, 7th and 8th houses | 4th and 8th | 4 |
| Mercury (बुध) | The 7th house only | None | 2 |
| Jupiter (गुरु) | The 5th, 7th and 9th houses | 5th and 9th | 4 |
| Venus (शुक्र) | The 7th house only | None | 2 |
| Saturn (शनि) | The 3rd, 7th and 10th houses | 3rd and 10th | 4 |
| Rahu (राहु) | Traditions differ — many follow Jupiter's 5th, 7th and 9th; classical texts give Rahu no aspect at all | Disputed | Disputed |
| Ketu (केतु) | Traditions differ; classical texts give Ketu no aspect of its own | Disputed | Disputed |
Which Planet Aspects Which House: Counting Back
The table answers the question from the graha’s side. Asked from the house’s side, the count runs the other way: a sign that is d-th from a graha has that graha in the (14−d)-th from it, reduced past twelve. So a sign receives the 7th of any graha that sits 7th from it, Mars’s aspect when Mars is 10th, 7th or 6th from it, Jupiter’s when Jupiter is 9th, 7th or 5th, and Saturn’s when Saturn is 11th, 7th or 4th.
One small regularity falls out of that. Jupiter’s set is the only one that reads the same counted back: 5th and 9th swap places and the 7th stays put. Saturn’s 3rd becomes an 11th and its 10th a 4th; Mars’s 4th becomes a 10th and its 8th a 6th. That asymmetry is what the next section turns on.
The 7th Is Always Mutual; Special Aspects Rarely Are
Two grahas in opposite signs are each 7th from the other, and all seven classical grahas aspect the 7th, so opposition always runs both ways. That two-way case has its own name and its own dated page, samsaptak yoga, and is not re-measured here. A special aspect is different. For it to be returned, the graha on the receiving end needs an aspect on the counted-back distance, and the table below checks each of the six against every other graha.
| Aspect | The aspecting graha, counted from the other | Other grahas aspecting that house | Can be returned? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Any graha’s 7th | 7th | All six others | Always |
| Mars’s 4th | 10th | Saturn | Yes, by Saturn |
| Mars’s 8th | 6th | None | No |
| Jupiter’s 5th | 9th | None | No |
| Jupiter’s 9th | 5th | None | No |
| Saturn’s 3rd | 11th | None | No |
| Saturn’s 10th | 4th | Mars | Yes, by Mars |
Only one pairing survives: Mars’s 4th and Saturn’s 10th are the same relation seen from opposite ends, so when Saturn is 4th from Mars, Mars is 10th from Saturn and each aspects the other. Counted back, Jupiter’s 5th and 9th land on its own 9th and 5th, but there is only one Jupiter in a chart, so no other graha can return them. Mars’s 8th and Saturn’s 3rd go unanswered by anything. The samsaptak page reaches the same Mars-Saturn result in one line; here is what it looks like across the coming months.
| Dates | Mars / Saturn | Saturn from Mars | Mars from Saturn | Aspect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Until 12 November 2026 | Cancer / Pisces | 9th | 5th | Neither |
| 12 November 2026 to 10 March 2027 | Leo / Pisces | 8th | 6th | Mars’s 8th only |
| 10 March 2027 to 26 April 2027 | Cancer / Pisces | 9th | 5th | Neither |
| 26 April 2027 to 3 June 2027 | Leo / Pisces | 8th | 6th | Mars’s 8th only |
| 3 June 2027 to 5 July 2027 | Leo / Aries | 9th | 5th | Neither |
| 5 July 2027 to 24 August 2027 | Virgo / Aries | 8th | 6th | Mars’s 8th only |
| 24 August 2027 to 8 October 2027 | Libra / Aries | 7th | 7th | Both ways |
| 8 October 2027 to 20 October 2027 | Scorpio / Aries | 6th | 8th | Neither |
| 20 October 2027 to 18 November 2027 | Scorpio / Pisces | 5th | 9th | Neither |
| 18 November 2027 to 27 December 2027 | Sagittarius / Pisces | 4th | 10th | Both ways |
| From 27 December 2027 into 2028 | Capricorn / Pisces | 3rd | 11th | Neither |
Of the 11 rows, three are one-way, and in every one of them it is Mars’s 8th that falls on Saturn’s sign while Saturn’s aspects land elsewhere. Six rows have no aspect in either direction. The two-way rows are the opposition and, from 18 November 2027 to 27 December 2027, the 4th-and-10th pairing, with Mars in Sagittarius and Saturn back in Pisces.
Surya, Budh, Shukra and Chandra ki Drishti
For the four grahas whose only aspect is the 7th, the whole question is which sign sits opposite them. The tables give that from 26 October 2026 to the end of 2027, in days.
Surya ki drishti
The Sun keeps the steadiest pace of the three: each full stay in the table lasts between 29 and 32 days, so its 7th moves on one sign a month and never steps back. The window opens with the Sun in Libra, the planet table’s debilitation sign for it, so the Sun’s 7th falls on Aries, its exaltation sign. That is not peculiar to the Sun: for all seven grahas from the Sun to Saturn, the table’s debilitation sign is the 7th from its exaltation sign.
| Dates | Sun in | Its 7th falls on |
|---|---|---|
| Until 16 November 2026 | Libra | Aries |
| 16 November 2026 to 16 December 2026 | Scorpio | Taurus |
| 16 December 2026 to 14 January 2027 | Sagittarius | Gemini |
| 14 January 2027 to 13 February 2027 | Capricorn | Cancer |
| 13 February 2027 to 15 March 2027 | Aquarius | Leo |
| 15 March 2027 to 14 April 2027 | Pisces | Virgo |
| 14 April 2027 to 15 May 2027 | Aries | Libra |
| 15 May 2027 to 15 June 2027 | Taurus | Scorpio |
| 15 June 2027 to 17 July 2027 | Gemini | Sagittarius |
| 17 July 2027 to 17 August 2027 | Cancer | Capricorn |
| 17 August 2027 to 17 September 2027 | Leo | Aquarius |

Budh ki drishti
Mercury’s list is longer and less tidy, 19 rows against the Sun’s 15, because Mercury moves back a sign twice in the window, into Capricorn on 24 February 2027 and into Virgo on 21 October 2027, and each time its 7th moves back with it. Its longest stay in the window is Gemini, 68 days from 23 May 2027, putting its 7th on Sagittarius for that whole run. Throughout the window Mercury is never more than one sign from the Sun, so Mercury’s 7th is always the Sun’s 7th or a neighbour of it. Its two own signs, Gemini and Virgo, are 4th and 10th from each other, not opposite, so its 7th never falls from one onto the other.
| Dates | Mercury in | Its 7th falls on |
|---|---|---|
| Until 2 December 2026 | Libra | Aries |
| 2 December 2026 to 22 December 2026 | Scorpio | Taurus |
| 22 December 2026 to 10 January 2027 | Sagittarius | Gemini |
| 10 January 2027 to 28 January 2027 | Capricorn | Cancer |

| From 15 December 2027 into 2028 | Sagittarius | Gemini |
Shukra ki drishti
Venus ranges further from the Sun, up to two signs either side in this window, so its 7th can sit as far as two signs from the Sun’s. The window opens with Venus in Libra, moving back into Virgo on 6 November 2026; it then returns to Libra for its longest stay in the window, 40 days to 1 January 2027, with its 7th on Aries throughout. From the end of January 2027 the rows settle into stays of about three and a half weeks each, a quicker step than the Sun’s.
| Dates | Venus in | Its 7th falls on |
|---|---|---|
| Until 6 November 2026 | Libra | Aries |
| 6 November 2026 to 22 November 2026 | Virgo | Pisces |

| 24 February 2027 to 21 March 2027 | Capricorn | Cancer |

Chandra ki drishti
A table for the Moon would run to hundreds of rows. The ingress table logs 160 Moon sign changes in 2027, between 12 and 14 in each month, with February the only month at 12. Across 2026 and 2027 a complete stay in one sign averages 2.28 days and ranges from about 2.0 to 2.5 days. So the Moon’s 7th crosses every sign of the zodiac about once a month, and in a birth chart it depends on the Moon sign, which the free kundli tool gives from a birth date, time and place.
The Three Special Aspects and the Nodes, Page by Page
- Shani drishti: Saturn’s 10th from Pisces falls on Sagittarius and its 3rd on Taurus until 3 June 2027.
- Guru drishti: from 31 October 2026 to 25 January 2027 Jupiter is in Leo, so its 5th, 7th and 9th fall on Sagittarius, Aquarius and Aries.
- Mangal drishti: in Leo from 12 November 2026 to 10 March 2027, Mars’s 8th falls on Pisces, Saturn’s sign over those weeks.
- Rahu and Ketu drishti: what the table’s two disputed lines allow, and where Rahu’s 5th, 7th and 9th would fall under the variant many follow.
Aspects are one of several sign relations the site counts; how often the named kundli yogas built on them occur is set out in the list of kundli yogas and how common they are. None of the counts on this page says what an aspect does in a chart, and the page makes no such claim. In Hindi: ग्रह दृष्टि: किस ग्रह की दृष्टि किस भाव पर पड़ती है.
