Kshema Tara (4) in Guna Milan

Tara counts the nakshatras from one birth star to the other, inclusively, and reduces the count to one of nine; Kshema is the 4th, so a star 4th, 13th or 22nd from another sits at Kshema from it. The koota counts both ways, bride to groom and groom to bride, and the two counts are not independent: when the groom’s star is at Kshema from the bride’s, the bride’s is always at Vadha (7) from the groom’s, because both counts are the same distance read from opposite ends.

Kshema is not one of the three inauspicious counts, the 3rd, 5th and 7th, and Vadha, its reverse, is one, so every pairing with Kshema counted from the bride scores exactly 1.5 of the Tara koota’s 3 — all 1,296 of them. One inauspicious count is the most a Kshema pairing carries, since its partner count is Vadha, and because no two inauspicious counts ever pair, Tara never scores nothing.

Whether the groom's star sits at Kshema from the bride's is fixed by the two birth stars; the full match needs both Moon positions. The Free Kundli Matching tool gives the eight koota scores and the total, which is the headline answer; the Kundali Milan detailed report works the same arithmetic further from your own birth details, and its page lists what it contains.

The other taras: Janma, Sampat, Vipat, Pratyari, Sadhaka, Vadha, Mitra and Ati-Mitra. Kshema in the context of the whole koota is on the Tara page; the method in the 36 gunas explained. In Hindi: क्षेम तारा.
