Sampat Tara (2) in Guna Milan

Tara counts the nakshatras from one birth star to the other, inclusively, and reduces the count to one of nine; Sampat is the 2nd, so a star 2nd, 11th or 20th from another sits at Sampat from it. The koota counts both ways, bride to groom and groom to bride, and the two counts are not independent: when the groom’s star is at Sampat from the bride’s, the bride’s is always at Ati-Mitra (9) from the groom’s, because both counts are the same distance read from opposite ends.

Sampat is not one of the three inauspicious counts, the 3rd, 5th and 7th, and Ati-Mitra, its reverse, is not, so every pairing with Sampat counted from the bride scores exactly 3 of the Tara koota’s 3 — all 1,296 of them. A Sampat pairing carries no inauspicious count in either direction, and because no two inauspicious counts ever pair, Tara never scores nothing.

Whether the groom's star sits at Sampat from the bride's is fixed by the two birth stars; the full match needs both Moon positions. The Free Kundli Matching tool gives the eight koota scores and the total, which is the headline answer; the Kundali Milan detailed report works the same arithmetic further from your own birth details, and its page lists what it contains.

The other taras: Janma, Vipat, Kshema, Pratyari, Sadhaka, Vadha, Mitra and Ati-Mitra. Sampat in the context of the whole koota is on the Tara page; the method in the 36 gunas explained. In Hindi: सम्पत् तारा.
