Capricorn Horoscope 2026: Yearly Predictions for Makara Rashi
Published 2026-07-10 | Updated 2026-09-01 | Live Pandit Ji
Four grahas move slowly enough to shape a year for Capricorn (Makara Rashi), and in 2026 three of the four change rashi while one does not. Saturn — the lord of this rashi — holds Pisces, the 3rd house counted from Makara, for all twelve months, turning retrograde there on 27 July and direct again on 11 December. Jupiter passes through three rashis: Gemini and your 6th house until 2 June, then Cancer and your 7th, where Jupiter is exalted, until 31 October, then Leo and your 8th for the rest of the year. Rahu holds Aquarius, your 2nd house, until 5 December, and then enters Capricorn itself — your 1st house, your own janma rashi; Ketu moves from Leo, your 8th, into Cancer, your 7th, on the same day. Everything below follows from those four rows, and nothing below is a forecast about a person.
Where the four slow grahas actually are in 2026, counted from Makara Rashi
Every house number below is counted from Capricorn at build time, and every rashi and date comes from the DE421 ephemeris table in this repository — not typed into this page. The Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars are left out on purpose: each of them crosses all twelve rashis inside a year, so on a yearly scale none of them is “in” a house at all.
| Graha | Rashi | Dates | House from Makara | What that bhava is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jupiter गुरु | Gemini (Mithuna) | 1 January to 2 June | 6th शत्रु भाव | Health and diseases, Debts and loans, Service and routine |
| Cancer (Karka) | 2 June to 31 October | 7th कलत्र भाव | Spouse / partner, Marriage, Business partnerships | |
| Leo (Simha) | 31 October to 31 December | 8th आयु भाव | Longevity, Sudden change, Occult and research | |
| Saturn शनि | Pisces (Meena) | all of 2026 | 3rd सहज भाव | Younger siblings, Courage and effort, Communication style |
| Rahu राहु | Aquarius (Kumbha) | 1 January to 5 December | 2nd धन भाव | Savings and wealth, Family of origin, Speech and voice |
| Capricorn (Makara) | 5 December to 31 December | 1st तनु भाव | Personal identity, Physical appearance, Vitality and health | |
| Ketu केतु | Leo (Simha) | 1 January to 5 December | 8th आयु भाव | Longevity, Sudden change, Occult and research |
| Cancer (Karka) | 5 December to 31 December | 7th कलत्र भाव | Spouse / partner, Marriage, Business partnerships |
3 of the four change rashi inside 2026, and Saturn holds one the whole year. That is the whole reason a yearly reading is a different reading rather than a longer monthly one, and it is also the limit of what any yearly reading can say: nothing in this table has a birth time attached to it, so none of it locates an event in one person's life. Rahu and Ketu are the mean node — an analytic formula rather than a measured body — which is why their dates are given as days and never as clock times. Capricorn yearly reading works the same four grahas through the twelve bhavas, and the yearly hub has the arithmetic behind the table.
Saturn in the 3rd: your own lord, and the year's one stationary fact
Your Sade Sati is over. It ran from January 2020, when Saturn entered Capricorn itself, through to 29 March 2025, when Saturn left Aquarius — the 2nd house from your rashi and the last leg of the cycle. Sade Sati is defined as Saturn transiting the 12th, 1st and 2nd houses from the janma rashi, and in 2026 Saturn is in the 3rd. It does not change rashi again all year, and it does not enter Aries until 3 June 2027, a date ingresses.js has to the day; this page no longer says “around mid-2027”.
The 3rd house is the sahaja bhava, and its significations are courage, initiative and self-effort, younger siblings, neighbours, communication style and short journeys. Its classification is worth stating in full rather than in the favourable half only: houses.js records the 3rd as an upachaya house — one of four, with the 6th, 10th and 11th, in which classical texts hold that a malefic gains rather than obstructs — and also as apoklima, and as a dusthana in some traditions. So the standard reading is that a slow, difficult graha in the 3rd converts persistence into visible progress inside the same year rather than years later; the qualification is that not every school agrees the house is auspicious to begin with. Saturn also happens to be your ruling graha, which the tradition reads as making a well-placed Shani transit work more directly in your favour than it would for another rashi.
Saturn's aspects are checkable and they are where most yearly pages for Makara go wrong. Shani casts its special third and tenth aspects as well as the universal seventh, and from Pisces those three fall on Taurus, Virgo and Sagittarius. Counted from Makara, that is your 5th house of children, creativity and romance, your 9th house of fortune and the father, and your 12th house of expenditure and loss. Three drishtis, each with a rashi attached, each verifiable by counting on your fingers from the table above. The 12th-house aspect is the one with practical consequences for money, and it holds for all twelve months rather than for a quarter.
The retrograde stretch from 27 July to 11 December is the pair of dates the earlier version of this page omitted, and it is worth one clarification. A retrograde Saturn covers the same arc of Pisces a second time. The tradition reads that as the same material being gone over again rather than as a reversal, and Saturn remains in the 3rd house throughout — retrogression changes nothing about which bhava is involved. For the wider reading of the transit, see our Shani remedies guide.
The nodes: Rahu in the 2nd, and then in Makara itself
This is the half of the year's sky the earlier version of this page left out entirely, and for Capricorn it contains the year's single largest dated change. Rahu holds Aquarius from 1 January to 5 December 2026, and Aquarius is the 2nd house counted from Makara — the dhana bhava of accumulated wealth, the family of origin, speech and values. Ketu sits opposite in Leo, your 8th house of longevity, sudden change, inheritance and research, for the same eleven months. Then on 5 December the axis moves one rashi back, and Rahu enters Capricorn: your 1st house, your lagna in the Kaal Purush sense and your janma rashi in the sense this page uses. Ketu enters Cancer, your 7th, on the same day. Rahu holds Makara from that day until 24 June 2028, which is why the Capricorn horoscope for 2027 has a node on your janma rashi for twelve unbroken months.
The tradition reads the two nodes as opposite faces of one appetite. Rahu in a bhava is read as amplification without measure — hunger for what the house signifies, pursued past the point of satisfaction. Ketu in a bhava is read as its inverse: detachment, aptitude without appetite, a sense that what the house offers is not the thing wanted. Rahu in the 2nd for eleven months is therefore the classical picture of an unmeasured appetite around what is held and around what is said, and Rahu arriving in the janma rashi on 5 December is the classical picture of the same appetite turned on the self — the tradition's reading of a node in the 1st house is an unusual or magnetic presence alongside a persistent uncertainty about who one is. Our Rahu in the 1st house guide sets out that placement in detail, and the Rahu-Ketu 2026 transit guide works the axis through all twelve rashis.
Two limits on that reading matter more than the reading itself. Rahu and Ketu are the mean node — an analytic formula rather than a body anyone measures — which is why the ingress is given here as a day, 5 December 2026, and never as a clock time. And a sun-sign or moon-sign page has no birth time, so it has no idea which bhava the nodes occupy in your own chart. What is honest is what the tradition reads a node in a house as. What is not honest is a month in which something is expected to happen to you.
Career: the 3rd house, and what a 10th-house reading actually rests on
Career sits in the 10th house, and the 10th from Makara is Libra. No slow graha enters Libra at any point in 2026. That is the first thing an honest career section for this rashi has to say, and it is why the page no longer offers a window in which openings arrive: there is no occupancy in the karma bhava to read. What there is instead is the 3rd house, and the 3rd is the house of self-effort — which is the classical reason a Shani transit there is read as career progress arriving through initiative rather than through opportunity.
The reading that follows is steadiness rather than spectacle, and it holds across the year because the graha behind it does not move. Saturn in an upachaya house is read as rewarding sustained effort, completed backlogs and a reputation for reliability — which is what Makara natives are traditionally said to be built for anyway. Work in banking, finance, accounting, administration or resource management sits closest to those significations. Something shelved during the five Sade Sati years is what the tradition would point at as the thing this transit is for, and the obstacle it names is not the sky but the habit of caution those five years installed.
The 3rd house also governs communication style, and here the placement carries its own cost rather than its own reward. Saturn in the sahaja bhava is read as sharpening speech and shortening patience at the same time: more to say and less tolerance in saying it. What a Makara native experiences as directness is what a colleague may receive as harshness, and the tradition treats that as the standing risk of the transit rather than as an event in a particular month. Rahu in the 2nd house — which governs speech as well as wealth — is read as pushing in the same direction until 5 December.
Jupiter's row does not touch the career house in 2026 and this page will not pretend otherwise. Jupiter is in the 6th house until 2 June — retrograde in Gemini for the opening weeks of the year and direct from 11 March — which classical texts read as a benefic wearing down competition, litigation and debt rather than amplifying them; in the 7th from 2 June to 31 October, which is partnership and public dealing; and in the 8th from 31 October, where it turns retrograde on 13 December. Two conjunctions fall inside that last stretch and therefore in your 8th house: Jupiter meets Ketu in Leo on 12 November, and Mars joins Jupiter in the same rashi on 16 November. For business owners the 6th-house and 7th-house stretches are the ones that bear on contracts and counterparties, and the dates are the dates. Our Jupiter transit 2026 guide works the same two ingresses through all twelve rashis.
Love, marriage and the 7th house: three states and two dates
The 7th house from Makara is Cancer, and in 2026 it has the most eventful shape of any of your twelve bhavas. From 1 January to 2 June it holds no slow graha. On 2 June, Jupiter enters Cancer — and Cancer is Jupiter's sign of exaltation, so the greatest benefic arrives in the kalatra bhava at maximum dignity, and stays until 31 October. From 31 October to 5 December the 7th house is empty again. From 5 December, Ketu occupies it. Three states, two dates, and every one of them checkable against the table above.
Inside the middle stretch falls the one conjunction of 2026 that is worth naming on a Capricorn page, and the earlier version of this post did not have it. Venus meets Jupiter on 10 June 2026, in Cancer, eight days after the ingress — and it is the only Venus-Jupiter conjunction of the entire year. houses.js records Venus as the karaka of the spouse for the 7th house, so this is the significator of the partner meeting an exalted Guru in the house of partnership. Two further conjunctions fall in the same rashi and therefore the same house: the Sun meets Jupiter on 29 July and Mercury meets Jupiter on 15 August. What a conjunction is, in the tradition, is two significations read together. What it is not is an event scheduled for a date, and this page is not going to convert the strongest 7th-house configuration of the year into a wedding window — that conversion is exactly the step that has no justification behind it.
Ketu arriving in the 7th house on 5 December is the other half of the picture and it points the other way. A node in the kalatra bhava is read by the tradition as detachment in the significations of partnership rather than as appetite for them, which is why the same year can hold the best and the least comfortable 7th-house occupancies eleven months apart. Neither is a prediction. Both are what the tradition reads a placement as, and the dates between them are the only thing on this page that is a fact.
On marriage timing specifically, what can honestly be said at this level is short. A muhurat is derived from the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana in effect at a given place and time, and for a wedding it is checked against two birth charts. A rashi cannot produce one. Beyond that, the readings that follow from the table are these: Saturn in the 3rd house of communication is read as making it easier to say the thing that needed saying and harder to say it gently, and Saturn's third aspect on Taurus — your 5th house of romance — is a drishti on the house of romance rather than an occupation of it, which is a weaker statement and is stated as one. For those already married, the 3rd-house reading applies to the household as much as to the workplace: tone is where the placement bites.
Finance: the 12th-house aspect, and the 2nd house in December
The financial shape of the year follows the four rows and no others. Saturn's transit through Aquarius, your 2nd house of accumulated wealth — the leg of Sade Sati that made every rupee feel heavier than it was — ended on 29 March 2025. From Pisces, Saturn's tenth aspect now falls on Sagittarius, your 12th house of expenditure and loss, and it does so for all twelve months of 2026. The 3rd house is the house of self-effort. Put the two together and the tradition's reading is that income responds to initiative while outgoings stay under a Shani drishti: a year to earn more rather than to economise your way forward, and not a year in which expenses look after themselves.
The 2nd house itself has one dated change and it is a node rather than a graha. Rahu holds Aquarius, your 2nd, until 5 December, and the tradition reads a node in the dhana bhava as amplifying appetite around what is held rather than as adding to it or subtracting from it. When Rahu leaves the 2nd for Makara itself on 5 December, that reading transfers from what you hold to how you present yourself. Ketu holds your 8th house — inheritance, joint assets, succession — until the same date, and a node there is read as detachment from what is shared rather than as a claim on it. Those are significations of the houses, stated as significations.
Jupiter in the 6th house until 2 June is the row that bears most directly on debt, because debt is the 6th house's own signification alongside competition and litigation. A benefic transiting a house of adversaries is read classically as consuming that house's significations rather than amplifying them, which is why the tradition associates the placement with borrowings actually reducing rather than merely being serviced. That is the reading. The date on which it ends is 2 June, and there is no month inside it that is better than another.
This page names no instrument and no month for buying anything, and the omission is the point rather than an oversight. An ephemeris contains rashis, degrees and dates, and it does not contain asset classes. No graha distinguishes a deposit from a share, so no transit can recommend one over the other, and a page that tells you which to hold has stopped reporting a tradition and started giving financial advice. An earlier version of this post named four asset classes, prohibited three activities including lending to family, and asserted that money lent under a 12th-house Saturn aspect has a poor record of coming back. That last claim was the worst of them, because nobody has collected any such record — it was a statistic with no study behind it. All of it is gone. The 2nd house is the house of accumulated wealth and the 12th is the house of expenditure; saying so describes, and that is as far as a description goes.
One habit is worth naming because it is a habit rather than a forecast: setting aside a portion of income before spending anything is the response the tradition itself prescribes for a 12th-house drishti, and it is available on any day of any year. The 3rd-house transit runs until 3 June 2027, so 2026 and the first five months of 2027 form one continuous span rather than two, which is a more useful thing to know than which quarter is favourable.
Health: what these transits actually point at
The Kaal Purush limb assigned to the 2nd house is the face, mouth, teeth, tongue, throat and the right eye, and the 2nd house from Makara is where Rahu sits until 5 December. That is the region the tradition points at, and pointing at a region is the whole of what it does. This page does not set a month for a dental appointment, an eye test or anything else of the kind: a transit has no information about anybody's teeth, and the time to have something looked at is when you notice it rather than when a chart comes round.
The throat and the voice belong to the same 2nd house, so they sit in the same theme, and the 2nd house governs speech in the non-bodily sense too — which is why the tradition treats the region and the faculty as one signification. No month named anywhere on this page is a month to be tested for anything, and a named condition of the throat or of the thyroid is not something a transit can indicate, bring on, or schedule a test for. Warm salt-water gargling is an ordinary household habit and is mentioned as no more than that.
Saturn's own house carries a second region. The Kaal Purush limb of the 3rd house is the arms, shoulders, hands, collarbone, right ear and the upper respiratory tract, and Saturn's signature complaints, wherever it transits, are the ones the tradition attaches to the graha itself: stiffness, the joints, the bones and the teeth. Long hours at a desk are the ordinary cost of a year whose reading is sustained effort, and that cost is real whether or not any graha is involved. An earlier version of this page ranked a month as the best one for health treatments. No transit ranks a month for a treatment, that sentence has been deleted, and nothing on this page replaces it.
What can be said honestly about the mind is that five years of Sade Sati leave a residue, and that the residue is not a transit. The tradition reads the end of the cycle as relief that arrives gradually rather than at a stroke. Physical movement, regular meals and sleep kept at fixed hours are the ordinary responses, and none of them needs a date; Ayurvedic practice would add eating according to constitution and season, which is a tradition of its own and is named here as that. A practice may be timed — a mantra on a Saturday is a practice — but a treatment, a procedure or a bodily event may not, and this page sets no window for any of the three.
Remedies traditionally prescribed for Makara Rashi
These are the prescriptions the tradition attaches to Saturn, the lord of Makara, and to Saturn in a 3rd-house transit. They are given as what the tradition recommends, which is the only status this page claims for them.
- The Shani Beej Mantra — Om Praam Preem Praum Sah Shanaischaraya Namaha — recited 108 times on Saturdays, the vara assigned to Shani and the lord of this rashi
- Donation of black urad dal, mustard oil and iron on a Saturday evening — Shani rules this rashi, which the tradition holds makes propitiation appropriate even in a favourable transit
- Cooked rice with black sesame offered to crows on a Saturday morning
- The Shani Stotra or the Dasharatha Shani Stotra recited on Saturdays
- Truthful and unharsh speech — Saturn transits your 3rd house of speech all year and Rahu your 2nd until 5 December, and both houses carry the same signification
- A portion of income set aside before anything is spent, which the tradition names as the response to a drishti on the 12th house of expenditure and which needs no muhurat
- Service to the elderly, and to the father or paternal figures in particular
- A blue sapphire, and only after a chart has been read by someone who can see your birth time — a stone is prescribed against a placement, not against a sign, and this one is the most consequential in the list to get wrong
What this page does not give you, and why
There are no fortunate months here and no difficult ones, and the twelve-row calendar that used to close this page has been deleted rather than corrected. Over a year the only grahas that go anywhere slowly enough to matter are the four in the table above, and between them 2026 contains five dates: Jupiter into Cancer on 2 June, Saturn retrograde on 27 July, Jupiter into Leo on 31 October, the nodes changing rashi on 5 December and Saturn direct on 11 December. Twelve graded verdicts do not follow from five dates, or from anything else. They are produced by picking, and picking is not reading. The yearly horoscope hub sets out the arithmetic — how far each graha travels in 365 days — that makes this the case, and it is also why the table above has four rows rather than eight: the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars each cross all twelve rashis inside a year, so on a yearly scale none of them is in a house at all.
There is no list of auspicious dates either, for a separate reason. A muhurat is derived from the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana in effect at a given place and time, and for any significant undertaking it is verified against the individual birth chart. A rashi on its own cannot yield one, and a yearly horoscope that publishes lucky days for a twelfth of the population has invented them — invented dates being worse than no dates at all. For anything that genuinely needs one — a property registration, a wedding, a new venture, a medical procedure — have the muhurat chosen against your own chart. Our daily panchang tool gives the tithi, nakshatra and the day's auspicious and inauspicious windows, which an astrologer can then read against your horoscope.
The traditional attributions the tradition does assign to Makara Rashi are single values rather than lists, and this site keeps them in one place so that no page can quietly grow them: the vara is Saturday, the colour is Brown, the number is 8, and the direction assigned to the rashi is South. That is a convention recorded in classical and later texts, not a measurement, and it does not subdivide — there is no separate direction for career and another for relationships, and no month is luckier than another because of it. For the same four grahas worked through all twelve bhavas, see the Capricorn yearly reading, and for the sign itself the Makara Rashi traits page.
A yearly page reads four grahas for a twelfth of everybody at once. It has no birth time, so it has no bhavas of yours and no dasha. If you want the same four transits read against your own chart, talk to one of our Vedic astrologers.
