Trigrahi Yog 2026-2028: Three or Four Grahas in a Sign

Published 2026-10-27 | Live Pandit Ji

A Count, Not a Combination (त्रिग्रही, चतुर्ग्रही, पंचग्रही योग)

The three names count grahas in one rashi: trigrahi is three, chaturgrahi four, panchgrahi five. Nothing else enters the definition. There is no condition on which grahas they are, on their dignity, or on the house the sign falls in, which is why the same word gets attached to very different gatherings in news headlines. A two-graha gathering has its own pages, one per pair, under planetary conjunctions.

The tables below count six bodies: Sun, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. Two kinds of body are kept out on purpose. The Moon spends a little over two days in each sign on average across the site’s table, so it turns any two grahas sharing a sign into a trigrahi gathering for a couple of days every month; counted in, it would bury the slower gatherings under monthly repeats. It comes back in the panchgrahi section, where it decides every case. Rahu and Ketu are left out because the table carries their sign changes as mean-node rows, which can be a day out, and this site does not print a conjunction date off such a row. Their current signs are on the Rahu-Ketu transit page.

From Now to the End of 2028

One gathering is running as this is published: Sun, Mercury and Venus in Libra, which began on 17 October 2026 and ends on 6 November 2026. After it, the table has 26 more stretches of three or more, 3 of them with four. A change of membership inside one gathering starts a new row, so a single crowded sign can take two or three consecutive lines. Rows with four grahas are shaded.

Leo, August 2027: Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus

The first chaturgrahi ahead runs from 17 August 2027 to 31 August 2027. It is the middle of a longer Leo run. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus are together in Leo from 16 August 2027; the Sun joins them on 17 August 2027; Mercury leaves on 31 August 2027; and the remaining three stay together until 9 September 2027. Leo is the Sun’s own sign in the planet table, and the only sign it rules, so the gathering has its sign lord among its members; as it happens, so do both of the 2028 gatherings below. Jupiter’s sign changes behind it are on the Jupiter transit 2027 page.

Aries and Taurus, April to June 2028

Two chaturgrahi stretches fall back to back in 2028. In Aries, the Sun, Mercury and Saturn are together from 13 April 2028, Mars joins on 20 April 2028, and the four stay together until 27 April 2028, when Mercury moves on. The Sun, Mars and Saturn then hold the sign together until 14 May 2028. The planet table makes this the most mixed of the gatherings by dignity: Aries is the Sun’s exaltation sign and Saturn’s debilitation sign, and it is one of the two signs Mars owns. Exalted and debilitated grahas in one sign is the arrangement the neecha bhanga rules look at.

The Sun enters Taurus on 14 May 2028 with Mercury and Venus already there, Mars arrives on 31 May 2028, and the four share the sign until 15 June 2028. Taurus is one of Venus’s own signs. Mars, Mercury and Venus are still together there until 5 July 2028, which makes the Taurus run, at about seven weeks of three or more, the longest single crowded sign in the table.

Why Mercury Is in Almost Every Row

Of the 43 stretches of three or more in the table, Mercury is in 36 and the Sun in 33. Saturn is in 9 and Jupiter in 8. The imbalance follows from how the grahas move. Mercury and Venus are never far from the Sun, so the three of them keep arriving in the same or neighbouring signs, and two of them together need only one more graha to make a trigrahi. Jupiter and Saturn each stay about a year or more in a sign (the spans are on the how long a planet stays in a sign page), so they enter the list only when the fast group passes through the sign they happen to occupy. That is why a gathering with Jupiter or Saturn in it is the rarer kind.

Panchgrahi: Only With the Moon

Five of the six never share a sign anywhere in the 2026-2028 table. Counting the Moon as a seventh body, five-graha gatherings appear three times, and each is a chaturgrahi stretch that the Moon passes through:

  • Capricorn, 18 January 2026 to 21 January 2026: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury and Venus.
  • Leo, 31 August 2027: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus, for less than an hour, between the Moon’s arrival in Leo and Mercury’s departure from it.
  • Aries, 24 April 2028 to 26 April 2028: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury and Saturn.

All three hold the Sun and the Moon together. The table’s new moon falls inside the first and the third, and in the second it comes later the same day, in Leo, after Mercury has left. That is not a coincidence: the Moon reaches the Sun’s sign once a month, around Amavasya, so whenever the Sun’s sign is already crowded, the new moon adds one more body to the crowd. A panchgrahi gathering in this sense is a new moon that lands on, or just beside, a chaturgrahi.

Earlier in 2026

The first months of 2026 were crowded, with three or more grahas in Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces in turn, four at a time at some point in each of those signs, and a brief trigrahi in Aries in mid-May. From late May the gatherings moved to Gemini and then Cancer, three grahas at a time. These stretches are past; they are listed for anyone checking a date already heard about.

In a Birth Chart

Someone born during any of these stretches has the same gathering in their chart, placed in whichever house that sign falls in from their lagna. Readers of the tradition then look at the graha that owns the sign, at whether any of the gathered grahas is combust or at war with another, and at the dasha running at the time; the count of three or four does not settle anything by itself. Brihat Jataka builds its pravrajya combinations on four or more grahas in one sign, but the text asks for strength as well as number, and a crowded sky does not hand that condition to everyone born under it. The named yogas, with how often each forms, are compared in the kundli yoga list, and two grahas at fixed distances from each other rather than in one sign are on the Samsaptak yoga page. In Hindi: त्रिग्रही योग 2026-2028: एक राशि में तीन या चार ग्रह.

The Janam Kundli report places every graha by sign and house from your birth details and lists your dasha periods with dates, so a natal gathering of three or four is visible with its house. It does not rate a gathering or forecast from one. The free kundli tool draws the chart itself.
