Griha Pravesh Muhurat, 2026 & 2027

All 730 days of 2026 and 2027 run through the filters this rite asks for. 18 days pass all of them — 5 in 2026, 13 in 2027. 453 days never reached the test — Kharmas, Adhika maas, Chaturmas, Asta, Holashtak shut them first — and the remainder failed on a limb the month pages name one by one.

Why one year is wider than the other

2027 returns 13 qualifying days for a griha pravesh and 2026 returns 5. The filter is identical in both and so is the closure list, so the whole difference is in where the closures fall — an intercalary lunar month in 2026 and not in 2027, and combustions that cost 45 days in 2026 against 8 days in 2027 because a combustion inside Chaturmas takes days Chaturmas had already shut. Take those two out of both years and the gap in open days falls from 73 days to 6; the cluster page works that through for all 7 occasions.

For this rite the effect is uneven rather than a shift. March 0 then 3, January 0 then 2, February 1 then 2, June 1 then 2 — 7 months of the twelve return the same count in both years, and even those do not return the same dates. One calendar date qualifies in both years: 26 November.

“Open days in the calendar” counts the days no closure covers at all, before any limb is read, and is the same figure for every occasion. The two columns before it are this rite’s own.

Month by month, 2026 and 2027

12 months of the 24 offer at least one qualifying day. January 2026, March 2026, May 2026, July 2026, August 2026, September 2026, October 2026, May 2027, July 2027, August 2027, September 2027, October 2027 offer none — 7 of those because a closure covers the whole month. Each row links to the day-by-day working.

Every qualifying day, in full

The whole shortlist on one page — 18 days across 12 months of 2026 and 2027, with the tithi and nakshatra that carried each. Between them sits the longest empty stretch of the two years: 153 days from 26 June 2026 to 25 November 2026 with nothing available for this rite at all.

Each date links to its own panchang page for the end times of the tithi and nakshatra, and for Rahu Kaal and Abhijit inside the day. The window for the ceremony itself is elected inside one of these days against the charts of the people involved — that is a second pass no calendar can do.

The filter, in full

Nakshatra: 11 of the 27 — the four fixed (Dhruva) nakshatras, for a thing meant to last, with the soft and movable ones.

Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Mrigashira, Chitra, Anuradha, Swati, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Revati.

Tithi: Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, Trayodashi and Purnima, with Ashtami excluded as well.

Vara: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Yoga: the nine ashubha yogas excluded. Karana: Vishti excluded.

Closures: Kharmas, Adhika maas, Chaturmas, Asta, Holashtak. Stated for Apoorva Griha Pravesh, a first entry into a newly built house. Re-entry after repairs or a long absence is treated more leniently, and Chaturmas is often accepted for it.

Which of its own nakshatras did the work

A set of 11 nakshatras does not contribute evenly. Revati produced the most qualifying days for this rite across 2026 and 2027, 5 of the 18, and 8 of the 11 produced any at all. The other 3 produced none — each fell only on days that another rule had already spoiled: Anuradha, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha.

By weekday. Of the 4 weekdays this rite accepts, Thursday returned the most at 8 days — Thursday 8, Friday 4, Monday 3, Wednesday 3. The weekday is the one limb whose supply the calendar fixes rather than the sky: 2026 and 2027 together hold 418 days of an accepted weekday, 158 of them outside a closure, and 18 survive the rest of the filter.

What the closures cost this rite

5 of the 5 kinds of closed period apply here, removing 453 days across 2026 and 2027 before a limb is read. 35 of those days would have passed all five limbs — that is the real cost of the list, and it is why a calendar that skips the closures returns dates this one does not.

Questions

How many auspicious days for griha pravesh are there in 2026 and 2027?

18 days pass every filter this occasion asks for, out of 730 — 5 in 2026 and 13 in 2027. 453 days fall inside a closed period and were never examined; the rest failed on one or more of the five limbs. March 2027 is the widest month of the 24 at 3 days, and 12 months have none at all.

Are 2027's dates just 2026's moved by a few days?

No — the change is a redistribution, not a shift, and it is different for every rite. 2027 returns 13 qualifying days for a griha pravesh and 2026 returns 5, but the months move independently: March goes from 0 to 3, January goes from 0 to 2, February goes from 1 to 2, while 7 months of the twelve return the same count in both years. Only one calendar date qualifies in both years for this rite — 26 November. The reason is above — an intercalary month in one year and not the other, and combustions that fall inside Chaturmas in one year and in open season in the other.

Which months of 2026 and 2027 are closed for griha pravesh?

January 2026 (Shukra asta); August 2026 (Chaturmas); September 2026 (Chaturmas); October 2026 (Chaturmas); August 2027 (Shukra asta, Chaturmas); September 2027 (Chaturmas); October 2027 (Chaturmas). A month is listed here only when a closure covers every day of it — most closures cover part of a month and are shown on that month's page.

What rules out a day for griha pravesh?

Over 2026 and 2027 together, nakshatra did the most excluding: it ruled out 163 of the 277 days that were examined at all, the other 453 having been shut by a closure before a limb was read. The rule most worth relaxing is a different one: 23 days fail on nakshatra and nothing else, so setting that single rule aside and holding the other four would return 41 days instead of 18. The four fixed (Dhruva) nakshatras, for a thing meant to last, with the soft and movable ones. The full filter is set out above, and each month page names the failing limb for every single day.

Which nakshatra gives the most days for griha pravesh?

Revati, with 5 of the 18 across 2026 and 2027. Only 8 of this rite's 11 nakshatras produced a qualifying day at all — Anuradha, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha produced none, because every day they fell on had already failed the tithi, the weekday or a closure. By weekday, Thursday returned the most at 8 days.
