Where the 3rd Lordship Comes From

The Moon owns Cancer. Counting from Taurus as the first house, Cancer is the 3rd — which is the whole of it. One sign, one house, so there is nothing to weigh against it.

The 3rd is neither a trikona nor a dusthana, so the rule that decides most cases does not apply. Pearl is not contraindicated for Taurus and it is not indicated either — it becomes relevant only if the Moon is specifically afflicted in the chart, or if a dasha of the Moon is running.

Wearing It Alongside Diamond

Diamond is the Taurus primary stone, because Venus rules Taurus (Vrishabha) and owns the 1st and the 6th from it. So the pairing a Taurus native is most likely to consider is pearl with diamond, and whether that is allowed depends on how the Moon and Venus rate each other.

So there is a real disagreement for those births: the nakshatra lord is the Moon, which argues for pearl, while the 3rd from the ascendant argues against it. Neither route overrules the other on paper. In practice the ascendant's lordship is what a reading weighs first, and a birth under Rohini is the one circumstance in which a Taurus native might be pointed at pearl anyway.

What a Taurus Ascendant Should Wear Instead

A graha owning neither a trikona nor a dusthana from Taurus has no particular work to do for that ascendant, and the Moon is in exactly that position here. These stones do have work to do.

Taurus is the one ascendant for which blue sapphire is a first-class recommendation rather than a risk, because Saturn owns the 9th and 10th from here. Diamond with blue sapphire is the classic Taurus pairing, and both belong to friendly grahas.

If the appeal is pearl itself rather than the Moon, its upratna is moonstone — a substitute of the same graha with a far milder effect, which is the usual compromise where the primary stone is contraindicated.

The Ascendants Pearl Reads Differently For

The same stone is not the same advice from every ascendant, and pearl is a clear example. From Taurus it is neither indicated nor forbidden.
