Griha pravesh has no fixed tithi, which is exactly why it needs a calculated muhurta rather than a date from a list. A muhurta has to satisfy all five limbs of the panchang at once — tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga and karana — and for entering a house the nakshatra carries the most weight of the five.

Items Required (Samagri)
Kalash with mango leaves
A pot of water topped with mango leaves and a coconut, standing for the house as a container that is about to be filled. It is installed before anything is moved in and is the first object to cross the threshold.
Coconut
Broken at the door. It is the substitute offering that replaced older ones, and the three marks on its shell are read as the three eyes of Shiva.
Rice
The first food cooked in the new kitchen is traditionally rice boiled until it spills over — the overflow is the point, and it is read as the house being able to feed more than it holds.
Havan samagri
Griha shanti is done through fire because Agni is the witness that carries the offering. The havan is taken to every corner so that no part of the house is left outside the ritual.
Cow dung and Gangajal
Both are purificatory rather than symbolic in intent — the floor is washed with a dilute mix before the puja begins, which is the oldest surviving part of the rite and the reason it is done before the furniture arrives.
