Kaal Sarp Dosh forms when all seven planets in the birth chart are positioned between Rahu and Ketu. There are 12 types of Kaal Sarp Dosh, each with different effects based on which houses Rahu and Ketu occupy. This yoga can cause sudden setbacks, fears, and obstacles that seem to appear without reason.

All seven grahas from the Sun to Saturn must lie inside the arc running from Rahu to Ketu in the nodal direction. If even one planet falls outside that arc it is not Kaal Sarp, and because Rahu and Ketu are always exactly six signs apart the arc is always exactly half the zodiac.

The recommended gemstone is Gomed (Hessonite) for Rahu, Cat's Eye for Ketu. Always consult an experienced astrologer before wearing any gemstone: a gem strengthens its graha unconditionally, which is the wrong outcome if that graha is already strong or is a malefic lord in your chart.

The recommended mantra is: Om Namah Shivaya (for overall Kaal Sarp Dosh relief). It is chanted on Saturday or Tuesday, and during that graha's hora on any day.
