The Jupiter Mahadasha for Gemini Ascendant
16 years · Jupiter rules the 7th and 10th
The Parashari way to read a mahadasha for a given ascendant starts with the houses its lord holds. For Gemini ascendant Jupiter rules the 7th (Sagittarius) and the 10th (Pisces), so for Gemini the 16-year Jupiter mahadasha carries both a kendra house and a kendra and an upachaya house.
Counted from Gemini, Jupiter is exalted in the 2nd (Cancer) and debilitated in the 8th (Capricorn). Mercury, Gemini’s lagna lord, counts Jupiter neutral; Jupiter counts Mercury an enemy. Jupiter’s own nakshatras fall in Punarvasu (the 1st and 2nd), Vishakha (the 5th and 6th) and Purva Bhadrapada (the 9th and 10th) for Gemini ascendant, which is where a birth that opens in the Jupiter mahadasha has its Moon.

For Gemini ascendant, three of the Jupiter mahadasha’s sub-periods belong to lords of a dusthana (the 6th, 8th or 12th): Jupiter–Saturn, Jupiter–Venus and Jupiter–Mars, and two to lords of a trikona other than the 1st: Jupiter–Saturn and Jupiter–Venus. The sub-period of Mercury, Gemini’s lagna lord, is Jupiter–Mercury, the third of nine, 2 years 3 months 6 days long. Counted in time, sub-periods whose lords hold a dusthana for Gemini take 6 years 1 month 18 days (38%) of the Jupiter mahadasha’s 16 years, and those whose lords hold a trikona other than the 1st take 5 years 2 months 12 days (32%); a lord holding both is counted in both. In the Jupiter mahadasha for Gemini, the Rahu and Ketu sub-periods are read through their dispositors in the chart, since neither node rules a house.
For a Gemini-rising chart this is the frame of the Jupiter mahadasha, not a forecast: where Jupiter and each sub-period lord actually sit, and their dignity there, decide what it comes to, and this page cannot know either.
