Cancer Rashifal January 2027 (Kark Rashi): Jupiter Arrives Exalted on Your Sign
Published 2026-08-20 | Live Pandit Ji
Cancer is the sign in which Jupiter is exalted. That is not a general compliment paid to Kark Rashi; it is a specific statement about one planet in one sign, and it becomes a live fact about your chart at 2:15 am on Monday 25 January 2027, when Jupiter crosses from Leo back into Cancer. For the rest of the month and for four months after it, the most benevolent planet in the system is sitting on your rashi in the best condition it is capable of holding.
Two things stop this from being a simple piece of good news, and both are worth knowing before the date arrives. The first is that Ketu is already there — it has been in Cancer since 5 December 2026 and stays until June 2028, so Jupiter is not arriving in an empty sign. The second is that this exaltation is unusually short. It ends on 26 June 2027. Jupiter normally spends about thirteen months in a sign. This time it gets five.
Jupiter Reaches Its Exaltation on Kark Rashi
Jupiter has been in Leo — your second house — since last year, and it turned retrograde there on 13 December 2026. Retrograde means apparent backward motion against the stars, and backward from Leo is Cancer. So Jupiter does not walk into your sign; it reverses into it, crossing the boundary at 2:15 am on Monday the 25th.
Jupiter in the first house from the natal Moon is read as expansion of the self rather than of circumstances: standing, confidence, the sense of having room. Exalted, it does that with the fewest obstructions it will ever have. The practical translation for Kark Rashi is that from the last week of January, things you ask for are more likely to be granted, people you approach are more likely to say yes, and the version of yourself you present is more likely to be believed. None of that is because the world changed on 25 January. It is because you will be presenting differently.
What it does not do is remove the work. A first-house Jupiter is famous for weight — literal weight, and the weight of taking on more than is sensible because it all feels manageable. Both are the same mechanism seen from two angles.
Why the Exaltation Only Lasts Five Months
This is the part of the January sky that almost nobody will tell you, and it changes what you should do with the transit. Because Jupiter enters Cancer while moving backwards, it enters at the far end of the sign and keeps reversing. It turns direct on 13 April 2027, still in Cancer, and then walks forward — out of Cancer and into Leo on 26 June 2027 at 4:48 am.
Total time exalted on your rashi: 25 January to 26 June 2027, a little over five months. Compare the previous visit, when Jupiter entered Cancer on 19 June 2014 and did not leave until 14 July 2015 — thirteen months, the ordinary length. And the next one does not arrive until 2038, because Jupiter takes about twelve years to go round.
So the correct attitude to 25 January is not settle in and enjoy the year. It is this is a five-month window that will not repeat for eleven years, and the things that need Jupiter’s help should be inside it. Applications, approaches, proposals, the conversation you have been putting off, the qualification you keep meaning to start — the window closes at the end of June.
Ketu Is Already Sitting Where Jupiter Is Heading
Ketu entered Cancer at 10:34 pm on 5 December 2026 and holds the sign until 24 June 2028. Its opposite point, Rahu, is in Capricorn — your seventh house — for the same period. That axis lands on Kark Rashi’s first and seventh houses, which is the self-and-partner axis, and it is the longest-running feature of your chart at the moment.
Ketu on the first house is read as detachment from one’s own image: less interest in how you are seen, less appetite for maintaining a position, sometimes a genuine loss of interest in things that used to define you. Rahu opposite, in the seventh, puts the hunger on the other side of the relationship — the partner, the client, the counterparty becomes the compelling thing. Together they describe a period where you are quietly disinvesting from yourself while over-investing in someone else’s expectations.
Jupiter arriving on the same degree-range as Ketu from 25 January cuts across that. This is worth stating carefully, because a lot of writing on the subject reaches for alarming names. What is verifiable is the sign placement: from the 25th, Cancer holds both an exalted Jupiter and Ketu. The reasonable reading is that Jupiter supplies exactly what Ketu has been taking away — a reason to be present in your own life — and that the two do not cancel so much as alternate. Some weeks will feel expansive and some will feel oddly indifferent, and both are the same month. Our 2026 Rahu-Ketu transit guide covers what the axis change means across all twelve signs, and remedies for a weak Ketu are more relevant to Kark Rashi now than to any other sign.
The Full Moon Falls on Kark Rashi in Pushya
At 5:47 pm on Friday 22 January the Moon comes full at 8° of Cancer — on your own rashi, three days before Jupiter gets there. The degree puts it in Pushya nakshatra, which spans 3°20′ to 16°40′ of Cancer; at 8° it falls in pada 2, the quarter running 6°40′ to 10°00′.
Pushya is worth a paragraph of its own for Kark natives, because its two classical attributions point in different directions and both apply this month. Its ruling planet is Saturn — which in January sits in Pisces, your ninth house. Its presiding deity is Brihaspati, which is Jupiter — the planet that arrives exalted on this same sign seventy-two hours later. A Full Moon on your own rashi, in a nakshatra whose deity is the planet about to be exalted there, is not a common arrangement, and it makes the last ten days of January the part of the month that matters.
A Full Moon on the first house tends to bring things to a visible head rather than start them. Expect something you have been carrying privately to become other people’s business around the 22nd. Given the date, that is more likely to be useful than not.
The month’s other lunation, the New Moon of 1:54 am on Friday 8 January, sits at 23.1° of Sagittarius in Purva Ashadha pada 3 — your sixth house. Sixth-house New Moons are the ones to use for the unglamorous restarts: the health regime, the backlog, the debt schedule, the thing that has been quietly accumulating.
Your Ruler, and the Twenty-Three Hours of Venus
Kark Rashi is ruled by the Moon, which changes sign every two and a bit days and so does not anchor a month the way Saturn or Jupiter does. What anchors the first half of January instead is a piece of timing that affects every sign and hits your fourth house.
Venus spent all of December in Libra, its own sign — the only dignified planet in that sky. It leaves at 11:18 pm on Friday 1 January. For Kark Rashi, Libra is the fourth house: home, mother, property, the base you operate from. So you get twenty-three hours of a dignified Venus in your home sector to open the year, and then it is gone into Scorpio, your fifth house, where it is neither exalted nor debilitated but simply undistinguished.
Venus does not become strong again until it is exalted in Pisces on 15 April 2027 — which is your ninth house, and which lands inside Jupiter’s exaltation window. That is a genuinely favourable pairing to know about in advance, and it is a spring matter rather than a January one.
Mars Turns Retrograde in Your Second House
Mars is in Leo, your second house, and turns retrograde at 6:24 pm on Sunday 10 January. Mars only does this about once every two years, so it is a less familiar event than a Mercury retrograde and a more consequential one.
The second house from the Moon covers income, savings, possessions and speech. A retrograde Mars there does not empty the account; it makes force ineffective in that department. Pushing hard on a payment, a raise, a price or an argument between 10 January and the spring tends to produce resistance rather than movement. The specific advice is narrow and useful: do not open a money negotiation in the second half of January by pressing.
The rest of that story runs past this month, and Kark natives should know where it goes, because Mars reversing out of Leo takes it into Cancer — your own sign — on 10 March 2027, where Mars is debilitated. It turns direct there on 1 April and returns to Leo on 26 April. So there is a stretch in March and April with a weak Mars on your rashi alongside an exalted Jupiter. That is a mixed arrangement, it is two months away, and January is the month to get things moving so that stretch is spent consolidating rather than starting.

Week by Week
1–7 January
A short good stretch and then a change of tone. Venus is dignified in your fourth house until late on the 1st, which makes New Year’s Day itself the best day of the month for anything to do with home, family or property — and then that support is withdrawn for the rest of the year. Sun and Mercury are both in your sixth house, so the first week is naturally suited to clearing rather than launching. Nothing structural moves.
8–14 January
The busiest week of the month. The New Moon in your sixth house on Friday the 8th is the reset point; use it for the health or workload decision rather than an ambitious one. Then Sunday the 10th carries two events: Mercury into your seventh house just after midnight, and Mars turning retrograde in your second house that evening. From this point, money and speech both want a lighter hand. On Thursday the 14th the Sun follows Mercury into your seventh house at the Sankranti ingress, so partnership matters take over the visible half of the month.
15–22 January
A holding week that ends on a high. Sun, Mercury and Rahu are all in your seventh house, which concentrates attention on the other party in whatever your main negotiation is — and with Rahu there, on overestimating how much you need them. Then the Full Moon on Friday the 22nd lands on your own sign in Pushya, and something private becomes public. Given what arrives three days later, that is a reasonable moment for visibility.
23–31 January
The part of the month worth planning around. Jupiter enters Cancer exalted at 2:15 am on Monday the 25th. If there is a request, an application, an approach or a proposal you have been sitting on, the last week of January is when to move it — not because the date is magical, but because you have five months of the best Jupiter placement available and it is better to start at the beginning of a window than in the middle. Mercury moves to your eighth house on the 28th and Venus to your sixth on the 29th, so the very end of the month is quieter than the 25th suggests.
Career and Money for Kark Rashi
Career this month is a seventh-house story rather than a tenth-house one, which means it runs through other people: a client, a partner, a counterparty, an interviewer. The Sun arrives there on the 14th and Mercury on the 10th, and Rahu has been there since December. That combination makes the other side look more powerful than it is. The correction is unglamorous — write down what you actually need from the arrangement before the meeting, and check the outcome against the note rather than against how the meeting felt.
Money is governed by the retrograde Mars in your second house from the 10th. Treat January as a month for holding positions rather than forcing them. If a payment is late, chase it procedurally and not confrontationally. If a raise is due, raise it before the 10th or after April.
Relationships and Family
The Rahu-Ketu axis sits exactly on your relationship axis for the whole of this period, and January is a middling month within it rather than a turning point. The pattern to watch is the one described above: your own preferences quietly becoming negotiable while the other person’s become urgent. Rahu in the seventh is not a prediction of a bad partner. It is a prediction that you will be unusually accommodating and will not notice.
Family and home get their one clear window on 1 January and then nothing structural. If something at home needs saying, the first day of the year is genuinely the better day for it.
Health
Two specific notes rather than general advice. The New Moon in your sixth house on 8 January is the month’s natural start date for anything you have been meaning to begin, and sixth-house lunations suit maintenance regimes rather than dramatic ones. And a first-house Jupiter, exalted, from the 25th is classically associated with putting on weight — which sounds like a joke and is not. The mechanism is that everything feels comfortable and sustainable, including habits that are not. Set the routine before the 25th so it is already running when the expansive stretch begins.
Remedies for Kark Rashi in January 2027
The priorities follow the chart: strengthen what arrives on the 25th, work with the Ketu that is already on your rashi, and stop pushing where Mars has gone backwards. Nothing here needs to be expensive.
- Guru worship on the four Thursdays — 7, 14, 21 and 28 January: Jupiter reaches its exaltation on your own rashi on the 25th, so Thursday observance matters more for Kark Rashi this month than for any other sign. Chana dal, turmeric, yellow cloth, and if you keep only one of these, keep this one. See our Jupiter page and the remedies for a weak Guru.
- Ketu observance, all month: Ketu has been on your rashi since December and stays until June 2028. Sesame, a grey or multicoloured cloth given away, and food offered to a dog are the classical forms. Our Rahu-Ketu remedies page covers the axis, and because both nodes sit on your first and seventh houses, the joint observances apply here more than they usually would.
- Do not press on money after the 10th: the practical form of a retrograde Mars in the second house. This is scheduling, not ritual, and it will save you more than any of the rituals. Open the negotiation before Sunday the 10th or leave it until April.
- Monday observance for the Moon — 4, 11, 18 and 25 January: the Moon rules Kark Rashi, and the 25th is itself a Monday and the day Jupiter arrives. White rice, milk, and water offered at a Shiva temple. Our Moon page sets out the rest.
- Use the 8th for the boring restart: the New Moon falls in your sixth house. Health, backlog, debt schedule — start on Friday the 8th rather than on the 1st, and it will hold better.
- Write down what you want before the seventh-house meetings: the counter to Rahu in the seventh with the Sun and Mercury joining it. Rahu’s effect is on judgement, not on events, and a note written beforehand is immune to it.
- Saturn observance on Saturdays — 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 January: Saturn is in your ninth house, and it is also the ruling planet of Pushya, the nakshatra your Full Moon falls in. Iron, black til and sesame oil, with a lamp under a peepal tree after sunset. Our Shani remedies page covers the detail.
- Move one thing in the last week of January: the least ritual item and the most valuable. Jupiter’s exaltation on your sign runs 25 January to 26 June 2027 and then not again until 2038. Pick the request you have been deferring and make it inside those five months.
In Summary
January 2027 hands Kark Rashi the single best planetary placement available to any sign this year, and hands it over late in the month. At 2:15 am on Monday 25 January, Jupiter enters Cancer exalted and sits on your own rashi. Three days earlier, the Full Moon of Friday the 22nd falls on the same sign at 8°, in Pushya pada 2 — a nakshatra ruled by Saturn and presided over by Jupiter itself.
The qualification that matters is the length. Because Jupiter reverses into Cancer rather than walking in, it stays only until 26 June 2027 — five months against the usual thirteen, and the next visit is in 2038. Treat the window as short and use it early. Ketu is on the same sign throughout and will keep supplying stretches of flat indifference in the middle of an otherwise expansive period; that is the transit, not a failure of the transit.
Two dates ask for restraint. Mars turns retrograde in your second house at 6:24 pm on Sunday the 10th, which makes force counter-productive on money and speech for the rest of the quarter and eventually carries Mars, debilitated, onto your own sign in March. And from the 14th the Sun joins Mercury and Rahu in your seventh house, which concentrates the month on other people’s terms. Decide what you want in writing beforehand.
How strongly an exalted Jupiter on the rashi lands depends on your natal Moon’s exact degree and on which of the nine Cancer padas holds it — Jupiter only occupies part of the sign in these five months, so whether it crosses your own degree is a real question with a real answer. What the Cancer rashi fixes and what it leaves open works through the pada layer, the Jupiter transit guide covers the move across all twelve signs, and the December reading sets out how the month arrived here.
Does exalted Jupiter cross your Moon’s own degree?
Jupiter is exalted on Kark Rashi for five months and covers only part of the sign. Whether it reaches your natal Moon’s degree decides how much of this you actually feel. A chart reading gives you the dates rather than the five-month average.
