Cancer Rashifal May 2027 (Karka Rashi): Exalted Jupiter Pulls Away From Ketu on Your Sign
Published 2026-08-21 | Live Pandit Ji
No sign carries a more measurable month than Karka Rashi in May 2027. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, on your own sign, and it sits with Ketu, which is also in Cancer. The two were exact on 20 April. On 1 May they are 58 arc-minutes apart; by the 31st they are 5°32′ apart. That widening gap is the month.
Jupiter conjunct Ketu is the one combination that can make exaltation feel like nothing at all. The largest benefic in the chart is at maximum strength, sitting on your rashi, and the south node next to it drains the satisfaction out of it — expansion that arrives and does not register, good advice that does not land, a blessing you cannot feel. April was the worst of that. May is the month it thins out.
And there is a deadline: this is Jupiter’s last full month on Karka Rashi. It has been on your sign in two passes — the first from June 2026, then a retrograde return on 25 January 2027 — and it leaves Cancer for Leo at 4:48 am on 26 June 2027, not to return for about twelve years. Whatever Jupiter on your rashi is going to give you, it gives in the next eight weeks.
The Separation, Measured
Jupiter is slow. It moves just 2°55′ in the whole of May, from 23°14′ to 26°09′ of Cancer, and it stays inside Ashlesha the entire time, crossing from the second pada to the third. Ketu is slower still and moves backwards, from 22°16′ to 20°37′. It is the sum of those two small motions — one forward, one retrograde — that opens the gap from under one degree to over five in thirty-one days.
Two things follow. First, Jupiter is direct: it turned direct in Cancer on 13 April 2027, so all of May is forward motion, which is why the separation is monotonic and not undone. Second, because Jupiter is direct and Ketu retrograde, the gap widens faster than Jupiter alone would manage — and the practical consequence is that the last week of May feels materially different from the first, without any single dated event to point at.
Ashlesha is the sharpest nakshatra of your sign, ruled by Mercury and by the serpents, and Jupiter there is wisdom with an edge on it. Ketu in Ashlesha is more difficult still: it is the placement most associated with detachment that arrives before you asked for it. As Jupiter pulls ahead, what you keep is the discernment and what you lose is the numbness.
Five Mondays for the Moon’s Own Sign
May 2027 runs from a Saturday to a Monday across 31 days, which gives it five Saturdays, five Sundays and five Mondays — 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 May. For the one sign the Moon rules, that is a genuine feature of the month rather than a curiosity: five weekdays belonging to your own ruler, instead of the usual four.
Your Chandra days — the two and a bit days each month when the Moon is physically on Karka Rashi — run from 10:50 am on Tuesday 11 May to 1:40 pm on Thursday 13 May. That window is the natural time for anything you want the Moon to carry: beginning a fast, a treatment, a reconciliation, a return home. It falls in the same week as the Sankranti, so it is easy to lose track of.
Saturn and Venus in Your Ninth House
Saturn spends its last full month in Pisces, your ninth house of fortune, father, teachers and long journeys, moving from 26°18′ to 29°47′ — thirteen arc-minutes from the end of the zodiac. It crosses from the third pada of Revati into the fourth in the first days of the month, and that fourth pada is the gandanta, the unstable junction between the last 3°20′ of Pisces and the first 3°20′ of Aries. Saturn is inside it all May. At 0.11° a day the crossing is a matter of a day, not a minute, so we date it no more finely than that.
Saturn in the ninth is a slow correction of belief. It removes what you were taking on faith and leaves what survives examination. It ends on 3 June 2027, when Saturn enters Aries and your tenth house of career — a much more demanding placement, and one worth knowing is coming.
Venus is exalted in that same ninth house at the start of the month and is exact with Saturn at 12:18 am on Saturday 8 May, at 27°08′ of Pisces. Exalted Venus meeting Saturn in the house of teachers and fortune is a good, quiet signature: grace entering a place that had become austere. Venus then enters Aries and Ashwini at 8:45 am on Monday 10 May, losing exaltation and moving to your tenth house, and enters Bharani at 8:00 am on Friday 21 May.
The Sankranti Moves the Sun Out of Your Tenth
The Sun is exalted in Aries, in your tenth house, for the first fifteen days of May — the most visible position a chart offers, and about as good as your career house gets. It enters Krittika at 1:22 am on Wednesday 12 May and then leaves for Taurus and your eleventh house at 12:14 pm on Saturday 15 May, which is Vrishabha Sankranti. It enters Rohini at 9:39 pm on Tuesday 25 May.
So the first fortnight is your visibility and the second is your income. Mercury makes the same move eight days earlier — it enters Taurus at 12:34 pm on Thursday 6 May — and then drops into your twelfth house at 6:28 pm on Sunday 23 May. Mercury covers 50°11′ in May, the most of any body, and it opens the month combust, having been exact with the Sun on 29 April; the gap reaches 14° on about the 11th and nearly 23° by the 27th. Anything requiring a signature belongs to the middle of the month, not the first week.
Mars on Your Money House, All Month in Magha
Mars holds your second house of income, savings, family and speech for every day of May, in Leo, moving from 1°12′ to 12°49′ and staying inside Magha from the first day to the last — it ends thirty-one arc-minutes short of leaving it, crossing all four of Magha’s padas on the way. Mars is still recovering speed after its long retrograde earlier in the year, which is why it covers only 11°37′.
Mars in the second is impulsive money and hot speech. It reads as spending decided quickly, a financial argument inside the family, and a tendency to say the true thing in the wrong tone. Magha is the ancestral nakshatra, ruled by Ketu and by the pitrs, which makes the family flavour stronger: a dispute about something inherited, or an obligation from an older generation, is the characteristic form. Our Pitra dosh page is the relevant reading if this is already live in your chart.
The Lunations, and a Fully Open Calendar
The New Moon forms at 4:28 pm on Thursday 6 May at 21°30′ of Aries, in the third pada of Bharani, in your tenth house — a career reset while the Sun there is still exalted. The Full Moon forms at 4:29 pm on Thursday 20 May at 5°00′ of Scorpio, in the first pada of Anuradha, in your fifth house of children, learning and creative work: fourteen days and one minute after the New Moon. The Moon is in Scorpio from 7:02 am on the 20th to 4:50 pm on Saturday the 22nd, which is the span that lunation sits inside.
A Full Moon in the fifth house is the pleasantest lunation a chart gets. For a Moon-ruled sign it tends to be felt physically — a good day with a child, something finished that you made, an evening that stays with you. And nothing blocks it: all 31 days of May 2027 are open, with no Kharmas, no Holashtak, no Chaturmas, no Adhika Maas and neither Jupiter nor Venus combust. May sits inside an unbroken run of 82 open days from 15 April to 5 July 2027, the longest our tables contain, which ends only when Venus goes combust on 6 July.

Week by Week
Thirty-one days, Saturday to Monday. The Moon rules Karka Rashi, so your day is Monday, and there are five of them: 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 May.
1–7 May
The tightest week of the Jupiter–Ketu contact and the week to expect the least from. Jupiter is under a degree from Ketu on your own sign, and Mercury is combust in your tenth house at the start, having been exact with the Sun on 29 April. Mercury moves into your eleventh at 12:34 pm on Thursday the 6th and the New Moon forms in your tenth four hours later at 4:28 pm — a good moment to decide a professional direction and a poor one to announce it. Monday the 3rd is your first Chandra weekday.
8–14 May
The month’s gentlest week. Exalted Venus is exact with Saturn in your ninth house in the first hour of Saturday the 8th, at 12:18 am; Venus leaves exaltation for your tenth at 8:45 am on Monday the 10th; and your Chandra days run from 10:50 am on Tuesday the 11th to 1:40 pm on Thursday the 13th. Mercury clears the Sun’s glare around the 11th. If there is one week to begin a treatment, a fast or a difficult conversation with a parent, it is this one.
15–21 May
The pivot. At 12:14 pm on Saturday the 15th the Sun leaves your tenth house for your eleventh, so visibility gives way to income. The Full Moon fills your fifth house at 4:29 pm on Thursday the 20th, opposite Mars in your second — the pleasantest lunation of the month, with a financial argument possible in the same week. Jupiter is now more than two degrees clear of Ketu, and the difference is noticeable.
22–28 May
A quieter, more inward week. Mercury leaves your eleventh house for your twelfth at 6:28 pm on Sunday the 23rd and reaches its widest separation from the Sun on the 27th at nearly 23° — strong, but in the house of things unwitnessed. The Sun enters Rohini in your eleventh at 9:39 pm on Tuesday the 25th, which is the best five-day stretch of the month for income. Monday the 24th is your fourth Chandra weekday.
29–31 May
Three days that close the month with Jupiter 5°32′ clear of Ketu on your rashi, Saturn thirteen arc-minutes from the end of Pisces, and Monday the 31st — your fifth Monday — as the last day. Jupiter has four more weeks on your sign after this. If there is something you have been meaning to start under its protection, the window closes on 26 June.
Career and Money for Karka Rashi
Career belongs to the first fortnight. The exalted Sun is in your tenth house until 12:14 pm on the 15th, the New Moon of the 6th forms there, and Venus joins from the 10th — three separate reasons for the first half of May to be the visible half. Rahu sits in your seventh house in Capricorn, moving from 22°16′ to 20°37′ and staying in Shravana pada 4 all month with no nakshatra change, which reads as an unusual counterparty or an alliance that does not follow the normal rules.
Money is the second fortnight, and it is mixed. The Sun and then Mercury pass through your eleventh house of gains, and the Sun in Rohini from the 25th is the best stretch of the month for income. Against that, Mars sits in your second house all month in Magha, which spends impulsively and argues about family money. See our financial remedies page, and note that Saturn moving into your tenth on 3 June changes the professional weather considerably.
Home, Family and Partnership
Your fourth house, Libra, is empty all month, and its lord Venus is in your ninth and then your tenth — so home is stable but somewhat unattended, with your attention professionally elsewhere. Mars in the second is where the family tension actually shows up: money, and words about money.
Partnership carries Rahu in the seventh for the whole month, unchanged in Shravana. Rahu there amplifies and distorts in equal measure; it is the transit that makes a partner seem more necessary or more foreign than they are. With Jupiter exalted on your own first house, though, you have the better half of that axis: your own judgement is the sounder of the two this month, particularly after the middle of May when Ketu is well behind Jupiter.
The calendar is fully open, and for anyone considering marriage the reason to move is Venus: it goes combust on 6 July 2027 and stays combust until 17 September, closing the marriage calendar for that whole stretch. See the May 2027 marriage muhurat page, griha pravesh, and child samskaras — the last of which is worth a look while Jupiter is still exalted on your rashi and the Full Moon is in your fifth house.
Health
Karka Rashi governs the chest, stomach and the fluid balance of the body, and the Moon — your ruler — governs the mind’s steadiness. With Ketu on your rashi all month, the characteristic complaint is not an illness but a flatness: appetite off, sleep shallow, a general sense of being slightly absent. That is the part that improves measurably as Jupiter pulls away.
Mars in your second house adds heat to the mouth, teeth and throat, and the Full Moon in your fifth on the 20th tends to run the emotions high for a water sign. Your Chandra days, 10:50 am on Tuesday 11 May to 1:40 pm on Thursday 13 May, are the best window of the month to begin anything corrective, and your five Mondays are the natural days to keep it going.
Remedies for Karka Rashi in May 2027
Four conditions: exalted Jupiter separating from Ketu on your own sign in its last full month there, Ketu on the rashi throughout, Saturn’s last full month in your ninth house, and Mars in your second house in Magha for all 31 days.
- Somvar observance on all five Mondays — 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 May: the Moon rules Karka Rashi and May gives you five of its days instead of four. White, water, rice, and Shiva at whatever hour you can keep. See Monday fasting for Shiva.
- Guru worship on the Thursdays — 6, 13, 20 and 27 May: this is the central remedy of the month. Exalted Jupiter is on your own sign and pulling clear of Ketu, and it leaves your sign on 26 June. Turmeric, chana dal, and yellow given to a teacher rather than kept. See weak-Jupiter remedies and Thursday fasting.
- Ketu observance, because it is on your rashi: Ketu stays in Cancer from 22°16′ to 20°37′, in Ashlesha, for every day of May. Feeding a dog, giving a blanket away, and Ganesha before anything begun are the standard forms. See Ketu remedies and our Rahu–Ketu page.
- Hanuman worship on the Tuesdays — 4, 11, 18 and 25 May: Mars sits in your second house in Magha, the ancestral nakshatra, all month. Red flowers, sindoor, Hanuman Chalisa after sunset, and no financial argument with family in the same week. See the Mangal remedies page and Tuesday fasting.
- Saturday observance for Shani — 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 May: five Saturdays in Saturn’s last full month in your ninth house, and the 8th carries the exact Venus contact in its first hour. Sesame oil, black til, a peepal lamp after sundown. See the Shani remedies page.
- Use Jupiter’s last eight weeks on your sign: the practical remedy rather than a ritual. Exalted Jupiter on the rashi is a once-in-twelve-years protection and it ends at 4:48 am on 26 June 2027. Anything that needs a benevolent start — a course, a child’s samskara, a commitment, a return to something abandoned — is better begun before then than after.
- Something for the pitrs, quietly: Mars in Magha in your family and speech house for a full month, with Ketu on your rashi, is the ordinary trigger for an ancestral obligation surfacing. Water, black til, and food given without announcement. See our Pitra dosh page.
- Expect the ninth house to get harder in June, not easier: Saturn leaves your ninth on 3 June for your tenth. If there is a matter with a teacher, a father or a long-standing belief that Saturn has been working on for two years, close it in May.
In Summary
For Karka Rashi, May 2027 is a month you can measure. Exalted Jupiter and Ketu sit together on your own sign, 58 arc-minutes apart on the 1st and 5°32′ apart on the 31st, with Jupiter direct since 13 April and moving only 2°55′ all month, entirely inside Ashlesha. April’s flatness lifts steadily rather than at a stroke, and the last week is noticeably clearer than the first. Jupiter leaves your sign at 4:48 am on 26 June 2027 and will not return for about twelve years, so May is its last full month with you.
The rest arranges itself around the Sankranti at 12:14 pm on Saturday 15 May, which moves the exalted Sun out of your tenth house and into your eleventh: visibility first, income second. Exalted Venus is exact with Saturn in your ninth at 12:18 am on Saturday 8 May before dropping into your tenth on the 10th, Saturn spends its last full month in your ninth and enters your tenth at 3 June, and Mars holds your money house in Magha for all 31 days.
Five Mondays for the Moon’s own sign, Chandra days from 10:50 am on 11 May to 1:40 pm on 13 May, a Full Moon in your fifth house on the 20th, and a fully open calendar inside the longest open run our tables hold — 82 days from 15 April to 5 July. All of it is sign-level: which of the nine Cancer padas holds your natal Moon, and where Jupiter and the Moon sit in your own chart, decides how much lands. For more, read April’s reading, what Karka Rashi settles and what the pada decides, and our Rahu–Ketu remedies page.
Exalted Jupiter leaves your sign on 26 June 2027
Eight weeks of a twelve-year transit remain. What it can still give depends on your natal Jupiter, your dasha and which pada of Cancer holds your Moon.
