Sagittarius Rashifal January 2027 (Dhanu Rashi): The New Moon Falls on Your Own Sign

Dhanu Rashi opens 2027 with the Sun and Mercury both sitting on it, and then gets the cleanest fresh-start marker the calendar offers: at 1:54 am on Friday 8 January, the New Moon forms at 23.1° of Sagittarius — on your own rashi. A New Moon on the first house is the one lunation that genuinely functions as a personal new year, and yours falls eight days into the actual one.

The degree matters more than usual here. 23.1° of Sagittarius sits in Purva Ashadha, one of the three nakshatras that make up your sign, and specifically in its third pada. Purva Ashadha’s ruling planet is Venus — and Venus itself arrives on Dhanu Rashi three weeks later, at 6:37 pm on Friday 29 January. The lunation and the planet that governs its nakshatra both land on your sign in the same month, at opposite ends of it.

The New Moon on Dhanu Rashi, and Its Pada

Purva Ashadha spans 13°20′ to 26°40′ of Sagittarius. Divided into four padas of 3°20′ each, the third runs from 20°00′ to 23°20′. The New Moon at 23.1° — that is 23°06′ — falls inside it with about fourteen minutes of arc to spare. This is arithmetic rather than interpretation, which is why it is worth stating precisely: anyone whose natal Moon sits in that same pada is having a markedly more personal version of this lunation than the rest of Dhanu Rashi.

A first-house New Moon is the month’s best date for anything that starts with a declaration about yourself: a new role, a new regime, a name on a document, a decision you intend to hold to. It works because there is nothing in the sky to see — a New Moon is invisible — and the department it resets is the one you carry rather than one you negotiate. Use the 8th and the few days after it rather than 1 January, which for Dhanu is astrologically unremarkable.

One qualification, and it is the reason to move early in the month: Mars turns retrograde on Sunday the 10th, and the Sun leaves your rashi on the 14th. The window in which a first-house start has both the lunation and forward-moving planets behind it is roughly the 8th to the 10th.

Venus Closes the Loop on the 29th

Venus begins January in Libra, its own sign, which is your eleventh house — gains, networks, older siblings, things that come through groups. That dignity ends at 11:18 pm on Friday 1 January, twenty-three hours into the year, after holding through the whole of December. Venus then spends four weeks in Scorpio, your twelfth house, which is its least useful position of the month for you.

Then at 6:37 pm on Friday 29 January it enters Sagittarius and sits on your own rashi. Venus on the first house is the transit most reliably associated with ease of manner: people find you easier to deal with, and you find it easier to ask. It is not dignified in Sagittarius — Venus is only strong in Libra, Taurus and Pisces — but the placement on your own sign is worth having regardless, and it carries into February.

The connection to the 8th is real rather than decorative. Purva Ashadha is a Venus-ruled nakshatra; your New Moon fell in it; and the planet that rules it comes to sit on your rashi at the end of the same month. Your Ruler Becomes Exalted — in Your Eighth House

The December reading flagged this and January delivers it. Jupiter rules Dhanu Rashi, and Jupiter’s sign of exaltation is Cancer. Counted from Sagittarius, Cancer is the eighth house. Dhanu is the only rashi in the zodiac for which the best condition its own ruler can reach lands in the house the tradition treats most warily — and it happens at 2:15 am on Monday 25 January.

Do not read that as a contradiction to be resolved. Read it as a description. The eighth house governs shared and inherited money, insurance, debt, taxation, other people’s resources, and matters that transform rather than improve. An exalted Jupiter there is genuinely favourable for those things: settlements land better, claims are treated more generously, an inheritance or a joint arrangement moves in your favour, and research or anything requiring you to look into what is hidden goes well. What it does not do is make the eighth house comfortable. It makes it productive.

Two further facts belong with it. Ketu is already in Cancer, having arrived on 5 December 2026, and stays until June 2028 — so from the 25th your eighth house holds both an exalted Jupiter and Ketu. And this exaltation is short. Because Jupiter reverses into Cancer rather than walking in, it turns direct there on 13 April 2027 and leaves for Leo on 26 June 2027 — five months in total, against the thirteen a Jupiter transit normally runs. The next Cancer visit is in 2038. Anything eighth-house in nature that you have been putting off — a claim, a settlement, a will, a division — belongs inside those five months.

Kantaka Shani Continues in Your Fourth House

Saturn is in Pisces for the whole of January, and Pisces is the fourth house from Sagittarius. Saturn transiting the fourth from the natal Moon is Kantaka Shani — the thorn — which the tradition names alongside Sade Sati and Ardha Ashtama Shani as one of the three Saturn transits worth preparing for. It affects home, property, the mother, and peace of mind. Saturn turned direct there at 5:31 am on 11 December 2026, so from January it is moving forward rather than re-covering ground, which is the better of the two states.

The end is on the calendar in three steps. Saturn first leaves Pisces for Aries — the fifth from Dhanu, and out of the fourth — on 3 June 2027. Mars Turns Retrograde in Your Ninth House

Mars is in Leo, your ninth house, and turns retrograde at 6:24 pm on Sunday 10 January. This happens about once every two years. The ninth house is your natural home ground as a Dhanu native — dharma, higher learning, long journeys, teachers, the father — and a retrograde Mars there makes forward effort in those areas unproductive for a while.

In practice: a course or qualification pushed hard in this period tends to stall; a disagreement with a teacher, mentor or father figure will not resolve by being pressed; long-distance travel plans made after the 10th are more likely to be rearranged than kept. 1–7 January

Preparation rather than action. The Sun and Mercury are both on your rashi, which is a good combination for thinking clearly about yourself, and Venus is dignified in your eleventh house until late on the 1st. The New Moon is coming on the 8th, so this week is best spent deciding what to start rather than starting it.

8–14 January

The most important week of the month. The New Moon on your own sign at 1:54 am on Friday the 8th is the date to act on, and the window is genuinely short: Mercury leaves your rashi and Mars turns retrograde on Sunday the 10th, and the Sun leaves on Thursday the 14th.
