The Sun Mahadasha for Taurus Ascendant
6 years · Sun rules the 4th
The Parashari way to read a mahadasha for a given ascendant starts with the houses its lord holds. For Taurus ascendant the Sun rules only the 4th (Leo), a kendra house, so for Taurus the 6-year Sun mahadasha carries a single lordship.
Counted from Taurus, the Sun is exalted in the 12th (Aries) and debilitated in the 6th (Libra). Venus, Taurus’s lagna lord, and the Sun count each other an enemy. The Sun’s own nakshatras fall in Krittika (the 12th and 1st), Uttara Phalguni (the 4th and 5th) and Uttara Ashadha (the 8th and 9th) for Taurus ascendant, which is where a birth that opens in the Sun mahadasha has its Moon.

For Taurus ascendant, three of the Sun mahadasha’s sub-periods belong to lords of a dusthana (the 6th, 8th or 12th): Sun–Mars, Sun–Jupiter and Sun–Venus, and two to lords of a trikona other than the 1st: Sun–Saturn and Sun–Mercury. The sub-period of Venus, Taurus’s lagna lord, is Sun–Venus, the ninth of nine, 1 year long. Counted in time, sub-periods whose lords hold a dusthana for Taurus take 2 years 1 month 24 days (36%) of the Sun mahadasha’s 6 years, and those whose lords hold a trikona other than the 1st take 1 year 9 months 18 days (30%); a lord holding both is counted in both. In the Sun mahadasha for Taurus, the Rahu and Ketu sub-periods are read through their dispositors in the chart, since neither node rules a house.
For a Taurus-rising chart this is the frame of the Sun mahadasha, not a forecast: where the Sun and each sub-period lord actually sit, and their dignity there, decide what it comes to, and this page cannot know either.
