The 1st Lord for Taurus Ascendant: Venus
1st house = Taurus · lord Venus · also lord of the 6th
With Taurus rising, the 1st house is Taurus, the ascendant itself, and Taurus is ruled by Venus. So for Taurus ascendant the 1st lord is Venus, which also rules the 6th through Libra: one graha holds the 1st and the 6th together for this ascendant. The 1st is a kendra and a trikona, and the 6th a dusthana and an upachaya.
Venus is therefore the lagna lord of Taurus ascendant itself. The 1st’s matters are personal identity and life direction; with Taurus rising they sit in Taurus, a fixed earth sign that is the 2nd of the natural zodiac.
